It might take a few moments to load, then you're good to go!
Nate come roast me I need it 😂
I love this video because I was on the fence about collaborating until the last two minutes. Asking another creator to record a two minute video talking about a specific topic is a brilliant and effective idea. It allows me to have confidence approaching the bigger film review channels, as well. Thanks, Nate!
Good luck! Are you having luck getting positive reception?
Nate, I really have to thank you. After a couple years of slowly growing and doing the same thing I finally put all my effort into releasing a video that incorporates everything you’ve been saying and it’s the best performing video by far for clicks & subs. It has 3k views and 150 new subs in 3 days which is small I know but huge for me! It’s a step change in the way I make and present my videos and it’s because of your help. I sincerely hope you get to read this because I’m very grateful to you. 😀👍
Congrats and well done. 👍
WOOHOO 🎉 nice work! So glad to hear it!
@@ThatNateBlackif it’s useful feedback what you’ve really taught me over the past many many videos is Self Awareness. Being able to look at my content and dispassionately understand where I’m weak.
Congratulations, that's so exciting!!!
Congratulations, great job!
I’ve also found CRAZY success collabing with other, non-RUclipsrs in my niche. People who run the big Facebook groups, discords, subreddits, etc. Add them to your phase one section, too!!
Thanks for the vid Nate! RUclips is quite a solitary journey in the beginning so sharing your channel with like-minded people in your niche is a great idea! Collabs have been invaluable for my channel, first it offers greater perspective for myself and i've learned a lot through the other youtubers. Second, going on other people's livestreams opens your audience reach and increases your credibility. Finally, at times when I get creator's block it allows me to repurpose some of the collabed content as new and useful vids.
Absolutely underrated topic.
This is a nice guide to HOW to collab, but I would love some coverage about WHY to collab with examples of specific positive outcomes it has had for channels.
i agree. this topic is perfect for a good series of videos.
@@mar_ink I third this. I think there is a phase shift here I don't quite understand. People used to want to collab with me, now they don't. :(
Meeting up with local creators has been a huge help as well!
Get yourself out to events and meetups - it takes time, and a little effort, but the returns are HUGE!
When you meet enough people in your area, there’s always someone to learn from or create with!
Sometimes we just get lunch or dinner! The time spent with other creators is extremely valuable - for them and yourself! 😎👍🏻
Local creator's tend to mess Me about, dont matter if they have 10 subs or 10k subs they make promises they dont keep. I was friends with a 50k sub RUclipsr and We said We would collab but it didn't happen.
How do you find creators in your area? I'm a bit niche, but would like to find others in a related niche (and to network in general). 🌟🤔🌟
@@MagicMitch Its easier for a small channel to just use content from a bigger channel without permission and tag them, make a video responce to something they said in there videos. Dont be rude and most of the time the RUclipsr approves the video.
@@HOLLASOUNDS There’s been lots of times where meetups or collabs haven’t worked out. It takes time to find quality people to work with. Keep at it! You’ll find good people!
@@MagicMitch Look for and attend events related to your niche. You’ll need to reach out and talk with people to get the ball rolling. Be friendly and genuinely interested in what people are doing. Remember this’ll take time, but stick with it - you’ll meet all sorts of cool people!
One thing everyone does wrong with collaboration is that they stay in their niche. You should do a related niche so you spread each other further. Eg for me as woodworker a metal worker would be great. Soccer channel to volleyball channel and do on. Win win got both creators.
This is great advice. Thanks!
This video is INCREDBILE as always Nate! Keep doing what you are doing!
I LOVE doing collabs! I've never seen such a clear blueprint for making them successful. Thanks!
I just did a poll on my community tab on this very topic and got 100% of my community voting for a yes to doing a collaboration.
Did the same thing, mine was divided between "Yes, I watch them" and "What is a collab?"
I've been wanting to to do a collab with someone for a long time but was never comfortable enough to try. This video really helps, thank you!
Thanks for the info Nate, you rock!! I just did my first collaboration last Saturday and it went super well. Your full guide to plan for RUclips in 2024 helped me big time and this video as well. Cheers brother 😄
Nate, I’ve tried this. I’m on here (RUclips) for nearly 4 years now as a creator. Multiple times I’ve tried to reach out and multiple times I was just flat out ignored. No response back. And the 1% that did reach back was to tell me no.
Some even said no then turn around and posted collabs with 4 other creators. Which felt like a slap to the face.
It got to the point where I said to my fine I’ll make it alone.
Because I got tired of reaching out and being ignored
I enjoy the different ways you incorporate the "Boop the like button" in videos. It does always prompt me to do it!
Throughout my life, I have met a lot of good teachers, but you genuinely have a gift for teaching! I’ve only been watching your content for a few weeks, but I admire how you’ve presented yourself in each video! It’s been great for me 👍🏼
Someone boop the like button
Howdy howdy! LOVED this video and the template took it to another level!
Thank you for this Nate. My channel really started taking off last week and this answers a question ive had in my mind. Easily the GOAT InfoTuber along w/ vidIQ. The End part really hit home. Since I started my 250lb Weight Loss Journey/Channel last November, Every $ extra I have has went into equipment, food and channel. No movies, outings or anything. Ive ben 100% All In and when i'm not working at my job, working out or editing I am watching YT vids on working out or editing 😅 Like every one of Nate's Vids^ But seriously, that made me realize I need to go watch Dune 2 and relax for once. Thank you again for all you do Nate Bro =D
I really appreciate how much better the volume is equalized on this video.
I have to really raise the volume for your older videos.
Ahhh! Been Working on my first collab for my channel for the last few months. I def jumped in expecting no one to say yes but everyone (except 1 person) i asked AGREED! So nervous for the video to finally be finished up soon 🥰
Nice work!!
Yay!!🎉
Thanks so much Nate. Still working on my first Collab. Very helpful !!
Love learning from you. Thanks for this one. We've reached out and aren't afraid to collaborate with bigger - smaller - similar creators. Collaboration can be in various forms. Sometimes just networking and picking the brain of others doing what you do is invaluable! Thanks again!
Booping Nice Video Nate! And really nice editing too!
Great roadmap for RUclips Collaborations. Thanks Nate!
Very helpful and generous to make the template available. Thanks much.
Nate - This is a great template. I have a comic book related channel that have been stuck recently. I do collaborate with some great channels. It works but I need to research more collaboraors with my very small niche. Thanks for the information. And you have been blooped! 👍
I guess collabs are important.
But also I have no idea which social media site I should be building up where:
1. People have an actual way to message me
2. People would actually want to message me.
That's pretty hard. Time is limited for people who have never made a cent from their work. So work toward growing on another platform it comes at the direct expense of fewer videos posted to YT. But YT has no messaging system and seems to actively prevent collaboration as some kind of spam fighting automation (assuming my last comment disappearing was automatic... or maybe I was hidden and I'll spend years talking to nobody again without ever having any idea the entirety of my social outreach is being instantly deleted by a robot). When you have no way to figure out that your comments aren't even being posted to a community you thought you were involved in, for *years*... That's what it's like to be lonely on social media, and also on RUclips.
It doesn't help that when I spent 6 months trying to push people to sub on twitter and posted all my videos there, the net result was exactly 2 Twitter followers (at least one of which is me... maybe both actually).
So it would be helpful to know on a much more basic level: How can a social media outsider build enough clout to be allowed actual contact with any other human being in 2024 without being instantly blocked/filtered?
I'm told you need to meet new people to make friends, but I guess people only want to meet you if you already have a lot of friends... I really struggle with that contradiction.
Thanks so much for posting these resources. This will be really helpful!
Been following your advice and seen my subscribers double and number increase on every video. Other factors were involved of course, but your advice has been very useful!!
Wow! I just reached out to two fellow youtubers I enjoy and asked them to do a collaboration video with them and they both said yes! I am so excited to see your video today! will help me
Thanks for the guide Nate. I haven't done any collaborations yet but it is something I hope to do in the future.
I never knew how much I’d look forward to the phrase “boop the like button.” Thank you for the consistently great content!
Great video Nate/Nick. Thanks for the tips
I’ve not long started my own channel, with just 8 long form videos so far. One of my regular videos is to interview other photographers (one done, with two more in the pipeline). While they don’t have RUclips channels, they do have decent followings on Instagram.
The idea of collaborating is the only way you can broaden your own style.
Another great video Nate. Cheers
I might have been a bit too ambitious with my last collab attempt. I reached out to 10 creators who all cover the same basic topic as I, but we each fill our own small niches in that space. I invited them for a 1-3 minute video segment which would all be stitched together in a montage type video where we would each be answering a different question related to the same subject matter. I got 2 responses, one that was very tentative, the other from another creator whom I'd already done a collab with in the past (by their request). the project then completely stalled out and I couldn't coordinate any exchange of ideas and after 3 months of radio silence I just scrapped the project. so word of warning, super-group collabs are far and above harder than single creator collabs.
I never get responses😢😂
@@Miner_20 me neither, sadly :( Same with offering to fulfill requests, so I stopped offering!
Thank you for this very informational video! We have begun reaching out, but not necessarily doing this homework first. This is excellent advice!
Thank you Nate for yet another important and eye-opening principle of growing a channel. We appreciate you brother! With friendship, Arsalan
This is super helpful information. Thank you!
Thank you for all these videos Nate. I think I've made every mistake you've highlighted so far. 😂 But you've got to start somewhere!
Nate, great video and very useful information! One suggestion for all your videos, including this one, is to demonstrate the effectiveness of your strategies/advice to showcase how you've applied these methods successfully. At the end of this video, you could bring on a collaborator as proof that you successfully implemented your own strategy. That would be really valuable to me/your audience and reinforce your credibility and the effectiveness of your advice. Keep up the great work Nate!
Collaborations have been my favourite part of my channel's journey. I've worked with so many people in direct collabs or just helping and talking about videos. I've worked with a couple channels with over 100K and even one with over 1 million subs. But I also done collabs with channels that had 100, 50, 15 subs, and I can say that they've always been fun. They didn't always gave me subscribers, but honestly, that didn't matter as much to me.
The reality: You reach out to 100 people to get a couple of responses. Then you do all the work. When it comes to their small part, nothing after a month, you follow up, another two weeks and nothing, follow up again, another two weeks and they send you something they're just stumbling through. And this is working with channels smaller or equal size. There is extremely low chance you'll get a response from someone massive like in the example.
This. Honestly, this whole thing is completely unrealistic in most niches if you're still a small channel.
You are so right about the importance of having personal connections, but I prefer to have mine face-to-face outside of online contacts.
I leapt into this by interviewing composers and it was so much fun!
I've been thinking about doing this. Thanks for the insights. I just need to figure out who, and you've given some great advice to figure that part out.
Thank you Nate! Really cool !
Thanks Nate. Something I haven't thought about.
This is incredibly helpful. Thank you!
Thank you. This is very valuable information.
Nate, your videos plus Vidiq helped me so much! I got 1000 subs in 2 months. I have a prayer channel so it's totally not a popular niche & I still got subscribers! 🙌 Thank you God!
This is hugely valuable video Nate! Legend - thanks so much! PS Best Boop Suggestion EVER! (really!) 👍😎
1 Thank you for this! I've been considering a collab. Trying to figure out a few things on that.
2 I love how you make yourself laugh at how you present the boop the like button.
We’ve toyed with the idea but need to do some serious thinking & digging on this one - thanks for the template.. and the push! Cheers!
Lol I need to know who's making these outro songs... absolute BOPS every time.
I'm excited about doing collaborations with others in my niche. ❤🥰
Thank you for this!!!
Wow, thank you. We have been debating reaching out to another channel like ours for the purpose of a collab but I keep getting stuck in my head that we are way too small and we need way more videos and subs before doing so.
Once again, well time video! I've been having collabs on my mind and wondering how to go about it, as I'm still a very small channel and was still in the "scouting" phase.
Just had to pause and come say, this is q great idea I'm going to adapt for finding podcast guests. I've asked a few times for introductions and it's been a bit unfruitful. But I think I just need to get more proactive, stalk a few people, and approach them about why my audience needs to hear from them.
very helpful video. thank you
I would love to do some collaborations and will make a list of potential co-lab-er-a-tors! Thank you for the outline of how to plan them Nate!!! 📝
I did a collaboration with a friend of mine. It's getting a steady growth and it has one of the best watch time and click through rate
This is just what I needed! Thanks so much for sharing this. I was wondering what your thoughts are on uploading an entire 30 minute video with another bigger channel that agreed to collaborate.
I have noticed that my views on future video go down every time I upload entire interviews. Could you maybe make another video that goes more in depth on how to execute on collaborations once the other person agreed to it?
Thanks Nick 😅, I'm new to the 1k club and feel it might be a good idea to research some collab opportunities, this template will come in handy!
Congrats!
❤❤❤thank you Nate
Hey Nate, this is really useful, tangible info. Would you say that there are criteria you should meet before reaching out to someone for a collab? I have made less than 10 videos and I'm on like 50 subs, so I feel way too noob to even try reach out to anyone. But I don't know if that's just fear/imposter syndrome or if it's a genuine reason to wait a while before trying the collab thing. I would really appreciate your thoughts 😊
I started a coding channel and I’m looking to collaborate soon. This helps. Thank you!
I like your aspirational collab with Ali - that would be a video I would absolutely love to watch!
great video as always! trying to grow my channel and I have a few collabs in the works.
Thank you, this was helpful
There was a missed opportunity for a collab in this video! My limited experience has a been a good collaboration works well for both channels, but a quick shoutout from another creator not so much.
Thanks for sharing. I've just discovered your channel and subscribed.
I have a small channel with very few subscribers. Any advice on what to do as a starting point?
I love doing colabs i jump on them whenever they come my way
I see you really like LEGO lol. Thanks for this video. It was eye-opening, as usual!
Havent commented in a while but "Boop the like button inc" defs deserves some accolades 😂
What you said at around 8:36 I remember watching a video from film booth and you made a small cameo in one of his videos
Well this got me thinking...
I did a collab and it was great, in process of a second one
Yes! This is a huge part of my RUclips plan. I’m working on a video that tells the audience our goal is to become friends with certain well known creators as our subscribers grow. Hopefully gets them excited to then mention us to those channels in their comments. Any thoughts on this strategy?
Wow Nate, did you hear the conversation I just had with my husband?! 😆🤔 Legit told his yesterday that my goal is to colab similar RUclips channel and then BOOM this video was posted today 🙌🏾 THANK YOU
I have a small, similar channel! Interested in collaborating?!
some questions about collabs:
- if making a video with someone or having someone else on the channel: should that video be listed in the same way like standard youtube license?
- how much financial compensation should there be? or is it more of a each person shows up once on both channels? paid in exposure lol
- if two people have already decided to make videos together, is there a realistic limit to how quickly their involvement should be rolled out?
- is it better for the other person to be granted channel permissions and upload themselves? or to manually send the video to the channel owner?
- if working on a sort of artistic project should there be some sort of rights or restrictions on the created or updated item? like cannot be posted on a patreon?
Very good
I love solid collaborations. Should I add That Nate Black to my top 5 list. Consider it done. 😅
Thanks for uploading so many great videos. I have a questions that not one single youtuber has ever answered. Hopefully you can:
If a video of mine gets a copyright claim, not copyright strike can I have that in my RUclips Channel membership only videos?
I didn't realized, but I had a video for a long time that had a copyright claim (not strike), but it was one of my RUclips member only videos. Only the members could see it. Is this a problem? It didn't seem to affect anything, but no where on the internet does this seems to be talked about. Thanks in advanced!
Things to take note when doing collaborations is if that person is able to embrace and accept you for who you are. If they can't, even if you get the collaboration, you will be restricted or constrained when doing self expression, which can contribute to you being unhappy overtime. Examples like they want you to behave and dress a certain way which does not resonate with you
So when can I pencil you in Nate 😆🤣
Collaborations helped my channel a ton in the early days. I recently fell off on doing this. Thanks for this, Nate!
Here is a question: When doing a collaboration, do you put the collaborators picture in your thumbnail? Thoughts?
Great video as usual Nehemiah! At what size should you consider doing collaborations? I’m only at 180 subs so far. I feel like it may still be a little early for me.
Howdy Howdy Nate! I liked the Boop The Like Button Pun. Your advice and editing is fantastic however it's your ability to connect with your audience that other education channels should take note!
Thanks for that!
Once a guy reached out for collab but we were in different timezone, a few meetings went by and it still did not happen. I find it best to have someone locally to collab rather than remotely.
Would you recommend exploring collaboration outside of your niche if you appreciate the creator?
if the niche you’ve found yourself in has two types of audience members has something inherently wrong been done when niching down?
I reached out to a Dr that I wanted to collaborate with. She agreed but I couldn’t figure out how to bring her into a recording in OSB so I just dropped it and didn’t get back to her. It’s been 6 months and I’m so embarrassed about not getting back to her.
Just asking her to record on her phone would have been way better. I feel dumb again but thanks! lol
Hey Nate!🎉
Marking april 16th on my calendar.
Hi Nate! Thanks for the template. I clicked on it several times and mine didn't look like yours. I just have a basic Click Up Home Page. Would love to use this. Anything I can do?
@thatnateblack do you have suggestions on maximizing collaborations with people who might not have a channel (or know the video creation process) but have access or knowledge to a topic relevant to your channel?
For example, I work with a lot of scientists who work with protected animals and don't make videos. Other examples: Adam Regusea or Tom Scott.
I like this video 😊
I enjoy your boop the like button quotes😂
