I was in the 8th grade when this song came out. I went to a Catholic School where boy-girl parties were prohibited. Being a good Catholic boy, I revolted and I had some great parties listening to The Turtles.
Those were the Days😊Just learned last night that Turtles Drummer John Barbata has passed. He died at his home in Ada, Oklahoma. John went on to become the Drummer for Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship. John was a California boy who left his high school band in San Luis Obispo to drum for The Turtles. He was a "walk-on" drummer for The Turtles when they recorded their biggest hit "Happy Together" in 1967. John's drumming was so "spot on" they were able to record "Happy Together" in one take. John Barbata was 79. RIP John🙏 - Gary Garrison, Retired News Anchor, KABC Radio, Los Angeles
I loved WCFL AM!! Remember Larry Lujack and his snowball for the car antenna that everybody stole, Larry even sang a song about "somebody stole my snowball"
"A little ray of sunshine -- a little bit of soul -- add just a touch of magic -- you've got the greatest thing since Rock N Roll!" --- That says it all for me. 1966 - my favorite year for sound. Next up: a tune which was originally written and performed by Warren Zevon -- "Outside Chance" (The Turtles' version).
I first heard this song two years ago during the "Happy Together Tour" featuring the Turtles, Cowsills, Gary Puckett, Association and a bunch of other bands. This became my all time favorite song after the one hearing.
Dan Murphy, I live in NE Ohio. At night, sometimes, we could hear both stations. My Dad liked to listen for the weather report. I liked the music. He said Chicago's weather was about a day ahead of what we were going to get. Chicago, deep dish pizza, YESSSS! Stay safe and GOD bless all.
I was in the 7Th grade when this song came out. My parents had sent me to a Catholic School to calm me down. I came out worse and I had a blast in high school.
What a great video. I was in the 7th grade when this song was released. I remember chasing around my grammar school love interest when this song played on the radio. What a great time to be young.
Ok..Who doesn't feel pure joy when listening to this tune?
Happy Birthday Mark Volman, April 19, 1947. Thank you for everything. Great music.
Such great memories of being a young teenager in the mid sixties. Fantastic song. It’s like a time machine for me.
Brings back awesome memories for me ... Oh yes! They were the days.
A very underrated group
An all around happy song. Just try sitting still to this little ditty. Thank the Lord for the 60's. Amongst other things.

Great song. The sounds of a generation. Just look how naturally beautiful girls were back then; not all tatted and made up.

Summer of '66, my summer in L.A. -------this should have been much, much, bigger! Howard Kaylan nailed this lead. -------------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o
We agree. The record label, White-While however was an independent concern.
