this video is 100% the coolect thing i have seen made with that trailer, i have the same boat and now know what i will be doing. Great video and fantastic work!
Well don project and well done video. I decided to use HF trailer for a boat and looked at all the videos on you tube. By far this is the best. Thanks for sharing.
I'm looking to do this same type mod but with crossbars that are already installed with 2 Hobie kayaks. I just want to extend the tongue length. Have you ever looked at using a Malone 2" x 3" x 90" replacement tongue with their retractable tongue kit ?
Thanks! I sold the trailer with the boat a while ago. If I were you, I'll install the pipe on the trailer, load the boat and then cut the front part out. Make sure it;s long enough to turn safely. Then install the hitch coupler.
Nice work on the trailer! What kind of spacers did you use to fit the tube? Also, you mentioned you had to cut something at the tongue (top of the A shape) to make the tube fit. Can you explain how you did that?
What a crummy human being to be trying to shame someone over this. Just over a creative youtube video this os disgusting! This just goes to show how mutch of an entitled prick you really are.

Those trailers have been around for ~20 years. Many use them for building tear drop trailers and traveling around the country. They are also sold and very popular in Europe. Do some research prior to publicly displaying your ignorance.
@@ridemfast7625 Yes Sir. Those little wheel bearings are begging to fail. I've always had a rule that the trailer tire should be as big or bigger than what it is hailing. Like my Polaris RZR or similar. It's nice having extra "bed" for boards or whatever-ya-find. A tandem axle rides like butter and you forget it's back there. FWIW in Illinois basic trailer plates jumped to $135/year from $20 -$30 like it has been seemingly forever. And the money will be abused by abusive corrupt leaders and union jobs, padded pensions.

I wanted to come back and say thank you, I did something similar to you and its worked like a dream the last few weeks
I'm glad my video inspired you

Very nice improvements. Its obvious you thought it out before building it. Im doing the same also with the square tubing.
Thanks and good luck.
That looks great color matched to the boat.
What size steel bar did you use?
Great. :)
on ours, I have installed rolls like the one you have at the winch. However, it's also a bigger boat (5 meters) and it weighs 315 Kg.
Thanks!
Nice job on the tongue. I'm doing the same thing to the HF trailer I just bought. Nice work!
Thank you so much for this this will be so much help to me thank you

Great video man!
Thank you.
Awesome upgrade,great video.
Great idea and good job putting it together! I’ll be doing one but welding instead.
I believe in Washington state it has to be bolted to be legal at least in Snohomish County
@@dennisburrill3260 I’m in Nevada either way I wonder why that would be the case. Weld is stronger than bolts
If used without bunks, you think the gutters could bend?
Great job I’m about to start mine this weekend
What thickness/guage steel tube did you use?
It is 4x2 . Gauge 12, Inch 0.104" Metric 2.6mm
@BoatMotors thank you
Great video! Love how you did it.
Thanks!
Nice trailer! Do you mind telling me the length of that square tubing? I have that trailer and am thinking about doing this to haul a 14' flat bottom.
Thanks! I sold the trailer with the boat a while ago. If I were you, I'll install the pipe on the trailer, load the boat and then cut the front part out. Make sure it;s long enough to turn safely. Then install the hitch coupler.
What size tubing did you use?
4“ x 2” with wall thickness around 3mm if I'm not mistaken

The spacer is about 2mm each side. You have to watch the video one more time to see what did I cut. It is hard to explain.
Wow. This is great work!
Thanks!
Nice build
Thanks!

Nice job but the music is annoying!
hard pass.
OMG seriously? What a crummy trailer. Any respectable would jump off that thing. Imagine the crummy tow vehicle for that crummy trailer.

@@itsruf1 Those 25mm bearings have a load rating of 7000+ lbs each. Grease and service like all other trailers and no issues.

@@BoatMotors ok thanks.
