I’ve got an original Mk1 Scout in 308 Win. Love it. Trigger is super light and crisp.
Mine came with 10 round mags and mag well extension, which fulfills Cooper’s original ethos of being able to carry 20 rounds.
Check in front of spare mag well; there should be a cubbyhole accessible from a latch in the mag well itself. Perfect for a boresnake.
Original butter knife bolt handle is nicer than current ball, as it fits flush to the side of the rifle.
T8 reflex moderator was made for the Scout, so worth sourcing if you want rifle to remain compact. Mine is 20 years old and still good (despite claims that they rot out; usually due to lack of maintenance).

A 16" barrel , and shorter sturdier bipod legs, would be more like it .

I really like the spare mag holder and the lock down bolt. The bipod legs look a bit flimsy, do they feel robust? I'm not that keen on them tbh, and too high to be practical for my shooting. I'm looking forward to your review 👍

The true utility of the Steyr Scout bipod is on par with the original M16 bipod-typically carried in a belt pouch. It allows you to put the rifle down without laying it on its side on damp grass, mud, dirt or gravel. The Scout bipod allows you to keep the rifle clean/unscarred and your scope lenses dry! Some NZ Army personnel used the M16 bipod with their SLR L1A1 rifles. I know this because I was there.
One idiot here in Wellington, NZ wasted a lot of a commercial reloader’s time by doing his ‘accuracy’ testing with the Steyr Scout bipod deployed🧐. Enough said😂!

3,300g is quite different to the 3.0kg advertised weight from Steyr.

Are those bipod legs removable if you wanted to fit a different one

Nice rifle but they were always too heavy for the scout concept, shame they didn’t address this for the update.

True, but that (little) extra weight helps with the 308, as it can be a bit punchy with full power loads.

True, my Barrett Fieldcraft in .308 is just under 7lb with scope and mod. Lovely to carry but trickier to shoot straight.

      Which Ridgeline?

Christensen ridgeline, it was on a short.

@@richiedd4119 it probably didn't warrant a full review, i don't always get chance to video them all and written articles were at that time more profitable. It's not memorable

Still the wrong type of magazine, until it takes a universal AR15 or AI mag - 10+ rnds it still isn’t a scout rifle
