My Volkswagen Polo's fan didn't work on the lowest speed setting. This series of photos shows you step-by-step how to replace the fan resistor, which is awkwardly located behind the glovebox/cubby-hole.

That resistor is for what? I have a polo 9n that dont heat inside, what can be the cause?

+Edgar Costa if I remember correctly, the resistor controls the fan speed selector. My car's fan didn't work at the lowest speed.

      thermostat

Ignore the know nothing that said thermostat, even of the thermostat was stuck wide open the heaters would still get hot eventually, probably the blower motor that controls the flaps that divert the air past the heater matrix if they're controlled electronically, if it's an older car (not a polo 9n) the flaps are controlled mechanically, check the cables behind the temperature dial and make sure the flaps move freely

rolling584 shut up, if you don't know what you're taking about then don't bother trying to 'help'
