Ain't it a shame that most people can't open their minds to the possibilities of music? They are so used to listening to the same ol mainstream sound of the radio. People reading this right now have evolved musically to the next level.

I love this band. The new album is amazing. John Petrucci (Dream Theater) and Roine Stolt (Transatlantic, The Flower Kings) are probably the best guitarists ever.
This is the opening song for a 2 Hour concert and they're already played 2 Billion notes effortlessly.. and about that guitar solo..... It's not real !! I can't believe a human can shred like that fast for that long. Try another masterpiece in the same show called " When the water breaks "

The whole guitar solo section was an improvised part mostly. And they went to the main riff like bosses. These people are next level humans. The talent and musicianship is beyond top notch. Excellence on display.
Jordan Rudess on keyboards, effortlessly doubling a bunch of the parts of one of the fastest guitarists on the planet. I love this song just for that flex.

They’ve actually released 3 songs from the new album with the song “Hypersonic” being the most incredible!! Check that one out!! Oh and btw realized that the bass player ( Tony Levin) is now 70!!! And he hasn’t slowed down! Check out the new stuff!!!
What's great about this particular performance is that Jordan (the keyboardist) had technical difficulty with where his solo comes in after the extended guitar solo and the band is so damn professional, they just keep playing the accompanying parts over and over until he fixes it and comes in. If you were unfamiliar with the song, you'd have no idea and think it's supposed to happen like that. On a different tour date, this same thing would happen to his keyboard again and they gave up trying to fix it and played the entire show without keys.
The most talented band ever💪🏽⭐️.. aliens or some ancient gods in human form..🤣🤣.. no one can beat those guys especially on Live performance... i really love your reactiona guys.. funny, honest and good analysis.. keep rocking❤️🤘🏽

Además la velocidad que tienen Rudess y Petrucci es descomunal, ese teclado y esa guitarra sacan fuego, deben tener los dedos entrenados por la fuerza de velocidad al estilo Flash.
Guys, you are absolutely right: watching these monsters playing such freaking awesome music doesn't mean other musicians should even compare with them. Music, as it happens with art in general, is not a competition: there's plenty of space for such giants as LTE, and for many others, each on their playing field. But one thing I'm sure of: this quality is what we all should aspire to: just do the best we can in our own field. Thanks for your grat reaction, I enjoyed every second of it.
Checking in from the Shattered Fortress video... 1. LTE was a side project that Portnoy wanted to do as a variation from Dream Theater style music, but more importantly , with different musicians. At the time, Jordan Rudess (keyboard wizard) wasn't part of DT. The frightening thing is this; they wrote all the songs and recorded them...in...one...week. 2. As others have said, Tony Levin (legendary bass) is playing a Chapman Stick. It's an invention by Emmett Chapman that's optimized for tapping. This example is a 12 string. More or less, the bottom six strings are standard guitar, while the top six are an inverted bass. If you want to see more of what this instrument is capable of, look up Guillermo Cides - one man band here on YT. You'll love it. 3. Now that you've broken into LTE, you MUST watch When The Water Breaks, and be aware that they recently got together again to record a third album due out soon!!! Love you guys, keep rocking and see you in the next video!!!
I saw this and immediately had to open it. Was not disappointed! Hard to imagine they did this as the opening piece of a two-hour set, but that's what you get from Dream Theater, lol. Please check out Animals as Leaders soon! Preferably a live one. Tempting Time, Ectogenesis, or Wave of Babies are good starting points!
If LTE did a concert playing only that song, I would go happily. I'd be even happier than attending a Dream Theater concert. That song live is all I need.

A story short.
"Who writes that? Who writes such an intricate piece?" Well - these guys! Keep in mind that the first LTE album was recorded before Jordan Rudess (keyboards) joined Dream Theater - at the time Mike Portnoy (drums) and John Petrucci (guitar) were in DT - and Jordan was invited to join DT shortly after the LTE sessions. Tony Levin (bass and Chapman Stick) has been a highly sought-after session musician for decades - he is a permanent fixture for Peter Gabriel and has been for decades. He is currently a member of King Crimson, has formed "The Levin Brothers" with his pianist brother Pete (performing some sweet jazz), and is the founder of Stick Men - (Tony on Chapman Stick, Pat Mastelotto on drum "sticks", and Marcus Reuter on his own "U8" touch guitar, which is very similar to a Chapman Stick)
True story: I was in high school when this album came out (their second and I thought the first one melted my brain) and I almost got into a legit fist fight with a guy because he argued Tool's Anema was the best and most musically talented and imaginative album of all time and I argued this was.
