Holden VT 5.0 ran roller cam and supentine belts. Best setup. Smooth revs and power delivery. Pity Holden waiting to end VT production to modernise 5.0
This worked well Ryan, she sounds really healthy now, and loves the revs by the sounds of it, so good to see getting some seat time in it now. Can't wait to see you killin it at chopped, good luck mate, show em what the mighty 250 can do 💪🏻
i have NEVER LIKED FLAT TAPPET CAMS = to the point of = buying a jag 4.2 ohc - escort rs 1600 ohc - and now subaru turbo ohc - i was a MG fan and many years chasing valves and rocker clearences - sold spare parts - pusher roller cam and rockers - sets ! a much better system - friction - heat - and rev range ! LOVE ROLLERS ! made vodoo roller rockers at Yella Terra as a machine operator !
Gday mate quite an interesting video. I have a red block 308 in my Sandman ute that I would like to do this to given the FLAT TAPPET issues these days. Mine wiped 3 lobes when I used the wrong modern synthetic oil. Got a new Camtech and Johnson lifters to put back in but maybe this is a better bet. Just wondering when you put new cam in did you use cam lube, run cam in and if so what type of oil did you use compared to flat tappet??? Also are you using a standard oil pump and did it change oil pressure much??? Nice car too.
Hi, thanks for the question. I used some cam lube on the cam but it’s not really as essential when using a roller lifter. Before starting the engine I’ll usually pull the oil pressure sender out and connect a brass nipple and squeeze oil backwards through the pump using a small 1 litre container with the pop out nozzle used for diff oil or atf. It usually makes pressure instantly. I use Penrite hpr30 for oil, seems to work well. When I installed the cam I also blocked the hole in the end of the cam retainer bolt by peening it over with a ball pein hammer. From all I’ve read there is plenty of oil splashed from elsewhere to keep that front cover area well oiled. That seemed to have upped the oil pressure 10 psi right across the rev range.
@@codey2912 hey mate what symptoms to you have and has your engine got rollers or flat tappet? I’m pretty sure all VT have roller lifters. Sometimes you’ll have one go bad. If you have the rocker covers off wiggle all the rockers and you might find one or two loose ones.
It’s really good to drive, not “cammy” at all really. I’m not sure how it would be with an auto and small stall but to be honest I can’t even notice any real difference from a stock ish cam. Not a dog to drive down low at all and pulls from down low.
Sorry but i had to re upload this at 1080p as the last was accidently 480p. thanks for checking it out
great and WE LOVE TASSIE = thanks mate you bloody ripper !
HEL LOW. Thanks for the vid. Short, sharp and shine. Part numbers aswell. Excellent stuff.

With the oil pump I am using a standard one but I did pull it apart and smooth all the internal transitions and edges to help out with oil flow.
No need to remove double valve springs for run in either with the roller lifter and cam
i only watch in 144p because of that mustachio
hahaha sorry not sorry
Did you ever look at LS lifters?
So my question is... when are we doing a roller for your xflow???
@@mex351 haha not touching that engine until something breaks. I might let the magic out!
I know those roads haha I have vt 304 with possible lifter issues how do you diagnose them is it obvious once the manifold is off

What's it to drive under 3thousand rpm . I'm looking at doing a cam soon, i looked at the rpm spec on your cam 3 thousand to 6500rpm .
?

Having the manual gearbox sure helps I’m sure
@TasTuned thanks I've got a vk with tkx manual gearbox
It's the lowest first gear ratio 327.1
you can buy = yella terra CYL HEADS = for 308 v8 = 600 hp out of the box ! watch chev and ford owners faces drop when you leave them standing !u
600hp with a 308?
I doubt that. Perhaps with turbos
