I (still) have it. It's awful. Never beat it, though. Must get 'round to it some day.
I think they licensed the engine to others, as there were a lot of Crash like games, like Donald Duck Quack Attack and Lilo and Stitch.

Aw man, GTA. I wish people had played that, we could be playing some high tech version, say a fifth iteration with multiple spinoffs today. I guess we'll never know now.
To be fair, not that many people gave a damn about GTA until the 3rd one came out for the PS2. Before that, Driver 1 and 2 is what everyone looking for a 3D crime game were playing.
@@cloudtx This simply isn't the case. I was around at the time that GTA came out (1997) and it was all anyone talked about. It was a huge hit for DMA Design (Later to be known as Rockstar North). Driver (1999) beat them to making a 3D game, releasing in the same year as the top down GTA2. As a result GTA2 didn't do so well.
You're very much correct that GTA3 marked a massive turn around in the fortunes of the franchise though.
@@DavePlaysGaming You're right, I guess I sounded too dismissive. Of course people knew and played the first games, they wouldn't have made 1-2 and London otherwise haha, It's just that my experience is different. Back then all I can remember were people playing and talking about Driver.
In my country we had these arcade-like places where you could play on a console for a few hours for a couple bucks. I remember people playing Goldeneye, Driver, Crash and a few others the most. I had seen GTA 2's cover somewhere but it didn't peak my interest.

I missed the PS1 train back in 1995 when everyone else was onboard lol. I didn't get into it until 2003. Initially, I played what I remembered back then explored other stuff.
Fast forward to today. I play PS1 games on my RetroPie and on batocera on my laptop computer.
There is a potentially huge market for fan translated CDs. Kind of like how people are still making Dreamcast games, but with translated games.
I'm still waiting for a full translation of fire pro wrestling G for PS1. There is a save file but it only has the wrestlers names translated, everything else is in Japanese lol

Its actually really creepy. It's got a lot of campy voice acting too but in a good way.
All of those games looked pretty shit, makes you really get a perspective on how gaming was back in the day.

You have to remember this was early 3d, developers were just figuring stuff out at the time. It wasn't until the Xbox/GameCube/PS2 era that developers got the hang of stuff.
3d got gradually better.
I still shake my head when people say PlayStation 1 games look like atari 2600 graphics. Well, atari 2600 couldn't really do graphics that were clearly recognizable.
With PS1 you can clearly tell what something is supposed to be. With atari 2600 you have a pixelated barf blob and you have to use your imagination lol.
Back in the day the games are more challenging, a lot of grinding and has a better storyline than most games nowadays (that's why they're classics) especially now when all the developers think id money grab.
Better games back in the ps1 and ps2 era then the boring games today with just pretty graphics with lackluster gameplay

Man, Kamen Riden looks so great for a PSX, I mean, that graphics and moves are so realistic
I can tell you that this (22:48) is NOT the footage for the PS1 version of Re-Volt, that version is considered the worst out of the three versions of the game, if you want to play the game on console, play either the N64 or Dreamcast versions, otherwise stick with the original (Acclaim) PC version or the OpenGL source port; RVGL.

Does anyone remember a ps1 game where you're in like a tank or mech suit or something like that where you are underground rather on Earth or some alien planet fighting monsters. And I remember the opening cutscenes shows you have a sister and that you have a dead parent (I can't remember if it was the father or mother). I've been looking everywhere and can't think of it!

Only the Grand theft auto i know from this list, and i am not sure about Celebrity Deathmatch but i think i have played it on pc i am not sure. All the other games i don't know them.

Nothing else on there interested me, Elder Gate looks interesting, Komani is a plus, but average reviews and obvious translation issues puts me off.

Most of what is shown on this series is pretty accurate when it comes to games not many know about or ever talk about... but GTA? Come on... EVERYONE knows about that game. It even went platinum. It is 1 of the best selling PS1 games of all time... very odd choice

It's really not fair how many awesome exclusive games Japan got vs North America. I can't figure out how to get my emulator to play them, and it's really bugging the hell out of me. I really want to try LSD: Dream Emulator and many others.

Mickey's Wild Adventure. God, that brings back memories. I think it was, like, the second Playstation game I ever played (right after Tekken which came with the console). I must've had a bugged copy because it always froze on the loading screens and I could never pass it. I remember having nightmares because of it. Stupid game.

Well I've only played grand theft auto, marvel super heroes, spongebob super sponge, the emperors new groove, celebrity deathmatch, monsters inc scream team and nicktoons racing, I've played something similar to re-volt, it's called Tyco RC assault with a battery. 😁😁
Martian Ghotic was played by everyone I know , but game was buggy at times that it even managed to crash the save files. All I can say is , good idea but poor execution .
TBH I would love it to be remade in this gen Grapihics . I would imagine it to be something like Deadspace series.

Look 52 is a final fight clone. And 53 is a RE clone! It sure is true not many have played GTA 1 or 2... They are good games though. Heck ya Captain Commando! Love that game. Look an M&M Crash Clone, and look number 70 is yet another RE clone didnt know there were so many. Dino Crisis was allowed because it was by crapcom. Well back in those days it was still capcom.

To anyone bitching about some of these games being too "mainstream" for this list, keep in mind that some of these franchises are better known for being in other consoles and is the fact that they were ported to the psone that is not that well known (GTA for PC, MvsC and Captain Commando for arcades, etc)

Im looking for a particular game thar I played back when I was a child. It was like a mini war game, in turns, kinna strategy fight between robot, like tanks and ships, all in an almost isometric arena. It was for turns, you got to build them and let them going through the arena. I though it was robots in blue and red color team. If you can help me and know the name you would make me very happy.
