- Oil Pan Gasket access and replacement on a 2012 Ford F150 FX4 with the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine. This process will apply to other year models as well with the same engine.
The truck in this video is 4 Wheel drive which means you must drop the front differential housing to create enough clearance to remove the oil pan.
Be very careful when removing the oil pan to avoid damaging the oil pickup tube.

2024 and getting ready to do this and watched several YTs on doing the pan gasket. This is the best and shortest, simplest and to the point. Thanks.
BTW, I am a retired Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
I just watched a 45 min install that didn’t do near as much as far as detailed info as u did in just a few mins. Very helpful and thanks!
Yeah, he did a good!
Way easier to understand everything with this explanation. Thank you!
Thank you mha man, you've just got yourself a brand new subscriber 🎉 pretty simple, good video and straight to the point.
Just finished this job. The hardest part for me was definitely lining up the differential to remove the bolts and even harder was lining it up to put everything back together. You need two jacks, one holding the dif and the other lifting the car on the right side while putting the passenger side bolt back into position. Make sure that first bolt goes in the middle of the slot or else it'll be impossible to line up the holes on the drivers side. After getting the first bolt on, I removed the jack from the right side and lifted the left side and jacked up the dif into place.
All tips are helpful, thanks.
@@jacklantern6339 Would be a lot easier if you have access to a lift for sure.
Your video is perfect. I have this job in my near future. Thank you!
Good video. To the point
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the Utube video!
You explained this to the T preciate it
Thank you. Very helpful
At 2:05 & also 2:45 to 3:00, about how long of an extension(s) is going to be needed (for the "upper front axle carrier mounting bushing bolt"). AKA the third bolt for the front diff. The one by the steering wheel shaft, that needs to be taken out from the front (from by the oil filter). Thanks...
Question ! on the two driver side bolts the first bolt we can not get out. Think it might be rusted trying WD40 rust but it does not move. Any suggestions ??? Thx Awesome video explaining
Do I need silicone for the corners or is just the oem gasket enough for the replacement
What is the typical cost for someone to do it?
If I have a 6" lift would I still have to unbolt the differential or should I be able to do it without unbolting it?
I'm doing mine tomorrow, what is the torque on the bolts? Any special procedures for replacing the gasket? Thanks.
It's a three stage process and there's also a pattern to follow to make sure force is applied evenly on the pan. It's more than I can type here. I suggest looking it up online and you will find the proper 3 stage sequence

Can you make another version of this without the annoying background music? Thanks!
i have a stock 2012 camaro rs and plan to do an engine swap to a l99. Where do i even start? (I know nothing about cars.)
would have been nice to see the leak before you took it apart.
I did show the leak. I pointed it out in the video. You will see the oil around the back of the oil pan gasket area and dripping from the bottom of the Bellhousing.
Do tool list for this job?
What gasket did you use?
How much this job should cost? I don’t want to try it out lol
Hard to give an exact price but it's about 3-4 hours labor so I'd say around $500 plus parts
I’m attempting this tomorrow :)
how come every time i look up this procedure it tells me to remove that crossbar, and I always have the ford that doesn't have that removal crossbar. wtf, i hate fords
