    The game was decided in the first 5 minutes. Baylor dominated for 40 minutes.

      No doubt....when you get down 9-0 off the bat, your opponent has more offensive boards than you do total at the half, and you never smell a lead the entire game.....yeah, it's a wrap.

      Baylor was the only team in the country with a defense good enough to slow down Gonzaga’s all time great offense. Coming from a Zag fan Baylor earned this win. Baylor honestly has the best defense that any college basketball team has had in the last decade

    Gonzaga wins every regular season game by 20 points. Then they get into the tournament and start playing real teams. Games get closer, and they eventually lose. Happens every time. Baylor was just insane though, so much talent.

      This is what I was thinking. It's hard to simulate playing a team like Baylor. They try to schedule good out of conference teams and recruit very well but at the end of the day these big conference schools have twice the level of competition in conference.

      UCLA exposed the Zags. It should have been a Baylor/UCLA Title game. If it was we would have seen a MUCH Better title game. Baylor would have been to much for UCLA in the end. But UCLA are a well coached team playing much better teams in the regular season. Baylor are just another monster altogether. I'm glad they won. Makes my Villanova loss more bearable seeing they lost to the eventual Champions!

    When I saw Baylor put the clamps on Houston, I knew that either UCLA or Gonzaga was going to be in trouble.

      I think a lot of it was that tough game Gonzaga had the other night against UCLA. Gonzaga looked tired halfway through the first half. Baylor had a cake walk that day, and their game was over hours earlier.

      @@TulsaSooner1979 Oklahoma State's (as Oklahoma A&M) championships were back in the 40's when only 8 teams made the whole tourney, but you are right that the Big 12 has more than just Kansas, and was likely the overall 2nd deepest conference in the NCAA this year.

      The defensive pressure that Baylor applied one on one decided the game.
      When Gonzaga went zone in the first half I knew they weren’t coming back!
      Going zone asserts that you can’t guard anyone man to man.... and you’re hoping they start missing open shots and it never happened!

    Baylor did all the little things right. They came out high intensity. Cleaned the glass, ran the floor, hit their shots, and talked a lot of smack. They pretty much intimidated Gonzaga right out of the gate. Thanks for winning me my bracket 🐻

    I’m a Kansas fan and I’m glad Scott Drew got one (National Title). He’s an awesome dude and had an awesome team this past year. Glad to see a fellow conference opponent win a title for the entire conference. To all Baylor fans, congrats on a GREAT season and your going to have fun watching the NBA Draft this year, seeing where your (former) players land. Davion Mitchell is a lottery pick if you ask me... There’s no conference out there as tough and grueling as the Big 12 and those who would mention the ACC or Big 10.... there’s no Conference like the Big 12 where you get to play home AND away against EVERY team in the conference. Facts!!!

    Kansas Jayhawks & Baylor Bears LITERALLY both had their redemptions after 2020 NCAA Tournament was cancelled.
    Because they were by a decent margin the 2 best teams in country March 2020.

    Talk about dominance, Baylor won every single game this whole tournament by double digits except for one. They "only" won by 9 against Arkansas. All this hype around Gonzaga, yall realized Baylor was 17-0 before they went on a 3 week pause due to covid? And they played in a tougher conference. I've been saying it all year, Baylor is nasty.

      @Craig Carson Good, then their relative cakewalks in the WCC can come to an end. Let them start from the get-go with programs on their level. Being in the WCC has always given them an advantage many other programs don't have in highly competitive conferences.

    Baylor had All 3 Guards that are Agile, Explosive, Quick off the dribble that can create there own shot and get to the rim at will. Gonzaga struggled with containing or slowing them down.

      Rather, Gonzaga got exposed in the Final 4 game against UCLA, getting all they could handle from an eleven seed that barely made the tournament. Baylor played a perfect championship game defensively, effort wise, and while shooting lights out. Baylor would have bested anyone with that performance.

People forgot how good they were because they went on a month covid pause and had to get players back healthy and in shape.       Reminds me of 2008 KU, 2009 North Carolina, 2012 Kentucky, and 2018 Villanova. Teams you saw that were dominant year round, but you knew they were about to thoroughly dominate in the NCAA tournament. Although 2012 Kentucky and 2008 KU were the most dominant teams in the last 20 years that I've personally seen. For KU to beat Memphis's Derrick Rose and the dominant AF 2008 North Carolina to win the National title is amazing. 2012 Kentucky just wasnt fair, so good defensively that they didnt need shooters, that was their weakness. 2012 Kentucky had what 4 players go top 20 in the draft the following year? Baylor probably 5th behind 2018 Villanova.

      I'm so glad Gonzaga lost they play in a trash conference against trash competition and get a easy path to the NCAA tournament every season.
      Oh I'm so glad that Gonzaga lost not only did they lose they got demolished. Hay Mark few remember late in the USC game when you were up by 30 with like 3 minutes ago and you still had your starters in running up the score? how does it taste now.
      I Can't believe people really thought this team was some unbeatable Juggernaut. They were only were undefeated because they play in a garbage competition in the WCC. I'm surprised they even made it to the title game this team is not athletic at all and their slow.
      Gonzaga will never win a national championship and beating up on Pepperdine, LMU, Portland, Pacific, St Mary's, San Francisco, San Diego and any other trash teams in that conference doesn't mean anything.

    Reality check: playing in an easy conference doesn’t prepare you for big games like this. Baylor had tough competition the whole year in the big-12 and when the moment came they were ready to capture. Gonzaga expected an easy game because most games they played this season were easy. They look unprepared and out of sorts on defense.

    Congrats to the Baylor Bears on their first National championship, dominated from start to finish on both sides. I’m so happy for scott drew, he has established them as a true basketball force to be reckoned with. Mitchell and Butler future stars, Mitchell absolutely deserved DPOY. and the rest of their role players like Mayer the mullet, Vitale, Teague and T.T balled out. this has been one of my favorite college teams Ive ever watched.

    This year's current Zags team made one major adjustment: They hit the weight room. This Baylor team was just too strong for them. Plus they had two 23=year-olds on the team, including Mark Vital, who also plays football. No excuses though, Baylor was overall the superior team.

      It’s not that simple tho. To play defense at baylor’s level, you need insanely fast reaction time and impeccable hand-eye coordination. Every team tries to play lockdown defense, they just can’t do it as consistently as Baylor

      As a Zag fan I agree 100%. Baylor was truly the one team that could honestly beat the Zags even if the Zags were at their best. Tonight Baylor punched Gonzaga in the mouth early and the Zags seemed a bit fatigued and off because of that crazy UCLA game and never found a way to build momentum. Not that the UCLA game is an excuse you still got to show up for the national title game and Baylor played their best basketball and earned this win. Wish these teams could play a seven game series 😂

    I knew Baylor was gonna win the championship. Gonzaga always gets to the final four or the championship game and lose. They play in a weak conference so even though they have a good team, they don't play tough competition year round and they're not prepared to play the teams from the bigger conferences. They barely beat UCLA, so I predicted that they were gonna lose against Baylor.

    Been a Gonzaga fan for a long time. Hate to say it but I don't think they will ever win a championship out of the WCC. You can't spend 2 months blowing everyone out then come to the tournament and not get beat. Baylor played tough games in the Big 12 all year and were ready for tonight. Zags emptied the tank against UCLA and weren't.

      The problem is where do they go? the West Coast has one P5 conference the PAC12 and the state there in already has two schools that are members and that comes with its own politics...Maybe go to the MWC where you can get better mid major comp esp SDSU that plays a similar physical competitive style you see in the tourney.....Zaga fans gonna have to keep being patient, at least you guys are now attracting legit top tier 4-5 star talent consistently and getting favorable seeds....This years team was very good but the depth and size was suspect and it showed in both games, that '15 and '17 team where better imo....

      @@kgthoughts The Pac 12 or MWC is where I always thought they should go. I understand why they don't do it though and I also understand that the WCC doesn't want to lose them. But if they can't get that experience of playing from behind and having to compete hard for a full 40 minutes then they're always gonna have a hard time finishing in the tournament. Teams like Baylor play multiple tough games every week all season and are ready for it. It's a bummer because Few is such a good coach and they play such good fundamental basketball compared to the other top teams that experience I feel like is all they need.

      I agree. Gonzaga had played a couple of tough teams early on and beat them, but after that when it came to conference play they got comfortable. Baylor had a challenge every night in the Big 12 where they had to be on their A game every night. Zags wasn’t use to that kind of intensity Baylor brings every game. Baylor was the better team.

    Dear Zags,
    You play in a cupcake conference that is the WCC. Your non-conference wins were, more or less, not that remarkable if we take into consideration how the teams you defeated have faltered this season.
    Though the Big 12 isn't a powerhouse in basketball, Baylor does have elite talent and then some. Elite defense. Great perimeter shooting. Speed and athleticism. This was displayed tonight and you weren't use to such things.
    Let's face it, your perfect conference record wouldn't have been perfect if you played in a P5 (same thing with Baylor, but as I said they have elite talent on both offense and defense).

      As a fellow UTEP alum, I dream of what could have been had Gary Payton had come to UTEP. He wanted to be a Miner, but Haskins passed on him. They could have made a Final Four in the early 90s with Hardaway and The Glove in the backcourt.

    Baylor was clearly more physically prepared. Sheesh. They bullied Zag on defense and rebounding. Baylor was clearly more physical.

      It’s not as simple as saying baylor were a more physical team tho. To play defense at baylor’s level, you need insanely fast reaction time and impeccable hand-eye coordination. Every team tries to play lockdown defense, they just can’t do it as consistently as Baylor

      @@unbiascowboy1537 It would have been closer though, ucla plays better defense on the perimeter and shoots the 3 better, gonzaga was more of an inside out team which didn't work against baylor

      plus refs were really unfair against ucla and they had 4 of their starters on the bench for most of the first half when they could have pulled away with the game
