Thank-you for posting but WAY too much talking with no real demonstration of the tie down itself.... (a 13 minute video for a simple tie down instruction?)
I have followers who know me. This video is not specific to you. I explained and showed the setup. If you didn’t like it you didn’t need it to comment or watch it all the way through
Yes, way too much talking and no real demonstration. The fact is that he knows nothing about hauling bikes and is just posting videos to make youtube money and not really doing demonstrating.
I love when you comment. You’re a class act and are clearly super knowledgeable. Thanks for being you superstar!
Way too much talking.
👍🏻
Had a friend strap his bike by the handle bars and bent them. I was compressing the forks, and one time didn't compress them enough. I hit a bump and one hook dropped off. Saw it on the rear camera before the bike fell off. This looks like the best and safest method to ratchet strap a bike. Got it on a rail on the back of the motorhome, and still working on a way to do this alone, because sometimes that's just the way it is. Can't wait to tighten the heck out of it, and finally make it rock solid back there. So hard to drive a 40 ft diesel pusher, with one eye on the camera all the time checking if the bike is okay. Thanks for the great info.
Yeah that sounds stressful! lol. And yeah unfortunately I’ve heard a lot of similar stories to that. Do it like this and you’ll be good! No more worrying
Thank you for sharing brother bout to head to daytona for bike week. This was super helpful. Love your channel man watch your videos all the time because i also have a low rider s super awesome channel. Keep up the great work brotha 🤘 stay safe man
Happy to help man! Thanks for watching and be safe & have fun! 👊🏻
Hi,
I’m about to trailer a sport bike and picked up some regular ratchet straps, how would you recommend I use them for the front tie down? I ask because it looks like the straps you used don’t have the metal hooks that come with “regular” ratchet straps. Thanks!
You can do what I just did with the hooks also instead of looping it around, but if you have very skinny ratchet straps like the typical straps you buy for a few bucks at the store then I would not recommend doing it with those because they are just too flimsy. You can do the old-school train of thought. It’s just going to not be great, but you can only use what your straps are capable of doing.
Thank you very much for this video, it helped a lot!!
Happy to help!
Really love how you "showed" us how to do the best way.
It’s literally on video. What more do you want? Do I need to show you how to use a ratchet strap too? Come on man
@@RidinDadThis is why mum doesn't respect you, dad.
Mom*, and your mother or mine? Because they both respect me I assure you
Boom, helpful video. My Harley garage is an hour away so if anything ever happens that isn't a half a day fix I would have transport the LRS like this. Thanks RidinDad.
Good deal man!
Nothing helpful about this video. He does way too much talking and the little bit of talking about hauling bikes that he does shows that he doesn't know how to haul bikes.
Do you just not have a hobby or a life? Or is your life just so pathetic and sucky you have to comment on my videos over and over again. No one is making you watch these. I truly feel sorry for you
Thanks for the video.. never liked strapping the handles or triple tree
Yupp there ya go. Much better way!
there is a unspoken rule in the trucking industry { you can under secure a load but you can never over secure a load } I would use a few more going back and at least one around the front tire going foward don`t try to use the least amount of straps but instead use a few extra straps for redundancy in case one comes loose or breakes the others will hold it
There’s no reason these straps would ever come loose though. These tank straps don’t even stretch at all. That’s why they’re so expensive and they work so well. No need for redundancy. They have a super high tensile strength as well
Brother, strapping very low(at base) of fork arms and stretching outwords with hard force, doesn't it bend the forks out words ? I mean, putting the entire motorcycle weight on just edges of fork arms will not going to make fork arms disalign?? Please share you thoughts
Nope. I’m not the first one to do this method. I’ve used it on baggers too. This has been tested and is proven to be the best method to strap bikes down. Doesn’t matter the weight. Just need good straps like the ones I used in this video
@RidinDad CAA towing guy strapped my zx10r 2023 from Axle/Fork/wheel joint area with force pulling outwords. Starping through that points will it bend/damage the fork arms? or you would say that fine cause axle bolt keeps the axle in place tightly without allowing forks to bend outwords. I red so many forms it says its bad to strap that low. Whats your thoughts
I just gave you my thoughts. I e traveled thousands of miles with multiple bikes strapped this way. I know several company’s who sell and buy bikes and strap this way. I will continue to do it and I have no fear of strapping this way.
About to go down to Florida for bike week this will be some helpful Information! I also need to know how to put bike in transport mode hopefully it's in video!
Hey, I don’t remember if I covered it in the video or not but I’ll just explain it because it’s super easy. Turn the bike on without starting the engine at all and then turn it off right after. Then hold down both turn signals at the same time and on the screen it should come up saying T sport mode. To get out of that mowed you just start the bike with the key fob present and it automatically kicks out. Hope that helps!
@@RidinDad thanks man!
Have fun!!
@@RidinDad worked like a charm! Thanks!
Sweet!!!
I find if you mount it to the ceiling it wont tip over
LOL that’s my next trial period
Good idea, don't want to be rude; in place of talking so much, why not showing how to?
I explained and showed how to in the video. If you can’t figure it out you shouldn’t be strapping down your own bike anyway.
@@RidinDad First time seeing your channel, in the end it’s completely up to you and you shouldn’t police yourself just for others.
But you arguing with commenters that simply point out that you’re a little long winded isn’t a good look.
Haven’t watched the video yet but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, hope you’re able to take this piece of constructive criticism better than you took theirs.
Everyone’s got an opinion. And you know what they say about those….
He didn't show how to because he doesn't know anything about hauling bikes. He is just being an entertainer on youtube.
@RidinDad does way too much arguing with commenters. He doesn't know what he is talking about and gets pissed off when somebody calls him on it. He is just being an entertainer on youtube and can't stand any comment that doesn't praise him.
What keeps it from rocking forward and backward if the straps are straight out from the fork tubes?
If they are tight enough it will barely move forward to back. Maybe an inch. Also keep it in gear. If you’re tight on space and can’t afford an inch of movement strap down the rear tire
Thank goodness for fast forward. You're a little long winded.
Oh boy I really appreciate that. What would I do with out comments like that. You don’t have to watch these videos ya know? I’ll be sure to check out your channel and see what video quality you’re producing!
Lmfao, thanks bro, I'll be sure to fast forward the long breathing.
Why don’t you just fast forward through the whole video
I wore that fast forward button out
Great. Sweet. Hopefully you don’t watch any of my others
Thanks
👊🏻
Seems like a lot of people are telling you that you talk too much and you don't like the feedback...welcome to the internet...anyway, I won't be as rude as some of the others but I do agree you sort of rambled on at times. Just trying to give constructive feedback...I don't need a snarky reply, but if you must feel free. Anyway, I'll be trying to trailer a bike hopefully soon and this did at least give some helpful pointers, so thanks at least for that much....
Glad it helped. This is also a very old video of mine so I e evolved some of my editing/camera speaking. The problem is not with constructive criticism. It’s with rude ignorant people. It’s completely free not to watch. I understand this is the internet which is why I reply in the same way I receive the comments
@@RidinDad well how can a person know how good/bad a video is without watching it first?? lol anyway it's all good man...as the old saying goes, don't feed the trolls.
@tyslink the best part is at the end of the video he says "whether you think I'm stupid or a genius leave a comment and let me know" so he shouldn't get defensive when ppl tell the truth. As a new bike owner with the exact same van it would be nice to see how he tied it down instead of just yapping about nothing for 10 minutes.
If you watched it you would see I did show you how to do it.
hoping youtube has a 5x vid speed. my kid graduated from college and had 4 kids during this video.
It would be even cooler if RUclips had the ability to not force you to watch this video. Or maybe even not force you to comment. Oh wait, you actually did not have to do either of those so congratulations. Thanks for watching and commenting, though, you’re helping out my channel. Super fun chatting with you, I look forward to the next time!
Show the strapping down.
Ok
Weak visuals…
Many thank yous sensei 🙏
@@RidinDad thank you for the polit response… I was really interested in seeing better visuals on attach points to the bike and to the trailer… thx
Well, I showed it in this video. If you were genuinely wanting to see more, you could have sent me a message on Instagram where I could’ve sent you pictures or had a good conversation with you about it if you wanted or commented on this saying that you really are confused about the set up, and if there was any other way, I could show you more in depth about the points of attachment. What you said was weak visuals, which is a rude comment followed by several dots. No part of that makes me think that you genuinely care to see better visuals.
@@RidinDad thank you sir but .. I think that your visuals worked for you because you “ knew what you meant”… so ?.. I will be clearer. I would like to had a better view of how the straps wrap around the front forks… the “ head on from the front” perspective didn’t give me what I was hoping for.
…all the talking….. all in needed was… hey guys ..I’m panning , close up, to show the strap from the front fork to tie down point on the van…. And … here is the same connection one the rear of the bike , and then moving out to the termination connecting at the van.
Thanks for the help… looking forward to the 2.0
At 5:03… great start but I would have liked to see that same shot from the diagonal/ side so that I could have seen how / where the straps actually wrap around the tube.
Similar comment for the rear strap connection to the bike.
Also “ from the lowest point on the fork”…:does appear to be working for you but the fork has a greater leverage advantage that close to the pivot point ( the floor) ..Your use of high end straps ( not the cheap kind) is important advice but if there is another place possible higher up/ farther from the floor, the straps would sustain less tension stress while holding the bike more rigidly. Others have mentioned the negatives of strapping down from the triple tree as when the bikes shocks compress, the too of the bike will come down possible loosening the straps too much ( if only for the short moment … so connecting to the “ non sprung portion” of the frame is more stable..
Certainly your method works for you…
Thx
jesus how much chat are we supposed to listen to before you just show us how to tie down the bloody thing !!! 13mins long !!!!
You could listen to 0 chat and piss right off actually
You ain’t showing shit you gotta aim that camera on what you’re talking about
How about you aim your mouse to a different channel and click off of mine amigo
At 5 minutes in the camera is moved and you can see exactly what I’m talking about but I’m assuming you didn’t even bother watching it and just decided to comment your smooth brain comment …
@@RidinDad
LMAO!
That was a pretty nice STFU you slipped back to the dude complaining about
FREE CONTENT.
They just don't get it.
Anyway, mu damn bike tipped over on me in an enclosed trailer somewhere within 45 minutes from home on a 5.5-hour trip.
I've loaded MX bikes a million times from the bars without issue, so I just didn't consider my bagger needing anything different.
I like the idea of not compressing the suspension you showed here, and the bike is going back to work with me on Tuesday.
She gets the hell rode out her, so between being weathered a bit, and having highway bars it took no real damage other than the clutch perch spun till the lever was pointing down, just a few smacks with my hand hammer and all good.
Another old MX thing, I don't tighten may whatever we call the assembly that holds each lever, turn, start etc.
You dump MX bikes all the time, so with those not being insanely tight they will give / spin and save the levers from snapping.
I still do it in case I want to give them an up or down fist adjustment for a more comfortable position.
Thanks for the idea brother.
I try lol. And that sucks man. But at least not much damage happened thankfully. Hopefully you’ll be good in the future, I really like this method a lot. Used it for several thousand miles now with never any issue.
its getting worse. im out.
Bubye
I'm still laughing at this vid! How much verbal nonsense is one expected to suffer through to learn your method of tie-down??
Hopefully less than the written nonsense that’s coming from you. Thanks for watching though. Make sure to like and subscribe
jesus. get on with it.....
Ok Dave
Get to your point man
I’m so terribly sorry. I’m assuming your videos are much better? Lemme check hang on
Hey I’m back. Oop, looks like you have no videos. I’ll check back in a few weeks to see what I should model mine after. Thanks again! Pleasure speaking with you
@@RidinDad drone
Appreciate the input, but no, this was filmed with a camera on a tripod. I do own a drone, maybe you are right and I should start incorporating that footage more into my videos.
@@RidinDad meant, you drone on dude. I may not make videos but I’ve addressed audiences of hundreds and even thousands MANY times over a 40 year career and often for 2+ hours giving presentations. Make a salient point every 3 minutes or less, less is better. State the point, make the point, then show how you made the point, then on to the next pertinent point. Summation of the collective points supports the premise of the discussion or presentation. Did you EVER discuss suspension compression? Pressure on the seals?
Anyway, take the criticism and move on… you’ll make better vids if you take the critiques.
i know this was a year ago but dam @davelafontaine1709 is apparently YOUR BIGGEST HATER For no reason
lol yeah man 🤷♂️ I don’t know. Dave feels very strongly about my video 😂
