    I find it kind of interesting that every time someone says “here’s how I found my style outside of trends!” their style is extremely trendy.

      By own style most people mean a style they are most confident with. Not something conpletely original. And by wearing conpletely original Outfits most people feel like a Clown. One has to stay socially acceptad and be able to find and afford clothes after all...

    Step 1: Know your aesthetics
    1. Create a moodboard that include everything you like (shirts, bags, shoes, colors, scent, etc)
    2. Analyze and make a list why you like the styles (it can be the bag shapes, the color combo, the way the model styles the socks, etc)
    Step 2: Analyze your current wardrobe
    Essential items everyone have and should have are: jeans, shirts, jackets, shoes, accesories (you need to make clear in which shapes, styles these essential items make you most comfortable and be you.
    Step 3: Utilize your wardrobe
    1. Get a clothing rack: from the analyzed list above, try to find things you have that fit it and hang on the rack to create a physical moodboard (the rack must make you feel good!!!)
    2. Modify your inspriration outfits to suit you: stop buying new things to be exactly like the model, you can mix and match your current items to create similar vibes and aesthetics.
    3. Turn styling outfits into a game: step out of your comfort zone to set themes and dress up like a movie characters, celebrities, a main character in special events, etc.
    4. Pay attention to small things beside outfits like makeup, hair, jewelries, scent - these small details are game-changing; mix and match daily jewelries to create a new one (for example wearing a gold chain with a necklace).

    When people would say “Why are you so dressed up?” that became the reason why I don’t dress up so much anymore. It’s also the reason why I pretty much wear sweats and a sweater to practically anywhere. Now, I want to change that. And I’m going to!! Thank you for that confidence talk at the end ❤️❤️
    This is like two months later and now I’ve gotten out of the “sweats and hoodies” habit. It feels so much better to actually wear what I want 🥰 still working on it!!

    Everything is “trendy” in a way. Street style is trendy, preppy is, old money is, minimalism is, maximalism is. Your always gonna have a group of people with the “same” style as you. And when someone is different, especially with social media, they can get popular. So now it’s like you just wanna be trendy when in reality, you just really like those clothing pieces, the colors, and the style.

    • @AchOooooooooooooO

    I couldn’t possibly make a moodboard bc how do you mix lolita, dystopian, fairycore grunge, masculine, romantic goth, kidcore, kawaii/soft girl, angelcore, alt, futuristic, and y2k into one board???

    • @sydneyyy420
      @sydneyyy420 2 года назад +274

      I bet u use tiktok a lot

    • @Koko-go6ig
      @Koko-go6ig 2 года назад +184

      I don't really agree with the concept of having an aesthetic. As said in the video, know what you like about them, not just the overall vibe. The silouhette, the colour ? For me, it's best to think in terms of clothes, not in terms of vibes.
      So you like lolita, but what do you like about this style? The bell skirts? Well if you wear them, your outfits will have a lolita aftertaste. Y2K? Let's say you like baby tees and low-rise pants. Well if you wear them, your outfits will have that Y2K feel. Really, pick what you love (and feel good in !) about these aesthetics and it will be much easier to mix these styles to create a completely unique one!
      However, as another person said, be careful with tiktok (and social medias in general), it's the worst platform to get inspiration for your style. You get influenced and loose yourself.
      (edit : forgot it was mentionned in the video)

    totally agree. trends, lifestyle, interests will almost always influence the clothes you wear, and while its not a good idea to subject yourself to every trend and go throwing out your clothes at each change in them, it is totally okay for trends to influence your personal style over time

    • @bethanysingsmrs849
      @bethanysingsmrs849 10 месяцев назад

      it doesnt though. it doenst influnce the clothes you wear becuase you dont always follow trends, and your interests dont always correlate with clothes . A lot of people just see clothing as materials that you pick up from your floor everyday. Society thinks someone goth would wear dark colours, but they dont consider that the goth might see dark colours as happy go lucky so the nthey wear bright instead? You know what i mean.? And I think its ridiculous when people figure out someones personality based on clothes, thats not how personality works. Masculine people can wear feminine clothing and vise versa. In fact clothes shouldnt be gendered or seperated into different gender roles. And shy people can wear bright colours if they like it, loud people can wear all black like why does it matter so much to people. I always see people getting harrassed becasue they are in some out fit that doesn't represent hteir personality or whatever and i dont get it?

    First I just made my room a little and took a seat on my bed and made my mood board.

    I think trying to mimic other styles, especially taking inspiration from different shows and such, is going to be the most helpful for me. I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and try something that I know works, even if I wouldn't have thought of it for myself. I don't even know what my style is, only what I'm comfortable with. Thanks for actually giving advice that doesn't break the bank or encourage waste!

    Identifying *your* fabrics is also a big part of finding your style. Which fabrics do you love? Natural or synthetic? Opaque or sheer? Matte or shiny? Real or faux? Then ask which fabrics you like against your skin and which you might prefer as outwear. Then ask which fabrics 'sag' on your body. I'm a hot bodied person so even though I love silk, it sags on me from my body heat, so I avoid it.
    In the end, all of my fabric choices changed. I wear fabrics like lace, velvet, loose-knit wools and cashmere, which I'd never chosen previously. Finding your fabrics is as big as finding clothes to suit your shape and colouring.

I want to keep that "Idc" and If "I like it I'll wear it" energy, What helps me when while people are saying stuff like this I like to ask myself What do I want? Do I like it? Do I want to wear it? If so then what they say isn't relevant❤.

    What I did was I took all the clothes out of my closet, and I put them in one by one by sorting them into different sides: the tops that were my favorite and people have commented "oh that makes u look good" and then the other ones. I then looked at all the favorite ones and look a photo, and whenever I go shopping, I think "would it fit into here" and I slowly keep reducing the other side!

    I like the prompt one! Very fun. However, i have had to buy a lot of new clothes because of lifestyle change, going from a place with four seasons to Cali, body changes, and more. So not everyone has 90% of what they need. Working on it though. But do love the message and other points❤

    the intro was so cute, giving very much Lizzy McGuire, bratz, early 2000s makeover vibes and I loved it !
