MY DEAR MELANCHOLY NEXT!!
Zaid Yaser yes!
Zaid Yaser he’s already reacted to it on Patreon, might not get to RUclips
He will absolutely love it!!!
Call Out My Name is gon get him good...
Zaid Yaser my favorite project. Short and sweet
Secrets grew on me with time, it’s actually one of my favourites of his now.
Yes, it is a sleeper :D
Its one of those song that are just good when you hear it the first time but as time passes and you hear it again and again it becomes better.
It reminded me of something very Frank Sinatra like idk but I love it
You gotta watch Reminder with the music video. Whole different vibe, so many cameos.
J H seeing Drake pop up when there was rumoured to be a lot of bad blood between the two at the time just topped it all off too
Reminder my favourite track
i feel the same every time i hear stargirl interlude lol, i could listen to a full 5 minutes of that.
first time i heard lana was when i was 16 in high school listening to her born to die album. definitely a memorable album you should check out sometime.
I’m one of the very few who LOVED Starboy I understand why some are a little underwhelmed but the entire album is still on my main playlist. A masterpiece for me
Me too.
The album is not bad at all. The issue that most weeknd fans have is that it's not the Abel we've heard on the passed and are used to. It's just different.
Josie yeah but i mean they’d also complain if he just gave them something too similar. And Starboy was needed for the current sound he has now! I see what you’re saying though I guess I’m more open minded or something
@@jo.2581 that and maybe that is way too long in my opinion. Its not bad but i think is too many tracks. Maybe something shorter. I think the sound and beats on the daft punk songs for example are awesome!
@@tikoflores2000 it's because it has a bit of a mainstream format, I mean the title track was incredible but most of the album doesnt have the same edge as his earlier stuff.
Yes! Listen to LDR! She’s star girl and has a few other songs w Abel. And if you love Abel’s music, you won’t regret listening to her music. Btw so glad you’re growing
Irie Marie 🙌🙌
Irie Marie !!!!!
ultraviolence & nfr 🙌
Please don’t listen to Lana I’m begging
shaher adel why?
You doing Lana’s discography would be incredible, the shift between each era is an experience I’d love to see you have
Lana's music is pretty dope. I love it
Rockin' is underrated af, one of my favorites of him
MJ honestly, it feeds my groovy/funk/house vibe lol
@@tk13edm even a lonely night
ironic your name is is MJ, it sounds like him
YESSIR
@@whybeats8154 that song is very MJ indeed
If you like Abel’s dark atmospheric tracks, then you will love Lana Del Rey’s music because almost all of her songs are like that and she has a voice that rivals even The Weeknd’s. Definitely listen to her music.
Johnson Taylor yea they have a couple songs together. Off the top of my head there’s: Prisoner, Stargirl Interlude, and Lust for Life.
oooh
Dif tho
Ikr❤
Born to Die - Lana Del Rey is one of the best debut albums of the decade
Royal Blood imo
Yessss he needs to do it he's gonna love it
I have to disagree here. I was 16 when the album came out, and my friends and I listened to the album, and for me it just click as much I'd like it to. But I do love NFR and Lust for Life, Ultraviolence is kind of just there for me.
Tracks I really loved from Born To Die though are definitely Summertime Sadness, Video Games, Born To Die, and This is What Makes us Girls. Nothing awful, but nothing that really stood out to much apart from those tracks either.
Genesis Osuna yeah you’re definitely the odd one out
Nah
Sidewalks has a very special place in my heart. Abel + Kendrick = Godlike Duo.

Die for you is my favorite song ever produced. It's not something I can listen to casually because it throws me into a particular mood of depression and I scream every word of it.
Beyond that I've started to love Ordinary Life because it's so unusual.
Peyton S. Ordinary Life my favorite from this album
Die for you almost didn't make it into the album. He really struggled to finish it as it was the last song in the album where he was the most heartbroken
@tk13edm ive listened to it non stop for the past month
If you do Lana Del Rey, do either Born To Die or Ultraviolence first.
I just feel like it's such a tired thing to always preface a thing by saying "This doesn't hit like so and so." Trilogy Weeknd was a different animal, and while I think the majority of Weeknd fans would feel the same, Abel has not really tried to recreate House of Balloons, Thursday, or Echoes of Silence, as he probably shouldn't. Abel's life has changed, he's in an entirely different stratosphere, the texture of his life has changed. It's just a pet peeve, idk
Julius i feel you on that but most XO fans love and relate everything to that trilogy era for abel because that’s what got us hooked onto his music and what originally made us fall in love with his music. that was arguably, and to some not even arguably just point blank the truth, the best era ever. the darkness of trilogy, the themes, the instrumentals, everything that’s going, that’s what most of us love. he hasn’t tried to recreate trilogy yes, and part of me is glad because it shows he’s matured and is onto bigger things in his life, but he definitely should. or at least incorporate those vibes into his newer music. like heartless, starboy production with trilogy lyrics.
You’re correct but, if you go back and listen to his old music, it has experimental sounds and good atmosphere with some songs showing his amazing vocals. This music, is average vocals, and lyrics, simple beats that sound very boring. And it sounds lazier. It is still possible to make happier music sound good. But this isn’t even good. It’s more just average. His old music was actually a lot better, take out the fact it’s depressing it seems like it has effort. This is still good, but for what he has made himself to be from his older music, this is just so basic. Some songs still being good, but the whole package can be found with other artists and better done
Julius i agree with all of this 100% trilogy my favourite set of albums ever probably couldnt decide between the 3 mixtapes but he shouldnt ever try to remake that sound he had a completely different space and life i like the mainstream sound with dirty lyrics like heartless🤷🏻♂️
Not only that, I think that as he also states, after his first two albums came out EVERYONE copied him and that became the ordinary r&b style, obviously not as good tho. And that's when he thought he had to change, he could keep doing that kind of vibe, but he decided to go further and be innovative once again, always one step ahead of everybody else, so they can keep copying him but he's already onto another era
1Rule NoRules yeah what happened, is House Of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes Of Silence all basically created a wave in the musical industry, so many people picking up on the style and using it, around 2014 you could start to hear many people using it, and 2015 - 2017 I heard it almost everywhere
Even though I discovered the weeknd through his old stuff, this album really grew on me and every song SLAPS
Low life - the weeknd ft future. It's a must.

If anyone is wondering who that 3rd artist is on the Sidewalks track with Abel and Kendrick, his name is Daniel Wilson.
UpintheAir1395 I remember when I first heard the song I thought Sam Smith was featured lol
YES LANA DEL REY REACTION !!!!
Start with her earliest album (tho I feel like her 2nd album Ultraviolence will be your favorite)
Starboy brought many more people into XO, it was very pop and mainstream which leads to discovering his older works like Trilogy and Kissland

Please react to Lana, you will absolutely love her! Born to die all the way to NFR please. Lana season begins! :) great reaction

Youre amazing the way you just keep pushing out the videoes even tho the copyright system
Hey Jon, love the channel! You should keep making playlists for each artist as you go through their music. You can link them in the description of new reactions to that artist and it's a great way to get new viewers more invested and make the RUclips algorithm work for you.
Seeing this video made me start going through all of your reactions to the weeknd. I'm halfway through house of balloons and blown away. Reaction videos are my favorite way to start getting into a new artist because I can see if I like the general sound and then go listen to the whole album and really dive in fully invested.
I know it's a long comment but keep up the great work. Hardest working channel in the game.
Please listen to Ultraviolence by Lana Del Rey. It’s such an experience

This is the cd that I fell in love with, love the way you give finite details about music. causes me to pay attention to details I would otherwise overlook. Thankyou for that.
every Weeknd release is distinct & good, looking forward to all his future releases.
You're the best Jon ! ❤
The Weeknd & Future are one of the best duos out right now, definitely listen to their other songs together, whether it’s on your own time or on video!!!

YES I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE! 🖤
Just came here to see what he thought of stargirl
I'd actually be very hyped for a lana del rey season. All of her albums are great, especially Born to Die and Lust for Life.
Also fun fact she has a degree in philosophy with an emphasis in metaphysics.
YESSSSSS. REACT TO LANA DEL REY
Starboy is the star song of the album for me easily. I have such a special relationship to that song. I can’t belive its been so long since it came out. Feels like yesterday. I will never ever get tired of that song.
I recently did my own discog dive of the Weeknd after listening to After Hours and loving it and this is my album ranking with explanations
1. After Hours- Abel does the 80s style to quite near perfection in my mind. He comes through with his best vocal performances of any of his albums and increases the quality of his production without it taking away from his own expression. Favorite tracks: Blinding Lights and In Your Eyes, Least Favorites: Repeat After me and Escape from LA.
2. House of Balloons- It took a bit for the project to grow on me but I think its great now and has such a different tone from after hours. Abel expresses the dark and toxic environment hes in through the music incredibly well. Although I like some tracks more than others, I liked every track and felt every track had a purpose (except loft music it was way too long and I wish it was the bonus track over twenty eight). I thought the instrumentation was varied and never got boring or samey and overall very much enjoyed it. Favorite tracks: Wicked Games and Twenty Eight, Least favorites: Loft Music and The Knowing.
3. Thursday- A little bit of a downgrade from House of Balloons but still quite enjoyable. Abel takes the instrumentation in a few new directions which was very welcomed by me and kept things interesting. I wasn't a fan of The Zone or Gone as I felt they didn't really go anywhere but one could argue they match the tone of the album. Overall, not as good as House of Balloons but still a good piece of work. Favorite Tracks: Lonely Star and The Birds Pt 1, Least favorites: The Zone and Gone.
4. Beauty behind the madness- This was very close to being number 3 for me but it didn't quite beat out Thursday. This album presents Abel moving into the mainstream and moving away from the heavy, dark music he had been making. There are so many great tracks on here, probably has the most replay ability for me. In the first half, Abel pulls from so many genres and styles and its honestly amazing to me. However, the second half REALLY lets me down with kind of basic concepts, weak song structure, and bad features. Also, although there are many many bangers on here, the album doesn't feel as cohesive as After Hours or Trilogy which hurts it a little bit. So many good songs, but some issues here and there and a lackluster end that hold it back. Favorite Tracks: The Hills and Tell Your Friends About Me, Least favorites: Dark Times (shit was trash) and Prisoner.
5. Echoes Of Silence- Definitely a different experience from the rest of trilogy. Each song plays right into the next which I found to be interesting and caught me off guard. The instrumentation wasn't as hard hitting as on Thursday but was out there in a different, more lowkey and down-trought way. This is where my personal opinion comes in because I'm personally a fan of the other sounds he explored on trilogy but I still thought this was a solid project. Favorite tracks: Dirty Diana Cover and Montreal, Least favorites: XO/ The Host and The Fall
6. KissLand- For me, KissLand in theory sounds great because it is a more expanded and cinematic take on the dark themes Abel had been exploring. Don't get me wrong it does make for some great music but about half of the tracks are quite unmemorable to me and sound a bit basic. I will say Abel shows some of his best lyrical ability on here and I still think its a solid project, just some of it isn't on the caliber it should be. Favorite tracks: Wanderlust and Tears In The Rain, Least favorites: Professional and Live For (Drake doesn't work on Abel's music fight me).
7. Starboy- The only Weeknd album I think isn't at least decent. This album is the perfect example of music being overproduced. As a listener, I feel the most distant I ever have from Abel and not in a good way as its because hes so famous and shit but in an uninteresting way to where I don't really care. Starboy is filled with just mid, boring tracks that are super predictable and aren't very impressive musically. Don't get me wrong there are some absolute boner jams on here but theres also such an overwhelming amount of filler. The album features Abel's weakest vocal performances, his least interesting song writing, and most basic song structures. But then I Feel It Coming comes on and Im like how did this masterpiece end up here. Favorite tracks: I Feel It Coming and Starboy, Least favorites: Sidewalks (the autotune ruins it for me) and All I Know (his worst song imo).
Honestly, he set the bar too high for himself in a very short period of time. I understand why you're having the whole "it's not hitting me HERE" thing, it'll take a listen or two or four to get comfortable with all the transition he goes thru with his music. But seriously, lana season.
I love your reviews! Honest and no BS!
I know you can make your goals turn to reality Jon. Just keep on going. It will be hard, but almost every road leading to something great and beautiful is. It will be worth it. I wish you the best, and hope that you may find the strenght to continue during this rough time. Peace Jon ! 🙏

you absolutely CANNOT leave it. you gotta listen to all of her albums. they're all masterpieces in their own way. each one has a completely different vibe and story.
I think it would be a cool idea to make an update video every so often on tracks that have grown on you since the first listen because there seems to be a few every album that you acknowledge will probably be growers.

You should do a reaction video to one of your reactions after you’ve listened to that album for a year! For example “rewatching my trilogy first impression video” a year later after you’ve been consistently listening to see how your opinions have changed
Did you listen “Low life”? From Future featured by Abel, it would be great, if you react to it if u hadn’t yet
Please do a Lana Album. Born To Die is a great record!!
Another great video, it's awesome to see this channel get the buzz it deserves!!!
In my opinion, not everything needs to be compared to The Weeknd's past work. Artist have to evolve in this industry because progression won't occur if one remains stagnant. Yeah the typical die hard fan could listen to trilogy-type music from Abel forever but I doubt he'd want to stay in that lane throughout his career. I actually think this album is underrated in it's content, some song are meh and the tracks could've been shorter but the lyrics are better than his past work (IMO). Secrets is a super slept on song to me and I'm hyped for his new album because that heartless video was crazy haha.
Loved the video 👍
yesss you should react to lana!!
You have the best reaction videos in my opinion. You're not afraid to say that one of your favorite artists has a song you may not like. I feel like a lot of people have a lot of bias when it comes to their favorite artists. Also it's great that you mention not only the sound but get into the lyrics and the artistry behind them. Good job dud
