Just found you I love this. My mind is racing figuring out colors and need to dig thru a box of scrapes. Like the addition of the green. Thanks for sharing your struggle. It really helped seeing how you thought and changed it up to be pleasing to what you had in mind but just a different color idea. I have made quilts off and on over the years. This one is really calling to me. Would be a cute baby quilt.

I love these videos and I also have a hard time getting the most squares where I want them. After a while I get so confused it's like putting a puzzle together. I will get someone to help me with the layout and that helps me. or I would just go away from it and work on it another day. Lol 😆

Like you, I just wasn"t lovin your first woven blocks, but I love your final version. The similarity to a plus block is great & they still show the woven effect. I find that if I make a quilt as I go, there is always a lot of switching fabrics around and having to start over if the block doesn't meet my expectation. Now, when I start putting one of these quilts together, I just expect the process will have a multiple revisions along the way. I don't really enjoy making scrappy quilts because of all the time & effort it takes to get the blocks to end up looking like you wanted. I though scrappy quilts were supposed to look good by making random fabric choices and not worrying about their placement but they really take considerable planning. You would think scrappy quilts would just come together organically and always look great, but in reality they take considerable planning and the ability to envision how all the different fabrics will work together. It takes a lot of work to make a quilt that looks random and at the same time has a cohesive look. I admire quilters who create fabulous scrappy quilts because they really are able to envision what they want their completed quilt to look like. .
Hi Ellen in Oregon! So I didn't expect the process to have any revisions, ha, ha, ha on me! You are right, scrappy quilts do take timeand a lot of placement. Iv'e seen severla come together organically and as I think about htem they are the ones that have a ton of different scraps. BTW, I have a friend who moved here from Oregon and her name is Ellen, :) She is a qilter also :) Thanks for commenting and watching my videos!!
4 years ago Missouri Star Quilts did a quilt called DREAM WEAVER. It is in her videos. I did this for my granddaughter. It is just like the one you are doing.
I love this quilt, I like it sashed, much better than your original version. In your yellow pile of scraps you had some ‘Pearl Bracelet’, that’s my daughter Lizzy House’s fabric, it’s always so fun to see other quilters using it!
How exciting 😱😊, I follow fabric designers and love your daughters line’s. Pearl bracelets are a classic, I wish they’d reprint. Two of my friends used them in our quilt retreat swap quilt. I’m sure you’re so proud of your daughter, she’s a smart cookie❣️ And yes, the sashing made the quilt. Thanks for commenting on my videos Cherri😍❣️
@@AnitaSouthall she is; Lizzy House, she used to design for Andover Fabric, but now she’s designing paper goods, and all kinds of delicious things; you can find her online.
I would cut the jellyroll strip in half, cut long pieces (4 1/2" for an 8" finished block?) with one side of the strip, and with the other side make a strip set with white and cut those in the same length as the long piece (4 1/2"). I also think this would be a great pattern to construct on point. As for the yellow pieces, add some rust, red, brown and green in any jelly roll pattern. and you have a nice autumn table runner. And yes, I spend way too much time trying to get the perfect layout for a scrappy quilt, but to me, that is part of the fun!
Thanks Paula and I"m glad to hear it's not jsut me that spends way to much time workign to make a perfect scrappy quilt, it is work :) On point, now that would be beautiful! Thank you for watching & commenting :)
I just love your finished product. That quilt took on a life of its own.. first woven blocks, then the plus blocks. In any case, you did a superb job on your colour🇨🇦 choices... I'd love to buy you a tea. How is it done from another country?🇨🇦🌹
Thank you Kara I'm so glad you like the plus block quilt and thank you for watching my channel. I believe you follow this link and use a credit card. www.buymeacoffee.com/sisterchicX
I loved how this quilt turned out. I had to laugh because I just finished a Halloween quilt top using scraps and fabric from my stash and a design I created in my head, and I had the same dilemma with shifting blocks around, and adding sashing, etc. In the end it turned out cute and I didn't spend any money... yet🤗
Yay for saving money 💰🤑💰 now you can spend it on more quilting projects✔️🤣😂 You’re right, Sashing in this case was the game changer. Thank you for watching my videos, I really appreciate it😍❣️
Yes, sashing is wonderful. Looks very good. (PS. This is Jayne but I'm computer/phone illiterate and can't figure out how to get hubby's name off and mine on..lol)
You know, I had a feeling you were to Fred😂, Thanks for letting me know Jayne. I have the same struggle with my electronics🤪😳, it’s a good thing we can quilt‼️
I really love your blocks. I made one similar using the 'card trick' block. I also sashed it too, and it came out enormous. I'm intimidated to finish it now. It's my second quilt.
Are you planning on quilting it yourself on your domestic? I’m not a fan of quilting great big quilts on a domestic, but of course I have a longarm. Just don’t be intimidated, you’ll love it when it’s finished. 👏👏👏👏 yay for having your second quilt done❣️ keep quilting and thanks for watching my videos 😊‼️
@@sisterchicksquilting Yes, probably something simple. I have a domestic. I only started quilting a few months ago and I'm not very good at free motion, so I won't do anything too tricky.
You’ve got this. I quilted a Queen on my domestic, however, it killed me and was my last before I started longarming. May the quilting Gods be with you. 😉
I do have a stack of them that I use. I really only use them for more complex blocks. They are the best tool❤️. Thanks for watching my channel, I really appreciate it and keep your comments coming😊‼️
I first saw this design by Lisa Capen quilts. She started making different blocks during the beginning of the Covid lock downs. It was called Ribbon Weave block. It finishes at an 8” square. I have made 2 quilts with this design. Hope this helps.
I love a scrappy binding but not with those small strips, I'd go crazy even sewing them together, well more crazy than I already am! :) Thanks for watching my videos !!
Thank you so much 😊 on my videos about 5 months ago I did a video on how to make a design wall quilt. Go check out that video, I give details on how to make it and the supplies needed. Thank you for asking and watching my channel. 😊❣️
I have watched a few of your videos but today I'm just noticing your design wall. Is it a mattress pad? I think what you did with the woven block is ideal.
I explain how to make the desing wall quilt in this video: ruclips.net/video/jcujLmyW6Ak/видео.html I don't want a desing wall up all the time because I have such a small sewing room, so this was my answer. Thank you for watching my videos Melly, I apreciate it.
I see the construction of this block with a center square and then with blue strip on one side gray on the other.. then pink on top and green on bottom. Once sewn together cut the block in half in both directions ( yes, a disappearing block!)and turn these to recreate the block as shown😳😯☺️ You see it being made that way?
I think I see what you’re talking about. I’ll have to try it out. I love disappearing blocks. I like to watch The Questioning Quilter, she only does disappearing blocks. Thanks Debra for watching my channel 😊‼️
Yes, fewer colors will always make it simpler, however you runs the risk of makign it too boring! That's why it's impprtant to audition fabrics and get someone elses opinion. Thanks for watching my channel!
Instead of unpicking those blocks why not just use them on the back as part of an Afterquilt. I have a philosophy of never unpicking unless absolutely necessary. My quilt backs are wild and unplanned and once the quilt is bound, the back is just as interesting as the front. Great video. Cheers!
?We are making that block on Marie's crafty Creations. I took pictures on my phone so when I go to make it I can see how she did it. I haven't tried t make it yet.
I did but probably not enough, I was pretty ready for this quilt to be done if you know what I mean🤪😂. Thank you for commenting and watching my channel🥰‼️

I love my electric seam ripper
They're pretty awesome!!! Thank you for watching my quilting channel!!
Love it
Thanks😊 and thanks for watching my channel ‼️
I loved how this quilt turned out. I had to laugh because I just finished a Halloween quilt top using scraps and fabric from my stash and a design I created in my head, and I had the same dilemma with shifting blocks around, and adding sashing, etc. In the end it turned out cute and I didn't spend any money... yet🤗
Yay for saving money 💰🤑💰 now you can spend it on more quilting projects✔️🤣😂 You’re right, Sashing in this case was the game changer. Thank you for watching my videos, I really appreciate it😍❣️
Looks good. I liked the yellow. 😢
Thank you Sharon😍 Thanks for watching 😊🐥
Great job!
Thanks and thanks for the visit :) !!
I love the second and las versions
.❤️
Awesome, thank you‼️ And thank you for watching😊
This is were you need a design board like Lori Holt makes. Then you could lay out several block out at a time and take them to the machine.
I do have a stack of them that I use. I really only use them for more complex blocks. They are the best tool❤️.
Thanks for watching my channel, I really appreciate it and keep your comments coming😊‼️
red, white, blue, yellow! (I've seen that done effectively.)
You’ve got me thinking about colors now, and I think yellow is a great suggestion! Thank you for watching my channel and commenting on my videos😍❣️
@@sisterchicksquilting The addition of yellow is like including gold star families and/or tie a yellow ribbon
I first saw this design by Lisa Capen quilts. She started making different blocks during the beginning of the Covid lock downs. It was called Ribbon Weave block. It finishes at an 8” square. I have made 2 quilts with this design. Hope this helps.
It does help Diane and thank you so much!!!
Love it! Maybe the yellow can be the scrappy binding?
I love a scrappy binding but not with those small strips, I'd go crazy even sewing them together, well more crazy than I already am! :) Thanks for watching my videos !!
I'd use yellow sparingly at the best of times but including yellow in scrappy does make other colours pop
Love the pattern! Love the fabric choice! Love the layout! But I need to know what you are using for a design wall!
I explain how to make the desing wall quilt in this video: ruclips.net/video/jcujLmyW6Ak/видео.html
I don't want a desing wall up all the time because I have such a small sewing room, so this was my answer. Thank you for watching my videos Melly, I apreciate it.
I see the construction of this block with a center square and then with blue strip on one side gray on the other.. then pink on top and green on bottom. Once sewn together cut the block in half in both directions ( yes, a disappearing block!)and turn these to recreate the block as shown😳😯☺️
You see it being made that way?
I think I see what you’re talking about. I’ll have to try it out. I love disappearing blocks. I like to watch The Questioning Quilter, she only does disappearing blocks.
Thanks Debra for watching my channel 😊‼️
Look at The Minerva Quilt by Tiny Orchard Quilts, it simplifies the process.
Thanks Janine, I’ll check it out, Do
Please check out the top green and pink row. The second block from the top right side is upside down.
Thank's for the heads up Judith, howevr, that quilt is finished and bound but...I think I caught that :)
Thanks for watching!
I love it think it would make a beautiful baby quilt. I have 3 great grand babies looking for some design.. I hope you will let me use yours.
Absoutley, go and take care of those great grands!!! Thank yo for watching my videos :)!
@@sisterchicksquilting thank you so much. Take care.
Msqc has this as a pattern called Dream weaver
Thank you 👍🏼 😊
That is SO much better with the sashing. I really wasn't loving it as interwoven
Thanks MAureen, that is waht I thought too. :) Thanks for watching!
could it be that fewer colors would make it so much simpler?
Yes, fewer colors will always make it simpler, however you runs the risk of makign it too boring! That's why it's impprtant to audition fabrics and get someone elses opinion. Thanks for watching my channel!
Instead of unpicking those blocks why not just use them on the back as part of an Afterquilt. I have a philosophy of never unpicking unless absolutely necessary. My quilt backs are wild and unplanned and once the quilt is bound, the back is just as interesting as the front. Great video. Cheers!
That’s a great idea 💡😁. I wish I’d thought of it before , I’m not I know, 😊 ‼️ Thanks for watching my channel Janis😊❣️
?We are making that block on Marie's crafty Creations. I took pictures on my phone so when I go to make it I can see how she did it. I haven't tried t make it yet.
Cool 😎, it’s super easy. Thanks Donna for watching my channel😊
You may be done by now. But I would alternate the direction of the colors. IMO there are too many blocks with the same colors on the same side.
I did but probably not enough, I was pretty ready for this quilt to be done if you know what I mean🤪😂. Thank you for commenting and watching my channel🥰‼️
What size is your block?
It’s 8 1/2” square and finished at 8” square.
Thanks for watching my channel😊‼️
