This was an excellent video & I learned a lot more about this really fabulous group that were so terribly wronged by their early contractual agreements. Thanks much for giving them the proper credits unlike some other videos I've recently seen about them.
Absolutely! Saw Flo & Eddie at the Golden Bear in Huntington Beach back in the late 70's. Great show! Their harmonies were spot on, especially in "Elinore" and "You Baby!"
Volman and Kaylan worked with Frank Zappa on 3 albums as members of the Mothers of Invention, ( Chunga's Revenge, Live at the Fillmore and Just another band from LA, as well as the movie "200 Motels"), and yet there's absolutely no mention of that. This is really sloppy. If that fact escaped you, you really need to up your game.
I agree with you. When I first heard and saw 200 Motels I was a bit surprised to see them with Zappa. But they were great together. The live from the Fillmore concert is great too. Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention - Fillmore East New York, NY 11/14/70 (E)
Loved this memory lane vid. In Junior high (middle school now) I saved my baby sitting money to buy their album with Elenore on it, I Iet one kid I sat with borrow it and his dad used it for a Frisbee out their window. I guess the dad hated it! I still love hearing their songs!
@@whathappenedtothem_ If you don't use any audio from them they can't make you cut it out. You usually just talk over images anyway, so why did they have you remove it?
I went to high school with these guys (Westchester Ca. High 1964) but back then they were called “The Crossfires” they were supposed to play for the senior prom, but they never showed, instead they were playing down in Redondo Beach at a surf club for REAL money! LOL🤣🎶
Hmmm you know without ZAPPA the Howard and Kaylan probably would have disappear & No mention of their 3 comedy Music albums which were made after the Zappa influences. .... What I'm saying is that most of this VIDEO INFO would never have happened without the few years between the Turtles break up and the lives of those after remaining in the business.
The Turtles wound down their career in 1970 with More Golden Hits, a second compilation album, and Wooden Head, a B-sides and rarities album. With the demise of the Turtles, White Whale Records lost its biggest moneymaker, had few commercially viable bands, and soon ceased operations.
What happened to the turtles? After a long arduous and perilous trek across the expanse of sand between their birth place and the safety of the open sea, they eventually reached relative safety and freedom.
How about the Union Gap history? I was made aware that Kerry Chapter passed away anumber of months ago. Any information on the remaining group members would be appreciated.
I like what you are doing here a lot. Please consider a biography on ‘ The Knickerbockers and also Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons both from New Jersey.
This is about The Turtles, not the Mothers of Invention, but you could have mentioned the Flo & Eddie thing. I'd love to see what happened to Paul Revere & The Raiders. What say ye?
1:28 Dude! Do you really not know how to pronounce Warren Zevon's last name? Really? Shouldn't you do a little bit of research before you post things that are available to the entire world? Maybe read through your scripts out loud a few times?? Bush League. The Turtles are great, however.
If you're under 30 and love the music, it's very easy to know the name without knowing the pronunciation. I'm just glad there are younger people who are going to keep this music playing for years to come! Rock and Roll is on life support right now! I bet he knows now. Cut him some slack!
@@TonysMusic1974 I noticed he did slow down on this video and his enunciation was better. If he makes his critics his coaches, I see this channel getting better on a weekly basis.
Your narration is difficult to listen to. Please learn to parse your words, no need to speak a sentence as if all words are connected together, space them out. Essentially your speech is pressured, slow down and pace yourself. It would also help if you read your script out loud before you commence recording. This way the words and pronunciation won’t come as a surprise to you when you come across them and try to sound them out. Lastly, please learn the limitations of your microphone, the popping and sibilants is overwhelming and completely unnecessary. Back off 6 inches or so from your mic. I was interested in what you have to say but could only catch half of commentary due to the above issues.
Many artists have reported that John Lennon was not a pleasant man to work with or even be around. Purely by chance, my older sister rented a house in Reseda in the early 70s that was next door to Robby Krieger and his new band (Butts Band). Turns out his road manager, whom I spoke with on several occasions, had worked for the Beatles, and knew each of them personally. He told me that all of them, except Ringo, were quite arrogant and generally not very nice to people.
One of my all time favorite 1960s bands! Love them and their music! I never get tired of listening to them!

I saw them 8 times.. Kaylan and Volman, a Magical combo are true Entertainers...
One of the best bands in history!! Turtles!!!

I can’t believe they haven’t been inducted into the rock & roll hall of fame.
They were really a good band.
You failed to mention there short stint with Frank Zappas mothers of invention in the early 70"s.
They may have been together for only a few years but it was an epic few years.
How can you do a piece on Flo and Eddie without mentioning The Mothers of Invention???
That's EXACTLY what I was going to ask!
Yeah what about Zappa man? This dude needs to fix his history lesson its flawed.

Agreed, I thought it was not good to just ignore Volman & Kaylan's time with Zappa....

Your dad might have been my brother - he was also the kid who took the legs off of spiders...
Flo and Eddie …moving targets CLASSIC !!
RIP Jim. And I had no idea that Howard was ill!
What?!?! Nothing about recording with Frank Zappa??? Flo & Eddie!? Worthless!
RUclips made me cut out that part due to copyright issues.

I used a video of Frank Zappa.
@@whathappenedtothem_ wow really? No audio? That's the first time I've heard that
Interesting.
why...they were huge before zappa....]
One of the very best groups of the 60's. Howard Kaylan has a great voice. Sorry to hear he's been ill. Any word on how he is doing today?

No mention of Moving targets or frank zappa contribution
Got save the turtles earlier this year really good
It's not hard to find pronunciations before committing to tape, so to speak.
What about Frank Zappa and Flo & Eddie?
Didn't Flo and Eddie sing backup on one or two Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention albums?
Thanks for using my photo of Jim Tucker that I took in June 2013. He was a great talent and good guy.
They found FRANK!
exactly
How can you call this what happened to the turtles and not include flo and Eddie's time with Frank Zappa...kinda major

Loved them as a kid.
LTD. is the abbreviation for the word “Limited”.
Kinda skipped over The Mothers & Zappa there.
Come on! Warren ZEE-von. Johnny Bar-BAY-ta.
What about Flo and Eddies time in the Mother's of Invention?
Didn't know that.
Enjoyed your video about the Turtles!
Saw them open for jimi hendrix, swing audatorium in san Bernardino calif. In 69 if my memory is correct
I saw Hendrix. I was 13 years old and Johnny Winter opened for him in Fort Worth Texas
You forgot when they recorded with Frank Zappa, Billy the Mountain.
You did not mention the movie My dinner with Jimi which was based on a book by Howard Kaylen about a drunken night he had with Jimi Hendrix.
Zappa?

I love Turtle Soup I think they would have done special things in the 70s
Going to see The Happy Together Show in June, 2022, in Hiawassee, Ga.
At the start, that's actually a picture of a completely different band called Mike Sheridan & the Night riders from Birmingham, England
Thank you !!!

Snappy tunes but all in all, a bubblegum band with talent.
I read marc bolan never paid the 2.

What about the Spanish group Los Bravos
Imagine movie 8:40
I have always been a fan of Turtles music, but even as a kid I have always wondered one thing. WTF is Mark Volman? Why is he a member of the band?
Who is narrating this piece? Monotonous dialogue, mis pronouncing words. Awkward pauses while trying to read script. Was this a High School project?
