Hey everyone! Hope you like this video even though it's a bit unusual :)
More Unity tutorials coming up!
Brackeys we also need this videos like this, it's a real roadblock for people who don't know music to make some soundtracks or sound effects.
Your channel's helpful for people like me who want to design video games, and that's part of designing video games, so it's not unusual
can you start a course?
i really liked the video
FINISH THE MULTIPLAYER FPS COURSE!
One more thing: NEVER CLICK ESCAPE IF YOU DIDN'T SAVE
THIS. I've almost gone mad by it simply closing on me without a prompt.
Totally didn't just press escape
I MEAN WHY WOULD IT SAVE WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING; WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?
Log Dog agreed I made a master piece and deleted it
but what if you dont wanna save

Brackeys: "Let's try placing one down, here."
**fart**
Brackeys: "That sounds a lot better."

I scrolled down the exact moment he said that xD
Your profile pic.......
For anyone wondering it is pronounced “bus-ca key-ol”. It is Irish for music box
Shane McC you totally didnt just copy exactly that from the website.
Home Srn What? Im Irish. I did Irish for 15 years in school. I didn’t copy anything.
@@shanemcc8216 oh. Sorry
Irish Gaelic makes no sense orthographically.
Lol I always pronounced it "boss-cah see-oil"
"you cant just put random notes and make a song out of it"
me:"haha song goes brrr"
did you wishlist karlson on steam?

Wow that was really cool
Stupid youtubers: another very, very, very important thing is to subscribe and like
Brackeys: Another very, very, very important thing is to save your file.
nice tutorials!!!
What's wrong with RUclipsr's wanting to share their work with more people and be successful? Isn't that what we all want?
your a tutorial channel with no content. silence
oh yea, you left something out! make sure to, smash the like button on my comment.!!!!!
Du bist Deutsch

with this program you can turn your song into earrape in 1 click
give Audacity a go :p
don't do what sponge said, I got it for a digital arts project it's bad
@@jacobsc2866 Wdym Audacity is bad.. It's used in many professional work spaces, you just don't know how to use it.
If you were trying to make music with it, it isn't made to make music, not by itself anyway. It was made to manipulate already existing sounds.
@@Rocco-tb9ih Yeah that's what I meant, not good for songs. Well, you can edit the song I guess but not good for remixes or producing
FL
I'm glad you make weekly uploads bc I usually burn out/procrastinate on any Unity project and your tutorials recharge my motivation each week

As someone who has never done music in their life and knows nothing about it, this feels very approachable! Thank you for showcasing this tool and giving a quick tutorial on it! :3
Thats Irish! Bosca = Box, Ceoil = Music. Irish is weird so it doesn't mean box music but actually music box! It's pronounced Bosca = bus ka, Ceoil = Ke-ole (Pronounced with one syllable)
Irish is weird.

Very interesting to see a program named in my native language... Unexpected but cool :o
I love your use of musical terminology like "this sound that we're currently using is really bad" or "I think this sound... is pretty good".
I'm so glad you made a video about this because this is something a lot of people struggle with!

*When you used FL studio for nearly a year and your brother who's currently learning Unity tells you the existence of this software*
Is this one better ?
@@jean7464 fl studio is a full blown DAW so if you plan on also producing songs not only for your games, go for that
@@torototoro1252 okay thank you ^^
@@jean7464 As someone who's used FL for a long time, this is a surprisingly great tool for composing. Having strict limitations can make it a lot easier to write music and to feel confident in your choices, plus it helps you take things slowly.
@@GlitzPixie thank you for the answer ^^
For those who didn't know, bosca ceoil is directly translated from Irish as music box but actually means an accordion.
You are a legend bro!
Always tutorials I am looking for :D
Wtf... where has this program been my whole life?
I don't use patreon but this guy is so good that I watch the whole ad every time! Thanks man
FIX FOR DOWNLOAD: When on the page to download, right click the "Download (OS)" and click copy link address and paste it in new tab. :)

this is exactly the program that I've been looking for! As a a musician, I've been wanting something that is intuitive and not too technical.
This man was a Absolute legend and always have a spot in my heart for game creating
if the download link is not working. try this........right click the "download windows" button and click on the "open link in new window". and refresh the new window it should work after that.
thank you so much this fixed it.
Thanks that worked for me too
You're too multi-talented for people like myself!
Hey, do not worry about that, just go for the things you like the most, put much more focus into those, or actualy that one you really like the most, say, in the videogame creation process you specially enjoy designing the game, but it s useful for you to also program, do some graphics and music, well you can also learn and practice those, but just with less intensity, and you will eventually get decent with those as well.
Maybe it is not the best approach, and it is better if you actually enjoy those, if you just like programming, or music, or the art, do one of those. But there is no need to feel that you actually need to be capable in every aspect of the creation process or that if you don't, you are not good enough.
In larger teams, or in a team, you are going to have available someone for each role, or more, but with a certain degree of specialization. But, taking the example of game design, it is great to have some experience in every aspect.
I think that specialization is key, but learning a little bit of other aspects, or doing the things you enjoy anyway, is very important as well :)
He's really not that talented at music, this is Year 7/7th grade stuff. As in, you learn this stuff in your first year of high school.
My high school certainly never taught us how to compose music.
暗知能 my HS didn’t even give coding classes
just get the software and randomly click on stuff. Then change some stuff if it sounds off. repeat. Congratulations you are now a musician.
I was a fan since you just started making Videos on RUclips. I am very happy to you prosper. Now, almost every new Indie or any Game Dev knows You, it is a very good thing for me to know that EveryOne knows my old Mentor!
Dude, the way you explained in this video is amazing! Your tutorials keep becoming more professional every time :) I hope they sponsored you for this video because you sold me on it :D
okay this is really weird that's the third time you do it !! i was looking for tutorials yesterday --" man you are a superhuman and i love your videos you always do what ppl need, excellent job
Can we get an AI tutorial? Not trying to give you too much work but it could be cool :)
Sebbiast bump
That would be great!
Sebbiast y
Sebbiast yes it would be great
omg brackeys thank you, thank you, thank you. i dont know if you saw had asked you to do a video tutorial on how to use this program and you did! ive tried using it before you made this and it seemed intimidating. I already knew the basics of music and scales and stuff but your video made is so easy to understand how to use them! THANK YOU!!!!!
Making music for games always seemed out of reach for me since all the programs were really confusing and hard to get into. But thanks to this well explained tutorial and exceedingly simple music maker I'm finally able to make my own game music!
I am a musician and a game developer at the same time. This app is cool, and I really love it. It's one of the best tools for "quick" music production, but I prefer to make music for games like I do for films (I do film compositions). I think about the atmosphere of the game (which is really important), then I make some basic ideas (a few piano/guitar chords and some melodies to match them). Then, I try to develop the idea. Like arpeggiating the chords and spreading the melodies, adding drones and ambient elements.
This is how I make music for my games :)
Never clicked a video this fast before
sander Hoel when I saw ur profile pic I thought it was a hair and it made me click on ur channel lmao

Thank you so much! I've always wanted to learn how to make my own music but it seems like such a daunting task. This was easy to follow and I can't wait to download the software and try it out myself.
This was amazing for those of us that are interested in the Ludum Game Jam, those who already do, and or solo developers. It took me about 5 minutes and I already had something workable.
"Created by Terry Cavanagh" - I have played some of his games! Super hexagon, Don't Look Back, Naya's Quest, VVVVVV, and even Alphaland was created in part by this developer. He actually made a music creation app?
Yup
For anyone who want to use this software now it will not download unless you go back to 2017- 19 on the wayback machine.
Thank you!
That "Middle Click" Drag to new track... that puts a smile on my face... Subscribed!
As always with Brackeys, this was an excellent overview. Thanks!!
I actually know music, but I'll give this a try because it helps to keep it simple! Thank you Brackeys :D
0:16 It says right below/to the right of the title on the site how you pronounce it
Your videos are really motivating. As a Unity beginner, I've learned how to design games and make it to real. Thank you for your videos!
I've never heard of this program until now and it looks awesome! Thanks guys for making this video!
This just got recommended to me and it brought me straight back to my second year of uni (2020-2021) when I did games development and we had to use Bosca Ceoil to make a soundtrack... fun yet stressful times 😆 I ended up doing computer science for my third year and getting a degree in it!!
If the download button doesn't work (I'm on Windows 10), then right-click it, and hit open in a new tab and it should download!
THX !!!!!! you saved my life !
you absolute legend
Your tutorials are amazing dude keep up i subscribed
Everything you do is really helpful and inspirational! Thanks for every video that you put time and effort into :)

You dirty minded fooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!!!
he just looks so happy while he's... Having fun.

I used Bosca Ceoil in my LD38 entry. Such a useful tool. Cool thing that I realized while looking at the website is that it's by Terry Cavanagh, the developer behind Super Hexagon and VVVVVV.
For LD39 I'm actually debating on dusting off my copy of FLStudio to make something. That or Renoise since it's pattern-based too. Not sure which.
Anyway, thanks for the video! You do awesome work.
This video had perfect timing. I'm going to my first game jam this weekend and I'll probably be using this program for some quick music
this is exactly what i wanted!! i only play by hear a ver ysimple instrument and this visual way of working allows me trial and error in a way i actually get too see/ear why something sounds like that!!tthank you!
10:52 I love/hate how everyone did everything but that
Bosca Ceoil is pronounced "Buss-ka Key-ol" and its Irish for "Music Box" :D
Wow, awesome! It looks so easy to work with. I'm definitely giving this a try! Thanks for the video.
dud, you are amazing! Me and a couple of friends started to work on a game a couple of months ago, and the sound part was our biggest horror. You saved us!!! Thanks! I hope to see you on the cover of Forbes! :P

I'm so thankful that there are amazing people in this world like Terry Cavanagh to make apps like this and people like Brackey's to show us how to use it, all for free.
“It’s called Boska errr something”. Lol
connot download now?
Nice work man, you don't know how much you have helped me.
Had been struggling with various programs. Brackeys makes a video about the topic and, as always, my problems are now gone :)
this man just explains music in like 3 min, which is significantly faster than the majority of schools. just saying.
after a lot and i mean a lot of trial and error i finally got it working
my songs go by really fast any fix
Forget FL Studio, Ableton, Logic, and basically everything, this is my new favourite DAW
Great tutorial! This is something that I've been looking for!
Awesome! he made a song in one tutorial!
I tried it out and it seems decent for making a simple track quickly, but it really annoys me that there is no undo button.
I have downloaded Bosca befor i saw it in your videos and I was a completely beginner but now...I have a bit of experience . Thx +Brackyes !
Awesome Work , was waiting for this video
Bosca Ceoil... this is the first time I've seen the Irish language online xD I'm proud
its also worth noticing that .wav is usually unnecessarily big, so its a good idea to convert it to .mp3. There are many free oline converters out there.
also bosca is from the legendary Terry Cavanagh!
YES THANK YOU BRACKEYS THE TUTORIAL I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR
was looking for a way to make looping music for my game..thanx a lot..for this video...and all the good work u've been doing
The Irish name means “music box”
Pronounced as “boh-scah keeole”
10:04 IT'S OVER 9000!!!
yeah Nappa be like: this can't be true
I love this program, although I know nothing about music so I haven't been able to make anything good yet. Thanks for this, Brackeys.
Thanks! I haven't heard of this programme before, but I will definitely be using this in the next Ludum Dare. A great tutorial as always!
This might be a silly question, but how do I save my song as a .wav? It won't let me put it in a folder. PLEASE HELP!
If you were watching the video he "EXPORTED" the song to .wav the program only saves as .ceol
Make sure that you removed the "*" from the name
I can't download it lol
why
you need to go to the second link that works
I am very very happy to get to know about this software.Lots of likes to your videos.
THANK YOU BRACKEYS.
This tutorial seemed to cover more than what tutorials for other software cover. I hardly know anything about music, I have only played drums so this helped me understand it better.
2:15 why didn’t you finish the octave!
I personally use Ableton Live for music production
me 2
I personally use the main rival of Ableton
FL Studio 20
It’s nice that they have so many free programs for game development. It really helps being a game developer to have great tools like this.
I downloaded this software just yesterday n it was really easy to learn n is very interesting to play with 😆 n today by watching this video I learned a few things , so thanks Brackeys u r the best man !! keep uploading need to learn alot of things from u 🙂🙂
That moment he says the sound is really bad .. but i liked it .. why brackeys 😩💔
so this is so good for 8-bit games music, what if I want to make smooth music for my game ?
#ME I'm not sure what you mean by "smooth music" but for all kinds of music (including 8 - bit) there are these programs called DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations). They aren't very hard to use and you can literally make any kind of music imaginable; all you need is the instrument (either in real life or as a plugin). A DAW I would recommend a lot is Reaper: it's only 60$ and it works amazingly well. I'm using it to make iron maiden style metal music for a pixelart 2D action RPG.
Hope this helps. Cheers!
then its more advanced. go fruity loops or something. although i made this really cool tribal sounding music in this program with some wood instrument so you can do more than just 8bit, try changing the low pass filters.
Akshat Sahay Do you know of any good clean electric guitar midi samples i could use in Reaper with an amp sim to get a good metal guitar sound without you know actually having a guitar :/
Yes, i use FL Studio 12 for music production. Im actually better at making music than making games lol(i do edm)
Increase pattern
Used Bosca Ceoil a lot. But didn't know about the middle mouse drag. That's gonna come in handy! Thanks!
This video is a Godsend thank you so much, I knew how to use the software but I was totally lost when it came to creating the awesome songs I heard in your game jam videos, many thanks friend,
