How "Support Local" is failing us.

  • The People who grift us and gaslight us the hardest about shopping local instead of the "big box store" are typically the people who fail at quality control, fail at competitive pricing, or fail at customer service.
It doesn't seem to matter whether it is an auto parts store, a gun store, or a Saw shop, the problems remain the same.
Don't let a poor outfit shame you into giving them your business when they don't hold up their end of the ethical bargain which they try to guilt-trip you into.

Check the firing pin!!! 😂 My brother gave me one of his old sniper rifles and when I went to sight it in it clicked. After an hour I finally figured it out.😂 Lesson learned! If I get a new one, I always strip it down to just parts and check and clp it all while I put it back together. That’s a nice looking rifle. I hope you enjoy it.

I have had similar experiences in the Northeast with all those you listed. I have found trustworthy shops, but I agree, you have to get hands on and inspect with everything these days. I would think they'll lose business overtime, but here we are. I have a Savage 10T that's one of my softest shooters as well. wish I had that rubber butt pad on my ar10.

If I ever put together an AR-10, I will absolutely be doing rifle length receiver extension and magpul fixed rifle stock.
I finally put that together for one of my AR-15 setups and I am thoroughly impressed.

Sadly we also have noticed the quality control at Savage Arms has gone down hill over the last 10-15 years. I blame it on mass production but one would think buying a higher end firearm from a local Gun Or Sporting Goods store there would be some level of competency in checking a "New in the Box" firearm would at the very least have the common sense to have an employee go over the rifle and check it before letting it go out the door. That too is a common sense service that you could used to figure on when buying from a reputable dealer or store. We feel your pain but now days the old saying of "you get what you pay for" means more than ever before. Unfortunately we will not purchase another Savage Arms Weapon because of issues just like this. I would rather buy a rifle that's used but in fantastic condition from a trusted Gunsmith than save a few dollars by purchasing from a "Store".

This is a used weapon from a "local store" and their "gunsmith" is responsible for this as far as I'm concerned.
Buy a new stripped weapon or a used stripped weapon, or a used weapon, or any weapon in any condition from any local shop and make sure you strip it and reassemble it yourself.

I would not buy at that store location again, too many problems and you are not being unreasonable.

I purchased a used pistol from the local privately owned Gun store, and it was in very good condition on the purchase day. It sat in their safe while processing the paperwork. When I got there to pick it up, it was missing the Tritium from the Trijicon front sight. The owner offered no explanation, but offered to let me out of the deal or he would mount a new sight if I bought a new one. He lost me as a return customer and I don't recommend him for future sales. How does a $160 site fall apart in the waiting period?

I remember you talking to me about that about your FN. I have no idea, but everybody acts like it isn't their problem, and then, often also, act like I am disloyal for buying my stuff online, or from the box store. Budsgunshop offers full value return/replace. Step up the customer service I think.
