    I use Vimeo for my Event videography business. Most of my videos are 1-2 hours long. I noticed that Vimeo has changed their pricing plans completely from a storage based model to a "number of videos" model. Am I misreading that? If that's the case, if you produce a lot of short videos, then it looks like it forces you to buy the highest tier of pricing to get around the limitation.

    • @CaptureVM
      @CaptureVM  Год назад +1

      Hmm, not seeing that. I'm still on a storage model at around $20 per month. If they did that change, it would be very upsetting.

    Thanks for this review. Very helpful, because now I know for sure that Vimeo is better for my purposes. I work for a Tier-1 project delivery company which needs to stream highly confidential, bespoke videos to a select, handful of stakeholders in connection with bids. I don't need SEO/searchability, discoverability, social following or vertical videos. What I do need, you highlighted-player customizability, video replacement while retaining links and the complete absence of ads. Perfect : )

    The most important thing to me is the removal of ads.
    I want to showcase features of my product on my business website via embedded RUclips Shorts in the home page. But I absolutely don't want my visitors (aka: prospects) to have to see an ad at any point. I really wish there was a way to pay RUclips for a business account so we could have full control of ads on vids. Such a bummer. Thanks for the video.
    PS: I've used Vimeo to do this and RUclips is just light years ahead with simplicity/UI/etc. Not a fan of Vimeo. And I don't really want to host the videos from my server myself, but maybe I'm overthinking it and this is the way to go.

    Vimeo did a Usage suspension, denial of service to us on our learn dash courses, this after advertising to us Vimeo Live, which we tried once & spiked us through an allowed limit. We need their privacy premium content 'embed' capability on our custom Word/buddy press site, to protect the content, where can we replace this somewhere else?
    Following the Ransoming & 5x charge spike by Vimeo & slow response to getting us back up?

    My most important thing right now is finding a place to sell long-form classes streaming with Video on Demand. I see that Vimeo, in addition to the monthly fee, still takes 90% off the top of each sale. (Although they are really good at hiding that little nugget of information.) Given that, are they still the best for VOD or do you have other suggestions to look at? As I say, I can't do Udemy or something like that because my classes are 1-1.5 hours long and upwards to 10 gigs. A lot of places have limits. Thanks.

      I don't have a ton of experience with online courses but I would check out Teachable and Mighty Networks. If you are starting small you could always link to private vimeo upon checkout via another platform.

      Vimeo has an option to put a paywall in front of videos so I'd look into that if you think there is a demand for your content! Thanks for watching.

    Many thanks for your post, very interesting. I note that you have not mentioned Vimeo Showcases, is there a reason for that ? Showcases and Privacy settings (password protected) are still the 2 reasons why I pay the Vimeo subscription. I have tried to simulate the Vimeo Showcases features with the RUclips playlists but it does not give the same. Is there some equivalent RUclips feature that I am missing ?

    • @CaptureVM
      @CaptureVM  2 года назад +1

      Hey thanks for watching! I've used Vimeo showcases a little bit and would agree they are nice. You can get by using RUclips playlists but the features are all not there.
      If your business is very video heavy then stick with Vimeo for this feature. For most though the playlist function on RUclips works good enough, with any customization to layout being done on the companies actual website.

    I think that last part with LISTING why Vimeo
    is better (for certain businesses) should be
    at the front of video (or did I miss it?)>
    Bec. I am a content creator and yes, Vimeo
    would be better. But yes, your point of
    have a RUclips channel is spot on.

    My biggest concern is that I am making training videos on proprietary systems. I need to be able to share those video with specific people easily around the country, yet keep them from being publicly available. What is your suggestion?

    • @CaptureVM
      @CaptureVM  2 года назад +1

      If you need tighter control over privacy then I would 100% suggest Vimeo for this. RUclips does give you some options...but it can be cumbersome and you can't set a password on the video for example. With Vimeo you can setup a custom URL for the video, setup a password, or share private folders/playlists. Vimeo even tells you when people open a link too so that can be useful for tracking that. Hope that helps!

    • @CaptureVM

      Not super familiar with theirs, but I do think theirs is more relaxed. Although for most businesses, you’ll have no problem with any platform you choose.

      In my experience they're worse than Google/YT. Account disabled for a bondage video - a slideshow of erotica photos from half a century ago, and they squawk "We do not allow content meant to :insult, shame, harass, demean, hurt or otherwise target an individual or group regardless of their private or public status." You might as well accuse the film industry of making films that do the same.
      If you want a platform whose employees don't behave like incontinent children, Odysee. I had a vindictive copyright holder stalking me from YT to Odysee, and whereas my YT account was disabled after multiple claims were made in one takedown request Odysee allowed me several days to sort out those claims on my synced Odysee-RUclips channel.
