I dont understand why people are praising this video so much. Title of the video is "What is salesforce" and not "What is a product in IT industry". You have just explained service (custom s/w) vs product. Rather than explaining what is Salesforce. We know its product. Was expecting more on Salesforce rather than understanding what is difference between a custom software and product.
There is no comparison between Salesforce and SAP as one is the CRM and other is ERP, but if you are asking it from the career perspective then we would suggest you to choose Salesforce as more and more companies are adopting it and therefore the career opportunities is also very high compared to SAP.
Yes definitely you can.. As a beginner, the easiest path to learn would be to start with the Salesforce Administrator certification track. This would give you a foundational understanding of the platform and its core features and after this if you are interested in programming you can go with Salesforce development path otherwise you can choose Salesforce business analyst.

This summer Salesforce Functions is going into Beta and then live. This means you will be able to develop in Salesforce using Node.js. Otherwise you would have to either know Salesforce's proprietary languages or Web Components which are more standards based Javascript components. IMO If you know Node.js as you have the perfect opportunity to exploit Salesforce Functions. The massive benefit with Salesforce Functions is you will be able to access any of the 10000s of packages available to node.js to developer a lot more quickly than you can at the moment.
