    Thanks, Jessa! It's very inspiring. Subscribed! :) A couple of questions: 1) what's the point to pay for etsy ads if they break almost even and your shop is doing anyway very good? 2) is it your full-time job or side job ? 3) Did you learn online design before creating them? 4) Which website do you use: erank or marmalade or smt else to make choise of products? 5) how long it takes you appr-ly for creating 1 design? Thanks in advance :)

    • @ThatJessaB
      @ThatJessaB  2 года назад +5

      With Etsy ads the benefit is more in the long game, as once you have a customer, they may possibly buy from you again. I just recommend being really really careful with them.
      Its my full time job.
      Yes I'm a designer but you absolutely don't need to be a designer to create beautiful design - its just about research and practice.
      I prefer erank
      And in terms how long it takes to create a design it really varies based on the complexity. I recommend getting some researched but simple products in your store to build up your traffic :)

    Hi Jessa. Thanks for your video. In terms of an item such as a social media post template, I know assets such as logos or photos are customised after purchase but are there concerns with the overall look/feel being used by another business who has purchased the same template?

    • @ThatJessaB
      @ThatJessaB  2 года назад

      You can just pop in your terms & conditions that they are not to be resold and are for single commercial use. Canva templates don't have a lot of security around them unfortunately but its very rare Ive found people to steal templates. If you are concerned though Templett offers a lot more security around this so might be worth looking at!

    Nice video, you are talented and have good taste, so that part is covered. I'd like to ask you some technical questions if you don't mind (⌒▽⌒ゞ
    1) Do you use only one program or you need peripheral programs to accomplish your work? Which ones?
    2) Are you familiar with all these programs or you kinda struggled to get the hang of them?
    3) How long it takes you to complete only one of these bundles, an estimate? (I want to have an idea of how much work does it take for someone already used to it, so I can have an idea for beginners :))
    Thank you either you answer or not, I'm just really curious. Maybe you should make a video going through the technicalities.

    Did you have a large social media following when you started? Also, how many listings would you say you had in the first couple months of starting? My shop has been open for years but I recently revamped it after letting it go stale for a long time (it wasn't a digital shop before) and I barely get any visits and zero sales now. It's only been about 3 weeks and I now have 11 listings. I just figured I'd at least get more visits. But maybe due to being within that first month it's harder. I was thinking about ads, but heard they're not worth it. So i'll hold off on that one. I started a sale today as well so we shall see lol. I dont have a social media following so I'm beginning to feel like that is what I'm missing most. But we'll see. Thanks in advance for any help :) Great vid!

      Hey lovely! No I had 0 social media following when I started - Etsy is an amazing platform because it brings the traffic for you - you don't need to go out and find it. The only social media I used throughout the year to drive traffic was Pinterest but Etsy definitely brought most of the traffic.
      With your store - keep tracking trends and look for products which are selling, market research is everything :) I would add more products before doing ads - ads aren't the best on Etsy and hard to run at a profit I've found - I only have them turned on in a couple of stores.
      Usually the key to success is more products with varying tags - as Etsy is search based you need as many tags out there as possible bringing you traffic :) Wishing you all the best with your lovely store though!

    Maybe I missunderstood something, and I am quite cinical when it comes to mmo stuff. There are a lot of devious people out there faking numbers or skewing the story to make it sound better than what it is to sell courses, merch, affiliate items, etc. You said at 6:30, in the video, you opened this store in Nov 2020 and started making products in Dec 2020. Then at 8:50, in the video, you try and reinforce the idea that you hadn't opened yet by showing no revenue in Oct 2020.
    Where I had a bit of a red flag though, was at 5:58, in the video, you can see your stores lifetime data and that goes all the way back to 2016 which is odd especially since you are claiming you didn't even open the store until Nov 2020, no? When, at 5:58, the lifetime data popped up acted like you were startled that it showed what it did and you tried to play it off by saying it doesn't show enough data and went back to just 2020 data.
    Another red flag to me was your revenue, it shows $46,090 lifetime, at 5:58 in the video, compaired to $45,731 for 2020 at 6:30 in the video. Which isn't a big difference, but it's still a differenece. Again, that just shows that you were open prior to what you said and were making a few sales here and there.
    Where the problem lies for me is this video seems like you are implying that you opened brand new store and made 45k in year as basically passive income. When in reality this store seems to have been open since 2016 and wasn't doing anything until 2020 and now it's magically working. 45k in 1 year with a brand new store sounds a whole lot easier to do and better to do than a store that is 5 years old that doesn't/didn't get 99% of its sales until that 5th year. The way you framed this video makes selling on etsy seem easier that what it actually is which gets people over hyped and easier to sell them your stuff in the description from an emotionally charged stand point, no? That's disengenious and missleading in my opinion, but again maybe I missunderstood something.

      Hey! Thank you so much for clarifying - I love that you questioned this.
      1. Opened Brand Sugar in November & registered the business name in 2020 as a totally new business - the actual physical etsy store was an old printing store I opened back in 2016 for one of my invitation stores, and then closed. I reopened and just rebranding it. The income shown and products shown in the video are all made from November forward.
      2. With the lifetime data showing $46,090, this is because when I custom set the range it was a full year from the launch of Brand Sugar but at the time of making the video there was like an additional week at the end of December 2021 so that additional $300 income would have been from there.
      3. Thanks for flagging these things though - I’ve popped a note at the top of the description to clarify that it was a new business / brand (Brand Sugar) and that the actual Etsy store was physically older than that. But confirming for you the brand (Brand Sugar), all products & selling Canva templates themselves were all created in the year so the video is relevant and accurate.
      Thanks for your breakdown though, I hope that going forward it will help me to be more articulate and clear in what I’m showing as I’m definitely about honesty. I wouldn’t say the video makes creating Canva templates look easy and I talk a lot about building things up over time in my other videos - there were a lot of man hours thrown into the store and it has over 500 products which are high quality but the beauty of the business model is that you make it once and it continues to sell again and again. Wishing you every success with your store!

      It definately is expensive which is why I say you need to watch it really closely. They do have their benefits though as listings that sell get a higher rank in Etsy search and you get more organic sales - so really as long as they are breaking even I think they are ok.
