- The FINAL album I needed to listen to by The Weeknd, and it's finally here! We ended on quite the sad note, I will admit. Don't you worry, I have more content for The Weeknd planned for the future now that I've listened to the whole catalog :D

Favorite project from him. Came out a week after my 5 year relationship failed and as I took an extended drive to enjoy it in full I almost crashed with how overwhelmed I was. It was an insane first listening experience but I’ll never forgot it.

Fun fact: the first song he recorded after this EP was actually heartless which ties to privileged but also was the lead single for Afyter Hours saying he’ll be back to his old ways, which the first line was “never need a b*tch I’m what a bitch need”

If this was 6 tracks longer, it would be in the conversation to be one of his greatest projects. Each song brings something different and sonically so pleasing. Top 3 project for me at the least 😍
The Weeknd originally was going to release an album in 2017, that he described at not melancholy at all, but beautiful. After the break up he scraped the entire finished album because he did not want to perform songs that were contrary to how he really felt. There is a leaked song called “Let me go” from that album and it is amazing, I recommend checking it out at some point.
Wasted Times is produced by Skrillex, basically he's the production G.O.A.T., and Gessaffelstein produced I was never there and Hurt You. Abel's projects have the best producers on-board, always 👑
When it comes to EDM Skrillex is the goat, but I think Kanye is a better producer and made more of an impact on the music industry present day. It’s just about preferences, so no need to come at me for having a different opinion
Skrillex has NOTHING on Burial tho, so is he really the G.O.A.T. of EDM?

This EP came out as a surprise drop on March 30, 2018. The "Call Out My Name" a cappella originally wasn't included, but was added later.

Am gonna see my therapist to find out why I am addicted to his music. You not only hear his music with your ears but your mind. I literally picture everything. Also the twist and turns both lyrically and his music arrangement gets me. Yes i hear the edited version most of the time.

My dear melancholy got me into the weeknd. I remember my friend showing it to me in 2018. Then I explored his older music and became an xo. This EP really was a turning point in my life and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. ❤️ Abel really is a genius.
You don’t have to make another video if you don’t want to but I highly recommend checking out after hours again after going thru this full journey of his discography
The heavy heartbreak of mdm, the experimental grandeur of kiss land, the woes of fame and wealth from bbtm, the retro 80s production of starboy, and the dark, toxic, taboo themes of the trilogy mixtapes all put together in one album...he really outdid himself

I don’t think it completely got scrapped as I believe save your tears (probably a fairly different version of it) was around before this was dropped and probably would have been on the up beat album. I’m sure there could be other song that this may have happened to as well

My Dear Melancholy is one of my favorite album titles ever. It just has such a nice ring to it and it captures the sadness of the album in one phrase. Great video!!!
This is my favourite project from him, without any doubt. So deep, sad, pure and so real.
I feel these songs and the whole ep mine, since I first listened to them during a dark period of my life, a few months after the album was released, and instantly became the perfect “frame” for my life during those times.

You should do his features and or other singles that are floating around of his. I would check out “enemy” by him. It’s a song that never made it on trilogy but was very much recorded around the time of one of the mixtapes.

I think it was actually for kissland, cos he was perfoming it when he was on tour for trilogy (around end of 2012- start 2013 i think)

I’ve truly enjoyed this journey and your introduction to The Weeknd. I’ve definitely become a fan of your channel overall. The Weeknd actually has another EP that he released before House of Balloons. It’s called The Noise. It’s on SoundCloud so the quality might not be the best. If you can make it work, I think it’d be another good review!
Call out my name backstory: The song was about Selina Gomez after they broke up because she was just using him for fame but the weekend thought she was his soulmate. And The Weeknd was even gonna give her a kidney after her lupus surgery but she said no and told him the truth about her using him the whole time but the weekend wanted to be with her so bad and after he made call out her name she just went ahead and ignored him, and made a song about Justin Bieber 😭

Loved this album because at the time when It came out, I had just recently ended a 3 year long on and off again relationship. Knowing the back story to this album and some of the songs, man this thing hit different on some late night drives.

The song didn't have any connection to the story, I was just bumping some Weeknd with my girl and we decided to put that on repeat because it was soothing, we got a lil smoochy smoochy 😂.
