This was the right decision. We got screwed over by the suits running the pac 12. Though financially it's not what the other schools are getting. That will happen. Washington will be on TV nationally, be playing much better competition, recruiting will go off the rails in a positive way. And it'll drive us to be a much stronger program in all sports. And academically we are at the very top. It only made sense!!!

Rutgers, Nebraska and Maryland all came into the league that way. Maryland got a loan from the B1G to pay off stadium renovations that were needed and that loan was just taken off the payments in an affordable manner. By the next contract, both schools will be fully vested, and it may be north of $100k per year.

They should play the apple cup every year at Lumen Field. Both schools will benefit with the increased revenue. UW by a bit but WSU by a lot. If Thanksgiving weekend, most of WSU is back home anyway.

There is no way they can comment on the travel aspects, until the scheduling is complete.
Just because a student athlete "misses" class, doesn't mean they are not getting their education. People have been getting diplomas from online courses for a long time.
With technology today, they should be able to keep up.

    • @billw715
      @billw715 10 месяцев назад +1

A few of the courses these athletes may be enrolled in could be online but the vast majority of academic courses are in class. And, this does not just affect the football team, which will play about 5 or 6 road games a season. You have other sports that play a lot more games than football in their relative sport. Traveling from Seattle to New Jersey for a game or a series will take its toll on student athletes.
Per the Mayo Clinic, "Jet lag symptoms usually occur within a day or two after traveling across at least two time zones. Symptoms are likely to be worse or last longer the farther you travel. This is especially true if you fly east. It usually takes about a day to recover for each time zone crossed. "
These students are not just in college to play sports. They are there to get a degree.

Oregon and Washington will enter the league in the top half of the most competitive teams. Matter of fact, I would put USC, Oregon and Washington along with Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State as programs that can expect to be playing for a chance in the 12 team CFP. Where this expansion ends? I have no clue but I'm sure that the B1G wants to expand into the southeast (Florida, Georgia, etc) if and when the ACC can get out of their Grant of Rights.

That’s what is so great about opinions - everyone has one. UW has 17 Rose Bowl appearances, 2 national championships (4 if you count them like Alabama likes to) and many prominent bowl bids. Ohio State and Michigan could laugh at PSU for a similar type statement compared to them.

@@averagebloke4474I totally agree with you bro these Washington and Oregon fans already chirping they have no idea what they’re in for In football and basketball. They have no idea how hard it is to win in the Big Ten on the road. Ask Nebraska how’s it’s working out for them . They also joined the Big Ten thinking they were going to dominate and haven’t won a damn thing . I’m telling you you coming to Big ten thinking you just gone walk over the so called lower tier teams you got another thing coming. Michigan and Ohio State just don’t walkover teams in the Big Ten. Lots of dogfights in the Big Ten every week. So good luck my friend you’re going to need it

Both UW and PSU went through periods of time where they drifted. However, both are in the top 20 all time in wins, have won nattys, and have produced som great seasons. The fact is, Penn State has 5 Conf titles, 2 natty’s and 2 Rose Bowls after only making 4 total appearances. Where as UW has 17
Conf titles, 2 claimed nat’s, 7 rose bowl wins in 15 appearances, and the second longest undefeated and
      Longest unbeaten streaks in Fball
History. Let’s not try and drag each other down, let’s try and build up, so we can smoke OSU, UM, and USuC, in the coming years. This move will definitely raise UW’s profile and help in recruiting, but will also make it much harder to have all those good/great seasons. It’ll also give each other an additional quality opponent when they play. With that said, I do agree they’ll be in the top half of the B1G, with PSU, vs the lower half.

@@daddio159 it’s cool I’m interested in seeing Lincoln Riley and USC playing in Minnesota, Illinois , Michigan, Ohio , New Jersey in October and November . Can you run your little offense in 20 degrees and below weather. USC , Washington, Oregon get ready my friends .Very little Southern California and no Arizona weather for you in October and November.. lol button up your chinstrap. The most comparable Big Ten team is Utah and all of you guys got your asses handed to you by Utah . Good luck

Ohio state, Michigan, penn state, Wisconsin, Iowa all in the top 25. Ohio state Michigan penn state in the top 10.
With the way matt rhule is recruiting I would say by 2024 or 2025 Nebraska will be in the top 25. With the addition of the 4 pac 12 teams the big ten could have as many as 10 teams in the top 25.

Illinois basketball is one top programs in the country and especially better than University of Washington basketball. Don’t lump Illinois in with your hatred . I can say the same thing About Washington State , Oregon State , Cal, Stanford Arizona. So STFU 🤡
