I drove to New Brunswick Canada for just over 3 minutes totality. I was showing people sun-spots while waiting for the eclipse. A fellow nearby set up a spotting scope and then put on his solar glasses and was about to look thru the eyepiece. I stopped him and explained that wouldn't work nor be safe. I had a cardboard shoe box in my car and set up a solar projection with his spotting scope. His wife thanked me after the eclipse. I didn't take pictures of the eclipse as I never experienced it before and didn't want to miss anything. My wife took pictures for me! Love your video captures.
this was my first total as in 93 i just got in the hobby but didnt have any glasses. It was cloudy here where iam but it was amazing how dark it got. i drove almost 2 hrs away to the beach so i was not in the city nor was there any street lights. thanks john
I’m in northern Vermont and we got about 90 seconds of totality. I’ve seen a number of solar eclipses over the years, non of them total, and like you I questioned just how different this one could be. Seeing that ring of fire however made me a believer. Got lucky and my time lapse video got a decent capture of the Diamond ring. Just happened to snap a frame at the right time. Don’t think I could recommend seeing totality strong enough to anyone who might have a chance in the future.
Sounds like you got longer than we did. I'm still very appreciative that we got to see anything. The clouds only parted about two minutes before totality. And yah, the ring of fire - I'd read about it and seen photos, but to see it person was just bizarrely alien. I'm hooked.
I got to see the 2017 eclipse from eastern Oregon. That was very cool! I had people from NASA parked next to me who were taking temperature measurements and other documentation and timings while getting glimpses through my 8 inch Edge Schmidt Cassegrain scope.
Awesome I'd love to see one I think the most I've seen was aprrox 98% & while you didn't see the proms on the edge it still did get quite dark the temperature dropped & the birds all stopped singing
New to Astronomy and having just recently purchased a new SCT telescope and all necessary gear for watching and photographing the eclipse, the wife and I drove 6 hours to Arkansas to be dead center of the totality. The experience was overwhelming to say the least. we made plans and reservations to stay at a mountain top B/B where there were multiple families to share the eclipse with. it was one of the best times of my life. Here is a short that my wife took of a 360 degree sunset. ruclips.net/user/shortsoH1nxJOexao Happy Gazing, F5
It sounds like we had a similar experience. It was such a bizarre alien sight that there really are no words to exactly describe it other than pure awe.

I live in New Brunswick, it was great! Very fortuitous you were able to provide that warning to him, thank you!
Congrats on seeing all three minutes, but thank you for saving that guys eyeball! That's just terrifying.
@@lastsonofkrypton3918 We drove from the Valley in Nova Scotia to Richibucto, New Brunswick. I was so glad it was sunny that day.
Went to Bulgaria August 1999 and done the same as you.just took it in visually.spectacular event that I will cherish
A very memorable event for sure! I'd really like to see another one, but get the full maximum time.

Half the fun of the eclipse is seeing how it affects your surroundings - very surreal experience!
@@AstronomyGarage ya that was fun

I saw 2017 & 2024. Both were beyond spectacular and a good bit different from each other.
I'm jealous! Now that I've seen one (April 8th), I am extremely motivated to see another one, especially if it's longer than 1 minute.
I travelled halfway around the world to see it from Mexico. And now, looking forward to catching the three in 2026, 2027 and 2028.
I’m so envious. Would love to see a total eclipse one day.
There's always next time. If you don't mind flying, I think there's one in Spain in 2026.
And a 6-minute one in 2027, in Spain, North Africa and Arabia.

That sounds like an awesome experience!
I live in Tucson Az but we were in Grapevine Tx with my sister and it was spectacular>
Congrats on the perfect timing!
Very very cool indeed🤙🏻
i'm so jealous of y'all right now i was so far away from the path 😭
If you don't mind traveling, there are a couple showing up in two years in Spain and north Africa.

It's a surreal experience all around for sure. Thank you for watching!
The link to the pool ball reflector video says it's not available any more. Please check.
Thank you! I've updated the links. Here it is though: ruclips.net/video/EWBm1nsQ1ag/видео.html
Nice! Unfortunately my end of the world prediction didn't come true. Oh well, there's always a next time 🤔
Fingers crossed!
