Definitely - they are both L lenses and will have similar build quality. Feel free to check the lenses out at your nearest authorised Canon reseller. Let us know how you go. Cheers, the Canon team.
Thanks for your comment. We believe it was the one with IS. Hope you enjoy your EOS 5D Mk II soon! Thanks for continuing to support Canon. Cheers, the Canon team.
I am a Nikon shooter and i love this Canon Australia videos,i think they stay on the main point which is photograph and not products of their company...I really hope that hungry for money nikon will do the same ! My favourite channel !
@buningmendoza Thanks for your comment. We do not have plans to do that at this stage. However, we will keep it in mind for future tutorials. Cheers, the Canon team.
Its 10pm here where i am watching this clip and after seeing this video i just want to take some snaps straight away .. such an inspirational video .. even though he never inspires us by talking.. but truly his pictures and passion inspires me...
It is ultimately up to you, Anthony - both types of lenses gives you creative control over the shots you want to take. It also depends on the subjects themselves - some kids might be shy and you will need to be further from them for them to open up and still others love the camera. Experiment and see what you come up with. Cheers.
Thanks for your question. Since you are going to be investing a lot in this, best is to head in-store and talk to one of our authorised Canon resellers. Many thanks, the Canon team.
That's a great combo - it will give you room for the telephoto range of our lenses. You might want to invest in a wider lens as well in the future. Let us know how you go. Cheers, the Canon team.
I'm always amazed that no matter how proficient a person is in their craft, no matter how energized they are in articulating strategy in something that can be so complexed; someone always thumbs down (23). My friend great tips, great advice, great energy, great.great.great. and I'm a Sony shooter. God Bless Your Talent
@MIzzCuriousity It depends on your purpose for the lens. Both of them are top of the range lenses. What will you be using it primarily for? Cheers, the Canon team.
It's not about the camera, but the lens. A 35mm f/2.0 or 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4 would be perfect. Just shoot wide open, or close to wide open (f/1.4-f/2.8), and you'll get the same result. Make sure you're quite close to the subject.
ThankS! Im viewing tha website now .. I actually meant like a set up such as strobe kits, && softboxes but I guess thats not necessary since I see your video on speed lites
Graham definitely knows his tools of the trade! This is the type of information even a beginner (such as myself) can learn from - Not some camera shop sales person trying to push a lens (that is having difficulty selling) on his audience. Thanks for all you teach! ....Just wondering though... do you use protective filters on all or any of your lenses?
the picture of the baby that you show as an example of the 85mm f1.2, is a nice shot, but to me it doesn't look like it was shot at f1.2, so I am curious if it is f1.2 or what f stop it was shot at ? I am curious because I am considering buying this lens, thanks, enjoyed the video
Great video, very helpful indeed. I am using the 650d at the moment. Mainly for portrait, but what advice would you have for capturing good eye detail?
Thanx for the video. I am deciding to buy canon 550d with 50mm f1.4 and 55-250mm. I need to know should i go for this combo or should i buy some other lenses instead of this?
@TheLaibc2003 Hey there, a quick search on an Internet engine and you will be able to find some tutorials on how to do it. Let us know how you go. Cheers, the Canon team.
@alldayeveryday808 How about the EF 50mm f/1.4 lens (canon.com.au/For-You/Camera-Lenses/EF50mm-f14-USM-Lens)? It depends on the lighting system used. Some systems require a master flash. Let us know if you have further questions. Cheers, the Canon team.
Wow! I just got the 100mm macro but it is a bit too close up for portraits. What do you recommend that is not an L lens? Also when you use the reflectors, do you use a master flash aswell?
nice video,im a canon guy myself and an aspiring photographer.waiting for my 5d mk ii birthday gift from the misis.and hopefully a 16-25mm f2.8 and a 70-200 f2.8 is usm as ive already got the other beast which is the 24-70 f2.8 usm.in this video what kind of 70-200 f2.8 was it?as he didnt mentioned if it was with or without IS?
@CanonAustralia Would you recommend the canon 7D or the 60D? I recently had my entire set up stolen from my car when me and some friends were getting a bite to eat in Spokane, Washington. and I'm curious to see which is better. I usually shoot more sports and action photos but I'm really interested in going into macro and portrait photography. If you could recommend other things such as lenses and other equipment that would be amazing too!
@TheLaibc2003 Thanks for the offer. Please contact Graham directly should you wish to pursue this. His website is "gmphotographics". Cheers, the Canon team.
