I am a major fan of the man from Ireland who is known for delay and a good few years back I bought the Korg SDD3000 pedal version and I love it. As a bed room player I get a lot of joy and many hours of fun from it as well as setting in a non edge fashion. I think anyone who decides to buy this and they are a fan boy like me will get plenty of enjoyment from it. Regardless of what the difference are between it and the original rack mounted unit

Hello. I have a tc 2290 with controller 0144. Last year I got a timeline. It seemed quite similar to me although there are big differences in this case I felt the same with tc 2290p in this video. The original tc2290 does not sound compressed, it sounds very spacious and very clear. In addition to having other benefits.
There are comments here that explain it technically better than I can.
But I am glad that there is a new generation of the legendary.

It's pretty amazing to me that the TC 2290 sound as good to me as the original. I love how there is so many small pedals out now which might help you have more room on your pedal board if you want one and the TC 2290 is pretty small for a multi effects pedal. It's even smaller than my Boss ME-25. My Boss ME-25's battery compartment is broken ahahah, but it still works perfectly with a power cable plugged into it and I don't feel like I would ever take it off my pedal board anyways because it's stuck on there very strongly. On my pedal board with the current cables I use with it, I have all my pedals spaced out enough so I can easily unplug cables and plug in cables if I wanted to plus I put a power bar on the side of it with strong sticking velcro that came with the pedal board, but the only way I can fit it in the bag is if the power cables are unplugged from the power bar. Once it fits in the bag it doesn't fit so tight that I feel like it's going to brake the zipper if I close it which is nice.

Ducked delay or reverb was not invented by TC!
It was a studio engineering trick that was developed in the studio by side chaining a compressor.
TC merely copied an already known effect signal path and brought it to a wider user base

The analog circuitry in the original 2290 makes a big difference. Panning happens on analog signal, post D/A conversion, modulating voltage of two VCAs. Ducking too! Feedback is analog! Filters in the feedback are analog. Conversion at 1 MHz is a whole different thing. Maybe on a direct input guitar you can be fooled but running things on true line levels is a different story. The real voltages in the TC2290 make a huge difference.

Interesting choice by TC to bring an original. In the intro playing, even over youtube, one of them sounded considerably better to me. I had somewhat expected to be pleasantly surprised hearing them side by side (such comparisons did a lot for me for the UA amp sim stuff) but here unfortunately it's the opposite. Pretty bummed by this new product, a lot of us want a 2290 but at this point it's not just the expense it's the inconvenience and the age of the originals. Maybe someone else will make a better effort.

Once you spend time with the og units, you can relate the differences much more precise. It’s never in the places you listen for with the straight sound of the guitar. The unique presentation of the effect is a dynamic shape not a 2 dimensional rise and fall of EQ.
Basically. It comes down to the relationship of TONE and TIMBRE

into a stereo digital delay to knob twiddle shimmer et al delay = job done, delay stacking done… I use a Boss CH1 in front on my MXR CC delay faking as a flange for extra wobble 😜
