I much prefer seeing you playing varied characters as it’s more of a ‘normal’ road to masters, as it’s no fun just playing a carry the whole journey. Please keep mixing it up! Then the series could last longer which is only a bonus ahah

Same. I've had so many games where our bot looks like it should be absolutely dominating (like Wiggly + Lucario vs Charmander + Ralts), and we're able to hold top against constant jungle onslaught only to see bot lose their goal right before dread and are horribly underleveled. Like how do masters players consistently play that poorly?
Jake you are killing me dog. You botched game one so hard at the very last minute. 14:19 you score on the near goal and break it, forcing the people behind you to travel all the way to the center goal which they couldn't get to in time, losing 100 points. You should have just speed lasagna-ed your way to mid goal and let them score on outer for the game win. Love the series and commentary, your personality translates perfectly to this kind of content.

you score faster if someone is standing on the goal with you. That's probably what Machamp was doing in your first game.
I thought you score faster if your teammates are also scoring with you?

51:55 I feel this. I mainly played eldegoss but i swear I had to switch to wiggly just to make the jump from expert to veteran. Still on my journey to masters at ultra right now. I been fun seeing you play and learn about how to play your best for yourself and the team.

Wow, that first game would've been a domination! You just needed to score on their back goal so that Machamp could've scored on their second-to-back goal. Oh well, ggs
I'm loving this series... one of my takeaways from these watches, glorious hindsight and back seat driving wayyyyy after this series is done: a Master's overconfidence is costing some matches... I like seeing some games played to the fundamentals and then seeing some where you say you lose focus: don't score at the right spot, get baited into chases, get baited into being zoned, etc. and even against these less skilled players, it costs objectives and points and possibly the game
12:53 i saw a vid from Teeds that if a teammate is at a goal with you, you score faster. So the more teammates you have at a goal, the faster you get that 50pts in. At least that's what I thought Machamp was doing lol
I personally enjoy you switching it up each game, especially because I myself can’t carry a game very well. It’s fun watching the situations (bad and good) that you get into and what you make of each one! Love this series!
I finally made it out of expert and into Veteran and its like the whole dynamic shift. Out of all my games. My teammates actually work together and we take objectives. Even on matches where we lose. I'm not as upset cause we played a good close game instead of just getting steamrolled
Trust me, it's just a feeling. You'll find yourself in the exact same spot as you were in expert rank soon enough. I'm currently at ultra 5, having equally bad teammates and opponents as in expert.
@@cptk3916 Yeah I'm in Veteran 3 now and kinda back to where I was in Expert. Games are 50/50 now whether I win or lose. I've had matches where people have left after the first 2 minutes and it cost is the whole game.
Love the videos man. One tip on that early Crustle game, seeing the minimap after Zap, with other teammates headed topside and the enemy Lucario turning in 100, it may have been better there to bypass that first goal and turn in at their base so you and a teammate turn in 200 simultaneously rather than just the 100 from you. Alternatively, even bad players know that when you get Zap, run to score. Maybe the play could've been to actually back after Zap and let the others turn in, using stealth rock to help with defense, but I think the former may have been the play here (it was close based on goals standing, but that's not a sure-thing because of overcap). Still great to see how you maneuver through the midranks. Cheers!

Expert and Veteran are 50/50 hell. Sometimes you’ll win 4 in a row, then lose 4 in a row. Win one lose one is the way it goes

I feel like you can carry pretty hard as Crustle since you score so much and have the ability to steal if you're losing! And hes so fun to watch!
yooo this reminds me of my time in expert. Good job cowboy! Definitely the grind is harder now a days with more people getting carried to not only masters but all the other ranks as well. Its hard very tilting when you NEED to carry but even then som people just keep making mistakes. I would say that even if I enjoy the series, just take a brake from it because of how much craziness you are experiencing

I love crustle... I remember one time very early on in the game I was Crustle with an eldegoss. We had a lucario on our team, and our other 2 disconnected. But my crustle with my teammates eldegoss, we got so fed and just completely steamrolled bottom lane while the Lucario carried in top, and we won by a landslide despite being 2 teammates down. this was like day 1 so the other team had NO idea what they were doing, but still super fun

I totally get it if you want to play as a carry more, to make it through some of these ranks, but honestly, I’m here for the journey so I don’t mind at all if it’s gonna take a few more episodes, and I like the character diversity :)
I might be a year late to the party, but thank you for doing this. It helps solo players like me not feel so bad that even experts like you struggle with mid-level matches.

I had a Jungle Crustle game just today, I think it’s my new favorite way to play him. I have scope lens and go stealth rock, but XScissor is a great move to bully enemies.
People like stealth Rock in jungle but I personally would prefer xscissor just because its more of a bully move come in and just chomp the enemy health which is what you want from jungle. I havnt played him there myself so can't speak from experience more just what I think would be better.
I lowkey really like potion on slowbro a lot, it allows you to keep multiple people off of a goal combined with surf. Your sustainability is through the roof
Just keep mixing in characters. I think it’s fine if you play characters you can carry with/are better with but it’s still always fun to see some games with off meta characters. The road is long and hard but you’ll get there. I play solo as well and mostly play supports and tanks so I know the pain. Keep up the good content!!

That power spike with discharge in the final match hahaha just shows how much zeraora peaks once picking it up. Getting bullied all game then it just completely turned the tide
Your baiting trick for final dreadnaw isn't a bad idea, I've actually done it a few times myself just for a laugh we dominate act like we go for dread they "steal" it and bam they have a hard time coming back, but that's hard to do solo as your team could finish it i done it in a trio at least
That start of the second Crustle game looked like my games except that my lane partner usually just goes to steal our jungle and f up the game.. So it doesn't get better yet in Ultra

Road to expert class 3! I think a few sessions with a hard carry is fine since you aren't even guaranteed to win with hard carries. If you enjoy it that is
Great video, Jake. I don't mind at all watching you carry with try-hard pokemon. The next video could be all about the try-hard to rank up. You do a good job filling and playing lots of roles so I don't think it's be a bad thing to play some bully pokemon.

The garchomp probably crashed the number of games I've had where I've had a system reset after the loading screen is insane. It's so annoying as I'm 3 mins behind even with quick reset and relaunch.

I like watching you play different characters. Need to see some Lucario! I can never play greninja because people just autolock it all the time. Lost 3/4 ranked games today, still stuck on expert 4.
These are my favorite of your videos. I think you should lean more towards carries in the lower ranks, probably (hopefully) won't be AS necessary in higher ranks

Good luck in expert! My cousin and I were stuck in expert for over 175 games and it was because people didn’t know what they were doing.

I like seeing you play a variety of characters. This shows someone playing to master vs someone "grinding" to master. I would like to believe that I can make master without choosing strictly carries.
It's the CLIIIIIIIIMB. You should still use this time to practice up with Pokemon you want to test out. That said, I do like the idea of shifting play styles to fit the needs of the Rank. As you have said, the matches in Expert are way different than in Masters.

Maybe finding a balance between going all hard carries. Like rn your next wink ranks you up so maybe prioritize the hard carriers for rank up games and when struggling to secure multiple wins to help the climb.
Gotta say was not expecting such strong recurring characters like the Italian hunk on this road to master.
I think scoring in the top goal might have lost you that first game. I think you had time to score on the middle goal, while the rest of your team was too far away and would have to score at the top inner. It would have been a bit more risky though. Always hard to make those decisions with partial information in a split second though. Loving the series!

Just curious to know if this is a similar experience to how you reached masters on your main account?
This makes me feel better about not being in Masters yet. Running at 51% win after 579! Games in ultra 3 but have slid down the ladder to expert a few times. Game only gives you 1 bot Mach then you can lose 5 games and just drop rank and repeat

It seems like you are going to have to play hard carries, but I like to see a change in Pokémon every so often. I’m really enjoying the series.
I’d say you’re allowed to play who you want, if you want to try with carries then try with carries. Maybe you can do something where if you lose a certain amount of matches (even just one) then you can play carries, so you can still play people you don’t usually play
i don't mind at all that it takes longer to finish the road, just play what's fun, plus it's gonna get old real fast if you only play the carrys (in my opinion)

I've gone from almost vet 5 too vet 3 as I mostly play support now I've even got an afk gible up here man gible players but upset they don't get jungle

That first game there were a few instances where you could have prevented Greninja and then Lucario from scoring. Love your vids but sometimes I feel like you aren’t always aware of enemy team positions and snipes that are easily avoidable.

Unfortunate last bits of your first game since there's like 20 seconds left.
The right play would be rushing straight to the central goal since it's already open, and you can easily achieve this since you're the fastest/mobile pokemon on your team. Whereas your three teammates on top aren't that mobile except for machamp but with the remaining time, there's still a high chance that one of them would be able to get some score on the top goal. In this case, unfortunately, you really need that extra dunk since the opposing lucario were able to dunk.
That's why if anyone is on the same situation, it's worth leaving a tier 2/3 goal for your teammate if they'll have a hard time going for the next goal. Maybe they're slow/not mobile, or they're at low hp, which they might get killed before they reach the next goal.
I really like seeing you play carry mons, but that may just be because thats what I mainly play and Id like to see if I could learn from your gameplay haha. If you do decide to keep playing variety I would suggest to at least drop Zard.
In that Zeraora bottom lane match, you mentioned how Greninja was still in the jungle. He apparently stayed in there for 3 whole minutes never venturing out once, including just sitting still for like a solid 30 seconds. When he finally did emerge at a little before the 7 minute mark he was immediately KO'd in a 1v3. Not exactly a shining example of 'jungle ganking'...

Holy... No, it's worse.
Something's happening with the experience he gained by waiting, or whatever... Because he came out a fully evolved Greninja, while the enemy Greninja (who was actively participating in lane) still needed to evolve. What's worse is, he could have had two full jungle clears, but by sitting and waiting on one, he was able to level up that much?
It's ridiculous.
@@Varunic219 Watch it again. He did 2 jungle clears (at least of the buff pokemon). That's how he was able to evolve. The problem was he just sat on his butt waiting in between the clears instead of doing any helping.
I also noticed that during that time Squirtle was sitting in base for a while just not going back to lane.
It's a miracle he won that match.

You should have started Zap earlier. Your team didn't have enough time to hyper dunk.
also yes, buy lucario/blastoise so you can get some better games in. Feels bad watching your team do nothing as a charizard lol

Carry episode and then a varied episode. I think you can mix it up.
50:20 why would you try stop them from scoring? It’s before 2 mins so better then, than stop them and they have the goal after!

Also to answer your question at the end of the video, the season is ending soon so I think you should get some OP monsters and destroy the ranks.
