- Today me and @Smallant are playing Super Mario Odyssey but the catch is we're building the level! Every time we complete a race we both get to add one thing to the level. All these changes compound on top of each other and make for the weirdest most nonsensical Mario Odyssey race I've ever done. This idea was inspired by the game Ultimate Chicken Horse where you also race friends on a level you build! Enjoy the video!

Like a true Ultimate Chicken Horse game, they spend a significant amount of time with the level being completely, objectively impossible and they focus on making other things worse instead of allowing themselves to, ya know, get points

@@YetiCat28 Yup. Either because they had some route that no one else was paying enough attention to properly block, or is that good as to find the tricks around the blocks
On the waterfall map in Ultimate Chicken Horse, I've had full games where there isn't a path to the end, and there are 30 obstacles placed near the start. 10/10 game is good.

You gotta love how one small seemingly meaningless decision was the cause of Fir’s downfall by choosing to keep the fork in place after deleting the pillar would be what ruined him in the end, absolutely hilarious.

This actually makes me think of the huge potential for SMO online races through custom-made obstacle courses in a tournament setting. Think of American Ninja Warrior, but with an Italian plumber.

ok but amethyst how the heck did you do this live without stuff breaking all over the place??? absolutely incredible work.
I think fir and smant were probably the best duo for this - both of them are great at creative problem solving and tricky movement while having their own things that they're better at so they really competed on the exact same skills that they're strong in.
I'd love to see this concept expanded to like 3 or 4 people with a first to 5 moons as well, the chaos of having more people add stuff with fewer moons would be really cool to see
In 6 months or so when they dont completly remember the layout they gotta come back to the same level and do a rematch

This is one of the best and funniest SMO videos I have ever seen. The rain and blizzard setting the mood for the finale AND making it harder to see was peak.
This video is SO much fun, you both look like you're having the time of your lives. Fir and Smant always have such great chemistry on camera, I was grinning the whole way through. Amethyst was an absolute boss in this and her dry, agreeable responses to the craziest ideas constantly had me rolling.

For some reason, the way Fir yelled, "I misplayed the air, Smant!" in that final round was hilarious to me
This was such a fun video! I don't think I stopped the video once. I was totally enthralled in this race. Way to go Smallant and Fir for the amazing competition. A huge thank you to Amethyst for modding this all.

I know this is based on Ultimate Chicken Horse, but I've actually been seeing a much more similar idea happening with the TF2 community, with the youtuber Great Blue having two players compete to win 10 games first while every round a third party edits the map based on their requests. These two things almost certainly share the same inspiration, but I actually think they're more similar to eachother than to UCH.

This is one of the best things I've ever seen. I hope this catches on, I'd love to see it in other games with other people to see what sort of differences can happen. Also maybe with different starting maps like UCH levels.

Keeping changes secret between players could be interesting to see so long as the star was kept in one spot so that one person couldn’t just move it for themselves or add one note in a really obscure location

Also, when you play the original game, if all of the players reach the goal, than no one gets the points bs it means that the road is too easy, I think, you should do that rule too.
I think it's more interesting here cuz that means they have to actually properly race to go through all of this instead of hoping the other person dies

This is my favorite type of videos. Ultimate Chicken Horse inspired races, but you can add whatever you want. It comes to favor the most creative and the most skilled player to beat and outsmart the opponent. There are also tf2 1v1s in this format and it's awesome. Hope to see more like this!

It's the cycle of RUclips. You'd be surprised how often ideas transfer between communities if they're fun enough. Fir and crew were most of the inspiration for TF2 hide and seek, so if it came full circle that'd be really cool - don't tell them I said that though :)

There are 2 videos by TF2 youtuber Great Blue who does this exact style of video. 2 players doing 1v1s then editing the level between. Both could've independently been inspired by Ultimate chicken Horse but it's also possible Fir saw that.

I love that in the end, the legendary fork came back to be the key to the final version.
This kind of video is so cool! I never played UCH, but I've watched and thoroughly enjoyed both of Great Blue's TF2 videos in the same genre, and I'm very glad that Smant and Fir also provide incredible entertainment in SMO.

Speedrun Idea: Surprise% Amethyst will surprise you with a mod.
Speedrun Idea 2: Weak% If Mario bonks, takes fall damage, or gets hit, he dies permanently. If he bonks he is fine. He will also be small.
Speedrun Idea 3: Partner% 7 other speedrunners will play Mario Odyssey with you. You will be partnered with one of them. Which ever duo finishes their run last has to get slimed on their next stream.
