The approach on parenting you were talking about is how I was raised. That’s gen x stuff. We weren’t entertained all day. We played using our imaginations and built forts and created our own games and were a part of the family doing chores and part of the conversations. It absolutely made me more independent and able to figure things out myself and be a more well rounded person. I personally think it’s a great way to be raised. And even though I didn’t need my parents to help me with everything they were always there when I needed them and as an adult became my best friends.

The anxiety after becoming a mom is a whole other level that I wasn’t prepared for. Had my 3rd baby 6 months ago and what’s helped me calm my nerves is finding scripture that counteracts the negative thoughts. And when those thoughts come, use the scripture as your weapon! Jesus loves you❤ Thank you for sharing about the parenting in different countries. Definitely going to implement some of that
Just had my third well she’s 6 months old now as well but same! Started trusting more in Jesus and it’s helped so much! Jesus is real and we have to surrender to him!
Hi Julia! When you were speaking about the book you are currently reading it reminded me to shine more light on Montessori philosophy. I won’t say too much about it, there is a ton of information out there. But I have practiced Montessori lifestyle with my girls since birth and they went to a Montessori pre school and now go to a Montessori 1st-8th school. All I can say is that I never played with my toddlers (unless I wanted to). They were extremely independent from birth basically. Now they are 10y and 8y, extremely independent and always have been. It’s just an amazing way to raise children. They are beyond mature in their age and way more ahead in school than kids around. They have a huge respect for all humans, they take care of pets in their classroom, grow fruits and veggies at school, they vacuum and water plants. I have been doing these things with them since they were 1yo, and they continue doing these things at school. It’s amazing to see them grow up to be so respectful and independent.

After watching u talk about the book I invited my toddlers to join me in placing fresh florals in a vase This in NOT something I would usually do with them-but it was awesome, we talked about colors and aromas. It was a real life sensory activity! My 22 mo picked up all the tiny leaves and cuttings which was activating his fine motor skills! Ive been wanting to read the book, thanks for the endorsement!
Omg seriously ME…. I constantly feel like I need to be entertaining my son or trying to teach my him lessons all day every day and i feel like I have to be the one to (this might sound weird) but LIVE for him… as in feeling like I should be sitting by his side nonstop and guiding him through every second of every day. It gives me complete and utter anxiety as soon as I wake up each morning. Every time I do something for myself or for my career or even just working makes me mom guilt trip to the point where I feel physically paralyzed and can’t do anything at all. Then I feel even more guilty because I didn’t do ANYTHING for the day..(as in play with my son, or spend quality time with him, or do my work or even chores around the house). Please someone out there say I’m not the only one that feels like this… because I literally feel like a crazy person that just overthinks everything and worries ever since I had my son. My whole identity feels like it’s been snatched from me and shoved back in me as something else… and I don’t know how to connect with it and trust that letting go of control is what is going to fix it. I’ve been working on reframing my mindset and having a routine and it’s helping but damn… I see other moms just not care and go with the flow and not have any mom guilt and yell at their kids and show them their emotions without holding back… and it works… their kids are well behaved but also not lacking love..and I’m over here puking inside because I feel like I’m not doing enough. That may have made absolutely no sense… and I went on a crazy tangent … but I guess I want to just THANK YOU for sharing your feelings in this video about your current motherhood mindset. I definitely don’t want to say anything that could be offensive to you it’s just a thought of something maybe you should do some research about. Just trying to be helpful. It may be something you have already explored so again just trying to be helpful. My son suffers with this and I don’t know if you ever watch Victoria (use to be In the Frow) on RUclips. Recently they have actually opened up about her husband having feelings like this and it being hard on their marriage for many yrs and not really understanding why he was feeling like this. He finally saw a therapist and they actually diagnosed him adult ADD. ADD can be different from person to person. It doesn’t just mean you can’t focus for many it’s just unexplained anxiety. It’s also very different as an adult. My son also has ADD and it mostly just causes him to feel anxiety and have a short fuse. Now that he knows and understands and can acknowledge and see him self when he has these moments he has learned how to cope and what helps him through it. Victoria and her husband have been very open about his journey because they want to help anyone that may struggle with these feelings and don’t understand why they feel like this. Please understand I am in no way saying this is what you’re feeling it was just something I’ve experienced with my son and also listening to Victoria and her husband being open wanting to help others made me just want to pass it forward. Vic’s husband said now that he understands his feelings and what he’s doing to help himself has made his life so much better. I will pray your uncomfortable feeling will diminish and go away❤

Such an enjoyable vlog... Retired 27-year Interior Designer here and just thinking: The artwork is absolutely, perfectly fabulous! Definitely LARGER lamp on left and perhaps no lamp on other side. Maybe a collection of varying height and size vases instead and one of the vases could be squatty and elongated with a low height plant on a book stack. Maybe reading-style floor lamps on either side of the sofa or at least on the opposite side of the sofa from the credenza lamp with the second one by the chair. Thoughts On: Anxiety - I truly think that with females, hormones play much more a part of our moods than we realize & I think that there isn't enough research done on it. One day you wake up and you feel like you can take on the world, get so much accomplished - the next day your irritable and depressed - you think to yourself, did I do something different, did I eat too much sugar, etc. etc. - you say to yourself no, nothing different. Hormones seriously. Sometimes, just a little thing like the seasons changing can affect how you feel - the relaxing pace of summer ending, and gearing back up for all of the responsibilities you have on your plate - and you and Hunter really do have a lot going on. Parenting: A book I recommend is called "Simplicity Parenting" - (author: Kim John Payne) as I read it, lightbulbs go off, and I'm like, Yes, that is so true. P.S. Love your wedding band stack and love the black leather cowboy boots!

The food pickiness is suchhh a phase! My 2.5 year old still goes through them. I found the most important thing is to still give their faves while containing to give all foods and they’ll try whenever but if they’re not offered then they’ll never have the chance to eat them. It’s so funny my little one will love one food one week then hate it the next 🤣
Suggestion for your wall......I would wallpaper it in colors that you like and then hang a huge square mirror or 2 vertical mirrors with some height to them on top of the wallpaper. It will make that room look so much bigger and probably show off a reflection of your fireplace!

I grew up in the Philippines and I agree how my parents and grandparents raised me the same way you described. I can cook rice and cut veggies and fruits on my own at 8 yrs old. I mostly played with my neighbor friends and we played outdoors a lot too. This was 32 years ago! And I do try to raise my kids same way but of course it’s a bit different living in the US versus in the Philippines. I’m very interested in that book now! Would love to read more about it!

I think on top of all you've got going on regular everyday life wise...You could be feeling an underlying anxiety about all you've got going on house wise? It's a Lot! It seems like you are truly sad that apparently you guys aren't going to ultimately be moving into the cabin as you had planned? I think that's a big switch to your expectations & may take a moment for your mind, body & spirit to process!? Certainly sharing about it here & using all of the tools you have in your toolbox i.e. working out & taking care of your body is great! Maybe talking to a therapist might help? It's really amazing what a difference that can make! I also find some simple meditation can really calm the mind! Just some thoughts!! Always remember the airplane oxygen analogy - ya know - how they tell you to put your oxygen mask on first before your child's - bcse if you can't breathe how can you possibly help them?? And finally - our kids just want to spend time with us. Nothing fancy or incredibly complicated. They want our attention & time they don't care in what form it comes...we tend to put that pressure on ourselves. Children, well humans in general, but especially children are quite adaptable & very resilient!!

The anxiety could be from coffee, I remember you cut it out and recently started drinking coffee again. I noticed when I cut out coffee it makes a major difference!
Love the rings very unique !!! I had a child that was a picky eater. Come to find out he was allergic to gluten. Hunter is correct Europe’s food is cleaner. They have a lot of speciality food shops in Louisville, Kentucky. The other son was not picky and he would eat the salad or soup before each meal. God gave us children but we are just around for their adventure in life.
I have 18 month old twins and they are the same way with food. Eats a huge breakfast And during the day it’s yogurt, apple sauce pouches and maybe a cheese quesadilla. Will not eat dinner and then act so hungry when they have a bottle before bed. I’ve been so stressed about finding something they will eat

Such an enjoyable vlog... Retired 27-year Interior Designer here and just thinking: The artwork is absolutely, perfectly fabulous! Definitely LARGER lamp on left and perhaps no lamp on other side. Maybe a collection of varying height and size vases instead and one of the vases could be squatty and elongated with a low height plant on a book stack. Maybe reading-style floor lamps on either side of the sofa or at least on the opposite side of the sofa from the credenza lamp with the second one by the chair. Love the scale of the plant on the left. Btw, been using this method of cooking rice for 30+ years! It makes the best... Happy Life, Loves!!!!

Thoughts On: Anxiety - I truly think that with females, hormones play much more a part of our moods than we realize & I think that there isn't enough research done on it. One day you wake up and you feel like you can take on the world, get so much accomplished - the next day your irritable and depressed - you think to yourself, did I do something different, did I eat too much sugar, etc. etc. - you say to yourself no, nothing different. Hormones seriously. Sometimes, just a little thing like the seasons changing can affect how you feel - the relaxing pace of summer ending, and gearing back up for all of the responsibilities you have on your plate - and you and Hunter really do have a lot going on. Parenting: A book I recommend is called "Simplicity Parenting" - (author: Kim John Payne) as I read it, lightbulbs go off, and I'm like, Yes, that is so true. P.S. Love your wedding band stack and love the black leather cowboy boots!

The food pickiness is suchhh a phase! My 2.5 year old still goes through them. I found the most important thing is to still give their faves while containing to give all foods and they’ll try whenever but if they’re not offered then they’ll never have the chance to eat them. It’s so funny my little one will love one food one week then hate it the next 🤣
Suggestion for your wall......I would wallpaper it in colors that you like and then hang a huge square mirror or 2 vertical mirrors with some height to them on top of the wallpaper. It will make that room look so much bigger and probably show off a reflection of your fireplace!

I like the book your reading, I know Smoke is a big part of your life and you want to fill his time with fun stuff to keep him entertained, but I liked how you were describing what the author was saying people had the babies adjusting into the adults life, and that’s how I remember growing up. Then when you have more kids, you can’t expect to be all about playing with them all all day, taking them places, it swallows you up. You guys are great parents and it’s been fun watching you guys from your wedding, all the travelling you did and now parenthood. How fun you’ll be able to watch your videos when your grandparents. Seems a long way off but here before you know it.

I grew up in the Philippines and I agree how my parents and grandparents raised me the same way you described. I can cook rice and cut veggies and fruits on my own at 8 yrs old. I mostly played with my neighbor friends and we played outdoors a lot too. This was 32 years ago! And I do try to raise my kids same way but of course it’s a bit different living in the US versus in the Philippines. I’m very interested in that book now! Would love to read more about it!

I think on top of all you've got going on regular everyday life wise...You could be feeling an underlying anxiety about all you've got going on house wise? It's a Lot! It seems like you are truly sad that apparently you guys aren't going to ultimately be moving into the cabin as you had planned? I think that's a big switch to your expectations & may take a moment for your mind, body & spirit to process!? Certainly sharing about it here & using all of the tools you have in your toolbox i.e. working out & taking care of your body is great! Maybe talking to a therapist might help? It's really amazing what a difference that can make! I also find some simple meditation can really calm the mind! Just some thoughts!! Be Well Julia! 🧡❤💛💫 Edited to add - My take away from parenting ( & my daughter is 30) has always been that being a parent is as difficult as it is rewarding!! Always remember the airplane oxygen analogy - ya know - how they tell you to put your oxygen mask on first before your child's - bcse if you can't breathe how can you possibly help them?? And finally - our kids just want to spend time with us. Nothing fancy or incredibly complicated. They want our attention & time they don't care in what form it comes...we tend to put that pressure on ourselves. Children, well humans in general, but especially children are quite adaptable & very resilient!!

Love the rings very unique !!! I had a child that was a picky eater. Come to find out he was allergic to gluten. Hunter is correct Europe’s food is cleaner. They have a lot of speciality food shops in Louisville, Kentucky. The other son was not picky and he would eat the salad or soup before each meal. God gave us children but we are just around for their adventure in life.
