Actually, calling these winds supersonic is a bit of a stretch. If a layer of atmosphere is moving at supersonic speed vs surface does not mean anything scary unless this layer actually is in contact with surface. If you are in this layer, you wouldn't even know, as you will be moving with it. There should be a strong vertical gradient of wind speed and winds at surface probably are not at supersonic. Supersonic has only a meaning where it is something that is going at a relative velocity to the fluid. If the whole fluid has this speed it does not matter much.

Thanks for putting so much thought and heart into your videos!
You know, I think your videos are the best I have ever seen on space and astronomy! They're full of fascinating facts and information, but you never sensationalise them or dumb them down, keeping the viewer's attention with quality images and animations, and your very obvious love for the subject. In these days where the majority of television and film (and politics in my opinion) consists largely of a constantly re-stated celebration of ignorance, boorishness, and science denial, these videos are like a shot of concentrated hope and enthusiasm for humanity. I know that sounds overly dramatic, but I always feel better about our species after watching them.

Man if I was watching PBS as a kid and your content came up I don't think I could cope. Congrats on making more interesting television than entire multi-billion dollar networks.
The idea of a captured moon is absolutely fascinating, I guess we'll never know where Triton originated from, perhaps in the future we'll spot some similar sized bodies traversing the galaxy alone. And if Triton is a captured body then I wonder how many similar sized bodies have passed through our solar system and kept on going over the last few billion years. And how many earth to Jupiter sized bodies are whizzing around our galaxy outside of solar systems? Astronomy is awesome, I hope we're wrong about physics because exploring the universe in FTL ships would be awesome, maybe we'd have scout ahead ships to prevent collisions with the main ship.
Please do eventually make an episode on the layers of the Earth's atmosphere. RUclips currently lacks a video on the subject with such high caliber writing, production and narration.

I just listen to your videos while working, your voice would be perfect for an audiobook about the cosmos.
small correction is Jupiter's great read spot is not permanent. it has been shrinking a lot for the past few hundred years. it used to be 40,000 kilometers wide, but now it is a mere 16,000 kilometers wide.
Hello, I'm an Interpreter of Astronomy and art instructor from Vancouver, BC and I love your channel. This episode was excellent! I learned some new info that I can share in the Solar System presentation I give in the planetarium. I would love it if you created a similar series about the newest exoplanets found. Thanks for putting so much thought and heart into your videos!
Ah my favorite greek mythology character, S/2004 N 1.
Weird flex but ok
@@rmacdlol whoosh
You know, I think your videos are the best I have ever seen on space and astronomy! They're full of fascinating facts and information, but you never sensationalise them or dumb them down, keeping the viewer's attention with quality images and animations, and your very obvious love for the subject. In these days where the majority of television and film (and politics in my opinion) consists largely of a constantly re-stated celebration of ignorance, boorishness, and science denial, these videos are like a shot of concentrated hope and enthusiasm for humanity. I know that sounds overly dramatic, but I always feel better about our species after watching them.
It's the second video I watch. Your videos are so relaxing. Most of the other RUclipsr's speak with such a loud voice, you are much more calm. Subscribed
The most beautiful planet in existence by my opinion and my most favorite of all of them ❤
I think an episode on Pluto would be great but I think you should wait until most data from new horizons is processed.
Arthera
Arthera Pluto on its own is boring. Instead he could make a long video explaining all of the dwarf planets. Starting at Ceres and ending at Sedna would be really fun.
@@vincaman5664 watch his current video about Pluto. So far from boring!
Vinčaman lol, Pluto sucks.
Your background abient tracks are all awesome. Great vids.
Es maravilloso poder observar los planetas como nos lo muestran ustedes y saber más acerca de nuestro sistema solar, gracias por compartir.
Thank you for such concise descriptions of the planets and their moon's, no glamourising just the facts with great imaging, well done.
Best channel on RUclips for Astronomy
Lovely and informative film, Alex, as always
I like that way you talk :)
Great video - love the format and historical background - very well done .
Neptune and its moons is far more intriguing than I ever knew.
Yes Planet Neptune has a Wacky Moon System (Dued to Triton's capture) So unique.
Great video, it was suprising to find out that the spots of Neptune are long gone!
The lack of "Earth is flat, and so is my brain" comments on these videos is very refreshing! How did you manage to keep them away?
Surprised no planks here saying CGI and space is fake... Makes a change. Great vid
@Bob Dillahunty no just no
@Bob Dillahunty so its NSAA
@Bob Dillahunty and they didnt fix it
@Bob Dillahunty you have spoken true words
@Bob Dillahunty live up and make your dreams come true my friend
13:00 nice easter egg ;) The Iris is watching over us all.
You have done a fine job. My experience and academics concerning astronomy are slightly greater than the normalcy, yet your explanation is well done. Especially, in comparison to the few I have viewed. WELL DONE!
Man if I was watching PBS as a kid and your content came up I don't think I could cope. Congrats on making more interesting television than entire multi-billion dollar networks.
My favorite planet!! I am so glad I found you on the space Reddit thread. I'm going to watch all your planet videos now!
Please do... :D
Sailor Neptune is why I like Neptune.
TheRenegadeStarr gay
Except you cant have creepy fantasy cartoon sex with a planet!
wayne andrews the old bee keeper Yes, Neptune was a lesbians. State another obvious ass comment
tyler a you projecting your inner creepy fantasy on to me is irrelevant.
Leviticus 18:22
My favorite planet ! Has been since I did a school science project on Voyager 1 & 2. Thank you for this video.....Exellent as always
You have such a soothing voice to listen to
Well THAT was a nice find out in RUclips land. You just got another subscriber.
It's on my list!! :)
DB Pooper I would like that too!
+Astrum I am anxiously waiting to see it.
That would be great, though I can tell that Earth is very special to you
Unlike Uranus, I adore Neptune and his comrade Triton!!! They are both brilliant!!! Thank you, Voyager 2, for those beautiful photographs!!!
Neptune is my favorite Planet and my favorite moon is Triton. I love Neptune's vivid blue color and streak white cirrus clouds reminds me of Earth. It has a weird wacky Moon system(probably dued to Triton's capture by Neptune's gravity)and I love it's gangling ring arc's is one of a kind in our Solar System. 1500 mph winds, 14 strange looking moons. Neptune is definitely Unique. Astronomers say Saturn is the most beautiful planet and I agree but I love Planet Neptune more than Saturn. Uranus is cool too after all it is the Coldest Planet in our Solar System
I like uranus and Neptune.
It's so hard to find intelligent content on the web let alone RUclips so I really appreciate your videos. Carry on
my fav mystical planet, coldest yet has heat. winds against rotation - magically powerful, its own gravity - power outweights most biggest power - sun's, mysterious powerful lonely planet, all in silence and darkness, yet so familiar blue like an ocean or sky, watching the fiesta of the solar from far corner and seeing all from outside point of view. has everything and nothing at the same time.
loved the video, the voice, accent, content, like a fairytale of wonders and miracles before bed time.
finally neptune. btw i love your channel. its good. keep it up +astrum, your amazing. :)
Please do one on Pluto and the other dwarf planets we know of.
Yeah, Pluto's been completely forgoten :(
Automaton M99, I'd like that too! Just because Pluto isn't a major planet anymore doesn't mean it's not intreguing.
Pluto is the only mum Disney animal. Goofy huh?
Pluto SUCKS
Noot will thats very rude
Here after watching the film Event Horizon. Subscribed.
Pacey Plodder yes definitely became intrigued with Neptune’s haunting beauty via the most terrifying and underrated sci fi horror classic.
Love your enthusiastic, fact laden, evidence based delivery. Why does RUclips interrupt your thought provoking post with an ad in which an ET doppelgänger looks earnestly into the camera uttering those intellect crushing and insulting words....”I have seen aliens.....”
Really mate, have you...?
Uranus and Neptune are almost like twins. my two favorite planets. their colors' gorgeous.
Such amazing detail I've yet to see from any other Astro related videos. Great work!
This is the *EPICEST* planet bro.
my fav planet for sure. its so beautiful omg

All very fascinating. I’m on a binge of these
Neptune looks like a giant circular water drop and a killerwale is inside of it. Very beautiful. Thanks for the video.
I really appreciate your hard work on this video. I fully enjoyed this and learned a lot from it. Thanks friend 👍
Neptune was always my favorite planet it was always so mysterious and stood out to me but everyone’s favorite growing up was Saturn 🪐
Scientists say Planet Saturn is the most beautiful Planet in our Solar System. But I love Planet Neptune more than Saturn.
Neptune is my favorite planet too. And Neptune's Moon Triton is my favorite moon.
To quote Mr Spock, "fascinating!"
More Our Solar Systems Moons videos and a playlist for them. Love the channel.
Hearing about the planets in our solar system honestly really gets My creature gears turning, imagine the narratives one could spin from these kinds of places!
Really enjoyable and so well explained you must be a teacher.
Tritan is absolutely one of the most beautiful mooons in the solar system!
It is. It's my favorite moon
I've always been interested in neptune. it's my favourite planet, if I have the chance I would like to work in nasa and try to go to neptune (:
You can't land on it cuz it's gas but maybe they might find the technology

@@PikaNoobYT Yeah but you can still fly thru Neptunian skies and don't forget the moons you can land on them and see big blue Neptune in the Background
Same for me also
After watching this video over and over, now it has been put into my recommendation page... thank you YT, Thank you.
Love Neptune. Thanks for the video.
Your videos are spectacular! I've always been fascinated by planetary science! Neptune needs its own mission! You should do Pluto and Charon next! I would consider doing the moons and dwarf planets of our Solar system next! Your videos are done so well! Triton is my favorite moon! The nitrogen geysers alone are so intriguing! Triton is very similar to Pluto. It's probably a captured KBO. Keep up the great work! Thank you very much!
Yeah I read somewhere that Triton was a planet once, that is why its acting so differently from all the moons in our Solar System. :'D
Neptune is my favorite Planet too and Triton is also my favorite Moon.
Time to send an orbiter for long term study. Come on NASA!
“Uranus wasnt in right orbit”
and then isaac newton said “give this planet gravity”
Ur anus 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@don4techy Uranus is pronounced
Urine-nus as of 2010. It's a pee joke now.

I never knew that much about Neptune before I watch your video. Very interesting.
Thank you.
Wow what a nice, beautiful video. This was very clear and straightforward. Thanks!
I've been waiting a long time for this one!!!! Thank you much!!
Neptune is such a pretty planet cuz ya know it has a very beautiful blue
Amazing, so relaxing Subscribed!
Thank you for explaining this interesting information in a manner that is accessible to non scientists.
Seriously, a fine and enjoyable video. Thanks.
