    That is Ethel Shutta, not Betty Grable, who is singing and (wildly) dancing in this number.

    Brilliant!
    I only wish that the transfers made for the re-issue of the picture sounded so fine. I notice a little distortion which I assume is from wear, and some pitch problems, which I suspect may be for to a turntable which hasn’t quite the power for a heavily recorded 16” wax record, but all in all this gives a far better impression of Vitaphone sound than do most dvds of this material.

      the label in the pix looks like a commercial 78 release.

    Very interesting but after seeing the picture I prefer to watch all the wonderful dancing choreographed by Busby Berkeley and in color! This excerpt is from the beginning. If you have not seen Whoopee I highly recommend it. The music and dancing are superb! Highly entertaining! BTW the female singer is a very young Betty Grable.
