Lots of incredible shredders, but Petrucci is just *_so tight on his rhythm playing_* that sets him apart. He famously says that he spends 90% of his time playing rhythm not solos
It would, because that wouldn't be true. The album was written over the span of two separate weeks in September and October 1998 (they had to split sessions due to Petrucci's daughter being born while they were in studio, otherwise it would be a single week to write and record, like the first album). This particular song, though, was written in just 2 hours, according to Portnoy himself in the album's liner notes.
if i had to play the set list that JP played Assuming i could memorize and perfect playing all the material. I would literally have carpal tunnel at the end of the gig. Insane respect to JP, DT, and LTE
Not sure if this has been mentioned but the guitarist, keyboardist and drummer are the members of Dream Theater. The bassist is an outside member. This is a side project
Haha! Maybe outside Dream Theater, but Tony Levin’s played with John Lennon, Yes, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson etc. So more of an insider...
Hello uncle,, Mike portnoy (ex dream theater) drummer. Jordan Rudess (Keyboardis Dreamtheater too) and John Petrucci (Guitarist from DT too) 3 best from DT ,teacher n master skill music 😂 Next u can still react Dreamtheater-Instrumedley (no vocal too) best from DT too 😂🙏
The only piece of guitar work that can impress after that, is Buckethead- Hold Me Forever and its 14 minute guitar solo, That's the pinnacle of guitar work. A son dedicating his magnum opus to his mother.
An incredible performance, everyone is at the top of their game. That guitar solo, though. Man, Petrucci is KILLING it!

Love your facial expression on John's guitar solo. That man is a God on the guitar hands down.
Instrumedley - Dream Theater......
This is Wonderful.......
The Chapman Stick is for tapping. The top 6 strings are bass strings and the bottom 6 are guitar strings.
Would it blow your mind to know that these 4 guys composed this song and the entire album it was on in 24 hours?

NEW ALBUM JUST RELEASED AFTER 20 YRS.
12 string Grand Chapman Stick (Grand Stick). It’s a percussive tapping instrument.
