When you are in South Florida if your last name is not Sanchez or Gonzalez , or not a white or black American can forget it not qualified that pretty much sums up the US also. I have acquaintances that is as best as you will get in the US . Think you meet someone different from the last , never the case . Have my own company , reading , my music and lap top , and pretty much keep to myself . I have got used to my own company since growing up though in the UK had friends would hang out with , but it is fine sometimes it is tedious but that goes as quickly as it comes . I have suffered a lot of discrimination in the US and I am also a US citizen . I am of colour from outside the US , it has happened again being treated like garbage again here recently , and suffered in long years of it , well not anymore . I have long time friends around the world . Just because we have not seen each other for a very long time does not mean the friendship is not there , and thanks to Facebook reconnected with a lot of them for twenty two years now .Social life or any kind of relationship in the US is no go area and expected that , really not worth it . Too agonizing , and also too much expectations

Verna, the Cat Lady; was one of the most inspirational character-actor moments in any television sit-com. Her moment just defined what NY and the crazy-zany moments and characters that one encounters, living in the Big Apple. It was a shame that the writers, couldn't find a way to give her another moment or two, in the Sun. Just loved her. And would love to have such a dear, wistful soul as my neighbor.

    • @givememore4free

The funny thing about the cat lady is that there are actually people that live with so many cats, that on my street where I used to live there was this pink house that didn't have a car and we never saw anyone come out of it but all you would see is cats everywhere on the property. The smell was horrible. You would smell it just driving your car past her house. So sad that my best friend and another class mate of mine lived on both sides of it. LMAO

This was a weird one. Some of the later Rhoda episodes were that way. Nancy Walker and Harold Gould were kinda in and out. I think one of the elements that helped kill the show was Benny. Bad part, bad actor who played him. Interestingly, it was Benny's godawful annoying brother played by the great George Wyner in Season 5 who finally rounded out that boring character!

This is a show I would think was popular mostly with women. Baby boomer women were young at this time. It was nice that Rhoda had a nice ending in with the mary tyler Moore show. When they decided to have her go through a divorce it was no longer a happy source of entertainment. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the divorce. It was just unhappiness. Not why we tuned into Rhoda. What should have happened is the writers should have worked harder at making the show something other than just a continuation of the MTM show. I did watch the show at that time but I remember the feeling I had when they decided to move the characters to divorce. Ugh, Why?
