Gurl, this grandma was screaming at you to put that bag in your vehicle and get away from the GAS STATION. They are notorious places to be robbed, car stolen. or kidnapped. When your face showed panic, I lost my breath. Please don't ever not pay attention at places like that. Smokey needs his Mom.
Also, you should always keep and lock your doors immediately when entering and exiting your vehicle.

Honestly what makes a house unique is the unique characteristics of almost every room in it. Not just the four square walls. I like the idea of shelving or cubbyhole above the pantry doorway. I can't wait to see it finished.

Definitely agree with too much symmetry on that wall. Some floating shelves on one side with maybe a battery operated light above them would look cool next to large artwork. Try only one lamp on the other side of the shelves. And you’re right about a taller plant/greenery!

Designers teach, if its a large tall wall you should hang artwork vertically. If it's a wall as yours, hang horizontally. But do what you want, you'll live with it, not us.

I love the oikos zero sugar too! I get the stony field yogurt for my toddler it’s a great clean brand! They have cups, tubs and drinks! We do the little yogurt drink cups and stick a straw through the top! Easy to take on the go too! They’re full of probiotics

Nashville has the best bike trail, I rode bike on it once during a visit to the area and it was, I think 27 miles but you guys could add cycling to your workouts & you could take Smoke!
I’m not sure if you like camping but what about putting a camper on the farm land as a place to relax & escape to until your dream farm home is built.
As someone who practices Interior Architecture as a profession, Hunter is very right... Architecture & Design are very emotional and is a form of imaginative expression. It's being in touch with your inner child, like living out many different realities of the future. There is no way you are in my field of work and don't become " emotionally invested."..... but if you're a "Real Estate" investor, you have to design in such a way ... to become less committed to the design intent
Oh l agree, l live in the country on 86 acres Only 10 minutes from town. My boys camped and swam on our creek, hunted, fished and road 4 wheelers. Would not change a thing. My parents lived on the land too. So maybe one of your parents will retire and move for Smokey and y’all’s other kiddos will have that relationship. The Cabin you can use some of the wood in the country land. Also, y’all can take a lot of ideas for your Country home from the cabin. When you build your Country house and Ranch style build a children’s wing for you can close the door and not have to run the ac when you get older. My Mom and Dad did that with their forever home.
I lived in Plano for like 30 years of my life and so glad to be living on land now in East Tx right by Lake Fork. I wish you both the best in fulfilling your dreams !

Question about the farm/cabin experience… it makes sense for design and investments that you’re making the choices you are but are you going to look back and wished you were raising Smokey and future children in the farm/cabin for their experience vs. the townhouse?

I love the look of 2 pieces of art that are different! I love asymmetry so I’m surprised.
How about adding sconces on both sides of the art to give symmetry. Then you can style the top with plants and candles and other art pieces. Just a suggestion.
I saw on pintrest a mirror used similar to the mirror you moved with a smaller artwork placed in one corner of mirror then tall candlesticks on one side and then the larger lamp on the other side. then some picture frames on the cabinet of memories etc looked really nice.

Yall making me want to move to the country and get some land but the weather is too good and sunny in Cali lol the hottest day of summer for me was 82 degrees lol loved your guys Texas home ! But I know Tennessee is right for yall. The cabin is very cool and looks like it has plenty of land But if you have bigger plans with the farm then you will get there :) and wow the house you guys had put an offer on was amazing !

an early morning gas station visit had me trembling all the way home!!! im pretty sure i dodged a situation that coulve gone so wrong. a man approached me asking me if he could pump my gas he leaned too far over and a gun fell out of his pocket!! i put $5 in and left as soon as he kneeled down. Ive wanted to do self defense classes ever since.
