- I finally decided to play PokeRogue, a Roguelike version of Pokémon where you face battle after battle as they get progressively difficult. In spite of this game being played entirely within a web browser it's actually insanely cool. I hope you enjoy the video!

even cooler fact about the fact it's a browser game, it's compatible with phone and even adds a d-pad and buttons on the screen to play, and it's also fully compatible with a controller :]
But it also crashes every 2 minutes on mobile 😢

The reason the elite four was the same is because the game picks the four members from a random region, so it’s only a 1 in 9 chance

There is a setting (“type hints” IIRC) that shows if a move will be super or not very effective and by how much. I highly recommend you turn it on if you are struggling with the type chart.
I'm seeing that he doesn't have the biomes names, so I don't know if that was a feature when he played

If you’re really bad like me, you can also enable retries. Or, if you don’t have retries on and you really don’t wanna lose the run, close tab or reset tab and you will be at the start of the battle.

yeah but in those games it only works on kyurem and either reshiram or zekrom. in pokerogue and in pokemon infinite fusion, it works on any two pokemon.
yeah but it didn't do anything aside from fusing kyurem, whereas here it does exactly what it does in infinite fusion

There is a reason Avalugg can be used in hard OU stall. A very fleeting reason, but it is a valid one.
I’m also a casual Pokémon player,
But in the final levels of this game I had type charts, damage calculators, nature charts, list of moves from levelling and evolution levels for each Pokémon in my party opened on a bunch of different tabs. Really shows how addictive this game is

43:59 if i'm correct, the elite four members all come from the same league, so for example if the first one is from the kalos league, the rest will also be from the kalos league (in that specific run)

I'm so mad at how easily you caught that marshadow because I had rogueballs, with marshadow in the red and asleep, and it still took me like 20 tries and most of my team dying to its attacks to finally catch it

Yeah, after beating Classic there's an endless mode you unlock, probably won't do a video on that though!
@@Fir As far as I am aware there are also multiple stages of classic with each defeat of eternatus getting harder.
@@Fir There is even another secret mode, the "Endless Fusions Only", to unlock it, you need to beat (again) the classic mode but with a fused Pokemon on your team 😅

I beat the game on my 30th attempt, and now i'm trying a solo Cyndaquil (yes he can evolve) run because he's cool. I've seen a few solo runs but it's so hard to actually strategize late game haha
Loved watching this playthrough! It's nice to see more non-Mario Odyssey content in your main channel.
There is a option in setting that let's you retry runs if you activate the rentry setting whenever you lose your run it asks if you want to retry the battle this helps because you can learn what actions to do to win

here's a random tip in case you don't know: shiny pokemon in this game matter for more than just looks, because they increase your luck score, which makes it easier for you to get better things

Vileplume carried me through the "Story" when I beat it.
I feel like there is something wrong in PokeRogues calculations when it comes to hit accuracy. I've been hit with Horn Drill 3 times in a row, and there are times when 95% move will miss 4 times in a row. I know it's unlikely this happens, but that it can happen... but that unlikely accuracy shenanigans happens several times over multiple runs tells me the accuracy math is somewhat flawed. Love the game none the less.

Sheer cold hits diffrent in Pokerogue. One of my endless runs got wiped by getting hit 5 TIMES by sheer cold from a random boss mon on like stage 400 🙃

There is an end to “Endless” and part of playing that to the end is procuring a Pokémon with Sturdy because of the OHKO attacks.
@@iantaakalla8180 not even because of ohko at like round 3000 mons just take like 0 damage and just oneshot with every attack no matter your level so you need sturdy

About the randomness of the elite 4 I guess It randomly gives you a pack of an elite 4 and you got the kalos elite 4 both times, I dont think They could have given you elite 4 members of diferent games in the same run, you just happened to get kalos twice
It is not a roguelike. It's a roguelite, even stated by the devs
Roguelite isn't a particularly useful term, and can actually be detrimental to the genre.
I'd recommend watching Haelian's video on the subject.

my winning run started with a shiny buneary, double shiny scatterbug, and triple shiny luvdisc (there are different levels of shiny) and I had them all in the end

I never really got far in that game, but watching your first run, I'm starting to think that's because a team of six is not great in the starting area.

PokeRogue is more like a roguelike while Emerald Rogue is more like Pokemon. IMO Emerald Rogue is better (especially now that 2.0 is out) BUT PokeRogue has a more fast paced gameplay loop and allows for more crazy builds as opposed to EmRog which mostly doesn't allow you to do anything you could've do in Pokemon normally as far as your team is concerned.

You probably already know, but I guess on the off chance you or someone in comments doesn't, there's a setting they added that lets you retry fights if you lose, and another that shows type matchups. Turns some trainer bosses into rng puzzle fights. It's still possible to hit a wall for various reasons, but reduces losing a run to bad luck or a dumb mistake. (Unless the dumb mistake was forgetting to heal. It won't save you from that one.)
That mega rayquaza is a nightmare if you don't have a specific counter, or if the rival has something to swap into that counters you. Or five things. Infuriating.

I never used zigagoon until I beated the game like three times and instead used a baddy bad umbreon that has covet and weakened down the enemy with intimidate if they were physical and just slowly stole all of their items
I could swear Catch Rates in PokeRogue can have an overflow error...
Some catch rates are set depending on the turn and actions taken.
