It's about collecting more data.

I thought the same. To collect as much data as possible to complete the final step. To give it for free to use trying to sell… does not make sense. Tesla noticed huge improvement and made a conclusion: fsd is ready for robotaxi

The whole tesla fleet is continually sending data back to "tesla 1" for nn training, not just those cars with fsd. The reason why tesla is offering a free trial is solely to demonstrate how good it is.

Also the natural resistance of human kind to change.
Another factor will be the press and its influence, one small accident will be blown out of proportions instead of seeing it as learning point.
Another problem is that Elon M. doesn't want a Lidar system (or similar systems) on Tesla cars. This probably will be a government requirement.

The version 12.3.3 is quite a bit better but I had to intervene 3 times,it did handle a particularly tough round about that’s integrated into one of those new X interchanges coming off I-70 heading east . It did very good no problems.
Still brakes to hard and cuts the corner and gives me some worry of wheel rash. Also got confused as to what route to take.

I used to 2x/5x but it is not worth the stress. Why would you gamble 2 years salary on margin? You are not an investor but just a gambler, as was I back then. You want to get rich so fast that you forget that all this short term stress is reducing your actual lifespan. I don't buy leverage anymore, Tesla will be successfull. So please take my advice and just buy regular stocks. You will have to be more patient and you can live your live during Tesla's Rise. My life has changed since I just buy when available and hold, not looking at maketswings daily. It will get in your head and won't go away. Not trying to be a d1ck here, but really trying to get through to you. (Sitting on 80k euros worth of stock atm)

A unveiling isn't a launch. It could still be years until a actual launch of said product. However I do believe that by 2026 there is going to be potential for some restricted area robotaxis, kind of like waymo.
They won't ever be able to just fully launch this particular product. It will be a creeping launch from area to area, expansion to expansion.
Either way, a unveiling has nothing to do with a launch, it's a demonstration.

It would make sense to me that all Teslas can operate as a robot taxi - so all Tesla owners can earn from this and so all Teslas become a better value proposition as the car can pay for it self?

What are the odds the new Model 2 will be steer by wire. Makes sense from a manufacturing point of view as the robotaxi models will follow the same process except cheaper without a steering wheel etc?

I put 60,000 miles on a model 3 and now have 120,000 on my Y all with FSD which I only started using when they stopped me from texting and driving on auto pilot as FSD became more useful. FSD will become extremely valuable when we can text (work) and drive. Robotaxi is of course another world. My question is how are they going to keep the cameras clean? Only 3 are behind the windshield wipers on the windshield. Is that enough? It's one thing when I can take over as a driver in bad weather but a whole other thing when there is nobody to take over because lens are wet, dirty, have paint on them (vandals) etc. I am an investor and this is my main concern along with how are they going to charge automatically? Robot arm charger?

Maybe the Chinese 8/8 reference refers to some sort of partnership with a Chinese EV company? Everyone seems so focused on partnership with Ford etc but what if its with BYD? BYD is known to behind on FSD etc. so it would bring a lot of benefits to them. It would also give Tesla access to a lot of data in China so its a win-win situation. I know FSD is not available in China yet but it would anyway take some time for this partnership to materialize and by then, it would likely be available. Also it seems like BYD, and other Chinese companies, are more willing to work with Tesla especially when compared to Western legacy auto companies who seem to think they are 'too good' to work with Elon and Tesla.

In the beginning, during the replacement phase of Uber Drivers with autonomous vehicles, you can still earn money, because you are still cheaper than the Uner drivers and there are not enough robo taxis on the roads to service all demand

Steering wheel? Definitely a bolt on accessory for new Tesla models. 2 facts: 1. an FSD-capable car (i.e. all Teslas) will need servo-motor driven steering, and 2. Cybertruck is approved with steer-by-wire with no direct connection between the steering rack and the steering wheel.
With drive by wire I heard it can be snap in and that the seat will swivel to face front or back when removed . The steering wheel will only used at the factory and sales and maintenance lots.
James Douma is now taking about the difficulties of making FSD superhuman, this implies he is now confident of human equivalent performance.
