Sincerely, check out When the Water Breaks from the same show. One of the most impressive live performances I've ever witnessed. Right behind or tied for first is their interpretation of Rhapsody in Blue.
Guys - I always enjoy your well-informed and genuine emotional reactions. There are some videos on RUclips that show experts playing the Chapman stick. They can make it sound like almost anything. LTE encompasses hundreds of years of talent and experience.
Yep the Chapman stick is extremely versatile. Even though Tony Levin is a bassist so he focused on that there's other players like Robert Culbertson that actually plays classical music on it and in that case it actually sounds closer to a clavicord (A really old piano you've probably heard being used on Baroque or Classical era music instead of a grand piano) very eerie sounding but also devilishly difficult instrument to master
You should hear and watch Liquid Tension Experiment - When The Water Breaks, it's very emotional, and Petrucci did one of his best solo here. Totaly recommended masterpiece
That was a masterclass performance. And your outro surely was the most progressive outro you’ve ever done, but it was still listenable. dg dg dggg dg dong didi dong. Means: Love you, guys.
This is one of my favourite one of LTE . I like both of your reaction. The way both of you just enjoying the music makes me happy. Reminds me how I used to listen to this and airplay all the instruments . Thanks .
Thank you for doing this song (Acid Rain by Liquid Tension Experiment) - it is a pure adrenaline RUSH !!! You guys are awesome, and I really enjoyed watching your reaction to this powerhouse of a song.
Another great reaction with Sistah moving, shaking and getting excited only with music!!! and my friend Wolf.....jajajaja introspective, listening to every little and meticulous detail of the song, every note!. ¡CHICOS, SOIS MUY GRANDES! As Wolf says, the first instrument would be some kind of percussion, probably a Cro-Magnon man hitting another man on the head with a big stick to take away the mammoth he had hunted. Or maybe it was The Flintstones!!!🤣 To be honest, when I first started listening heavy metal, probably 1982 or 1983, I was very averse to so-called progressive metal. It was a current that, although it had already existed since the 70s, sounded to me like what? A different kind of metal than Iron Maiden? What the hell is this? But, a few years later, I decided to give it a try and bought the vinyl albums, which I still have, Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime and Dream Theater's When Day and Dream Unite and... wow!!! (Allow me just a little memory to the vocalists, before saying goodbye. As far as debut albums ago you could do much worse than Dream Theaters 1989 'When Dream and Day Unite'. While not as focused as later albums in the bands acclaimed discography, there is a youthful energy here that is addictive to listen to and is something you can only really experience with the debut one. Even singer Charles Dominici has a few shining moments here despite being overshadowed by his replacement, James LaBrie, on later albums. With that said there are certainly stand outs here that still remain some of DT's moments) It was after four albums with Dream Theater that ""Mike Portnoy, their drummer at the time, received a request from his record company to form a band made up of great progressive rock talent. He selected - Tony Levin: experienced bassist, member of King Crimson and shows his talent with a highly complex instrument such as the Chapman Stick. - John Petrucci: Renowned guitarist, former partner of Mike Portnoy at Dream Theater. - Jordan Rudess: Current Dream Theater keyboardist, songwriter, and producer. and himself, - Mike Portnoy, drummer, former member of the group Dream Theater, O.S.I. and Transatlantic. Awarded every year from 1995 to 2006 as the best progressive rock drummer by Modern Drummer magazine"" (In quotes "".... "" are data from Wikipedia, not me so, for sure, it's written in proper english and not my bla bla bla shitty english) 🙈 So.... bye, bye vocalists, Liquid Tension Experiment (LTE) was born to make music only. And what music!!! Think LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT is not a band, but a group of friends and great musicians who admire, respect each other and enjoy playing together. The self-demand, both personal and group, is very high, taking their compositions to a level of technique, execution and intensity that is difficult to match by other bands. It seems that they are in “jam session” mode constantly. The chemistry between the four of them is brutal. Special mention for the amazing rapport and level of replication that John and Jordan have, the latter seeming practically another guitar. For me the Petrucci/Rudess couple could be compared to Smith/Murray in IRON MAIDEN or Tipton/Downing in JUDAS PRIEST for their level of understanding and their importance and weight in the compositions and execution of the songs. I think Portnoy was born to play with Petrucci, nobody knows how to decorate the bearded guitarist like he does and it seems like they never stopped playing together. In addition to the fact that he doesn't hit a bad shot, it doesn't matter where he decides to go with the drumsticks, it always fits and suits the song well. The perfect production. Fight of zero egos. No instrument above another. A clarity of sound for each member, so that you can follow each instrument separately and individually and thus taste the greatness of these masters of music. This gives you the opportunity to listen to the work from the perspective of each instrument without any problems. Acid Rain belongs to LTE's second studio album, where the songs are wonderful, technical and complex as well as accessible in terms of sound and treatment of the melodies. Very versatile songs, with an excessive degree of neatness, structured in two large blocks. On the one hand, from the beginning, with Acid Rain, up to and including track 5, with songs with an accelerated profile, heavies, endowed with great structures, tremendous riffs, counterpoints and impressive solo lines, and later a second section, based on songs slower, more ambient, from track 6, "Chewbacca", the most experimental and least dynamic cut on the album, to the tremendous finale of the ballad "Hourglass", with a beautiful piano structure and brilliant acoustic guitar work . Complex, elegant, technical and full of class and talent Progressive Metal, this time moving away from more experimental patterns reflected in their previous LP, focusing on very dynamic songs, full of intensity and tremendously effective melodic lines. One of the three best instrumental albums I have ever heard.
@@HalfLifeSistah Yeah, that's what I think, music in its purest form. If they drove a DeLorean and traveled to the 18th century, Beethoven might not have been number one. Or maybe he would compose for them to play his symphonies. I don't even know what I'm saying...🤪 they are true music-making machines. As always, big hug from Spain 🤘🤘🤘
Kia ora hello my friends from aotearoa new zealand how are you doing? Hay guys please check out DEATHGAZM by BULLET BELT female vocalist will freak you out They are from Wellington Aotearoa New Zealand
These LTE records are about: Hey Mike Varney, look at what we can do. It is not about music at all. It is academic vainglory from Juilliard and Berklee. Real music sounds good and technicality is an afterthought. You only use the notes you need, not as many as possible to turn the sheet music black as night. Less is more. Actually, Moore is more. Egomania first ends up sounding like 20th century 12 tone music, or Frank Zappa, or post Kevin Moore era Dream Theater. No one is buying this garbage. Drag Dr. Moore out of the damn chemistry lab and put his ass back on keys. @@HalfLifeSistah

WHEN THE SOLO FINISHED, THE MAN SAID "THAT IS GOOD" HAHAHAH i loved it!!!! ... this is probably one of the best guitar solos in history imho
This was a nice treat. Nice seeing you guys again. I hope you guys get around listening to their other stuff. They have 3 albums at this point! :)
You should see their cover of Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue. IT IS BEYOND EPIC AND AMAZING!!
What and amazing bunch of musicians! All I can say is wow!
Tony Levin is playing a Chapman Stick, and…. Well, he’s rather good isn’t he! Lol!
This is pure ART!

Thank you! Will do! :-* ♥
The bongos you were hearing are Jordan Rudess on the keyboard btw, he plays a second percussion part with Portnoy via the keyboard
The bass is a chapman stick with Tony Levin playing

2:15 and onwards sounds like it came straight out of a bullet hell/Touhou game
The guitar and keyboard solos were both improvised live
"Skillz to pay the billz".🤣
Pick any song from this show, my favorites are Biaxident and a killer version of Rhapsody in Blue

FUN FACT: They wrote this song in half an hour as one of the guys had to leave early because his wife was about to go into labor.
You're talking about 'When the water breaks'
Yet another platform for EGOmania. Fail. 🙄
Haha! What are you referring to?
Just a doofus Troll looking for attention.@@HalfLifeSistah
Ooohh! I think I know what he was referring to! I think he is talking about the band xD
