- It’s been one year since Israel began its war on Gaza, and since video journalist Bisan Owda picked up her camera to show the world what’s happening on the ground.
In that time, she’s been forced from her home into continuous displacement, had bombs fall around her and documented the stories of Palestinians surrounded by their decimated homes.
She’s spoken to strangers sharing what little they have, children trekking to get water for their families and people creating a way to survive out of nothing. She’s ensured the world sees how life has changed entirely for Palestinians, sharing stories of hunger, thirst, illness, injury, bombings, grief and death.
Since October 2023, Israel’s assault has killed over 41,800 Palestinians, damaged or destroyed well over 70% of Gaza’s homes, throttled aid, and leveled infrastructure necessary for survival.

She is a huge inspiration and the people she films are a huge inspiration in the human spirit, endurance, smiling through the suffering, bravery, and generosity. I admire the people in her videos. They are showing how to survive through simple courage and not crying and demanding anyone do anything for them.
I think Israel is going to get so wrapped up in all the wars they started with even bigger adversaries that they are going to have to leave Gaza alone. Then her people can get back to cleaning and living their peaceful happy lives. Many in the USA are now homeless from hurricanes. They are fighting each other for gasoline.
The misery you cause others comes back and the peace you bring others comes back. I am glad to see people spreading goodness and trying their best.

I only wish my leaders here in the US would actually listen and care about your suffering and the outrage we as US citizens have to our countries complicity in this madness.
