  • After adding a few pieces of galvanized angle and some Trex boards, I turned this 4x8 folding trailer into a boat trailer.

    Excellent video! I've been looking for it for many weeks. Got an inflatable boat that needs this type of trailer and banks. Super helpful info! Million thanks!

    I have owned a Harbor Freight trailer for about 8 years now. They are great little trailers. The only issue I had was it turning pink after a few years. I just got a can of Rust-Oleum paint and recoated it.

      Which one did you get 1100lb or 1700?

    • @darrellwampler6473

      @@AJ-ds9xq 1100lbs. I've pulled that thing at 65 mph for many many miles. No issues.

    We built one of these that can be converted to a flatbed, stake side, or boat trailer and it still folds. We tow a 12.5-foot inflatable on it.

    How stable is that thing on the road? Especially at 50 and above mph

    Can you tell what kind of brackets you used to attached the 2X4 to the trailer? I got the same trailer and want to do the same setup for my aluminium boat. Thanks!

    Any problem getting your trailer registered? You are in NC correct?

    Would you feel comfortable driving this type of trailer on the highway and for long distance?

    • @TheFurrminator
      @TheFurrminator  3 года назад +1

      Yes I would, I would probably upgrade the tires and make sure the bearings are greased. If you look on my videos you’ll see the 4x8 Harbor Freight Camping Trailer I built, similar trailer frame. We have pulled that as far as 200 miles to our destination, 400 miles round trip, multiple times, no issues. Thank you for watching

      Hey Chris, the boat is a Water Quest 10.2 camouflage boat. I think is was made in 1993.

      Powerline Rider yes, I did use a coupon, great deal

    • @PowerlineRider

      was it a specific coupon for the trailer or a universal store wide coupon?

    • @oldtimer4567

      Powerline Rider Really!? You're gonna wait til it's $20 cheaper? During the time you're waiting for the price to drop $20, if it ever does, you will have blown that $20 elsewhere anyway.

    Hello and good day!! I just bought a 12.5 ft long Newport Vessel, and I was looking to buy a trailer for my boat,, my question is!! 4x8 trailer is big enough to carry my inflatable boat to the water??? if it is would you let me know please!! Thank you so much.

    • @TheFurrminator
      @TheFurrminator  2 года назад

      That’s a good question, the 4x8 is just the bed or floor part of the trailer. My boat is just over 10’ and the v sets forward of the bed and the back of the boat goes past the rear of the trailer. If I had a 12’ boat that was inflatable, I would definitely try it. My thoughts are extend the bed of the trailer by adding a few 10’ or 12’ decking boards to support the back of the boat. Obviously this is my opinion, no experience with this. Also, you would have to account for tail swing while making turns. As far as quality of a trailer for what I use it for, it does great for me. I hope this helps

    Have you had any problems putting the stock tires and hubs in the water? I have tried to get bearing buddies for mine but cannot seem to find the right size, any suggestions?

    • @TheFurrminator
      @TheFurrminator  5 лет назад

      I haven’t had any issues that I’m aware of yet. I use a waterproof marine grease, not sure if that has helped but everything seems fine so far.

    What would you recommend I do for a flat bottom Jon boat, specifically the Pelican Intruder 12? I need a trailer but can’t afford a standard ‘boat’ trailer. I like your mods but I don’t think I need all of them since it’s flat-bottomed. Thanks!

    What size boat did you say your boat was? I plan to get this trailer and use it for a 12 footer alum valco boat - what do you think?

    • @BlackKnight-ll8qh
      @BlackKnight-ll8qh 6 лет назад

      Fanatic Veedio I’ve got a 14’ I need to modify my trailer for. You can make it work. Just bolt some more steel to the end. But you may have to move the axle Further back.

    • @Authenticallyher1

      It’s a takacat flat bottom, so no need for a center roller. Also not the resting v kn the front

      Carson Orm good question, I didn't check the angle, I put my boat on it and placed the bunks at the best angle to fit my boat
