Congrats Dirk on a great Time. Dogs are amazing and their capabilities. Good dogs are priceless, sorry of time and money and care. Definitely in my bucket list to get a big ol Tom!
Congrats Dirk! 160 lbs is a stud of a lion! I love listening to an epert lion hunter like Bradley talk about the habits of these big cats. Such a secretive critter that makes a living killing on its own. Great video!
Congratulations Dirk! That's an adrenaline rush for sure, great shooting. Looking forward to hearing about your favorite dish, BBQ pulled sandwiches are tasty in my book. :-)
@eddiemunster8634 why are you here? Murder? That only applies to humans...Wildlife Management is what saves species, AND hunters pay the bill for the most part. What have you done to insure theses great animals survive?
Congratulations on your big tom. I also have had that great experience of catching up with a big lion after days of tracking like that. The best part of it was with my daughter. You see, she is also a houndsman ( women ) as she calls it. She raises and hunts her own breed. Amazing dogs for sure. Pet can pick up a three day old track in the snow and have him treed before noon. Good job Dirk.
watching from down here in New Zealand..awesome hunt…we don’t have mountain lions…i can understand your hunting philosophy down to the tee…i can also relate to your attachment to your dogs…i’m a dog lover myself..not too big on people..if i lost all my material possessions as long as i still had my dogs i’d feel whole..God Bless you and your family bro!
Who sings that song at 13min please let me know it hits home I hunt alone 90% of the time! Amazing hunt congrats on that amazing Tom great last hunt for the big cats!
The old telemetry collars just aren’t as reliable to track the dogs. Especially with wolves around these days, the houndsman keeps very close tabs on the dogs
Watching those dogs do their thing is so cool. Hope you did a soft mount so it can ride around in the car with you like Ricky Bobby did when he got his ballzz back. Congrats!
Wow, that is an apex predator no doubt. Those things are so intimidating. The one encounter I have had with lions was riding a dirt bike, I came around a corner and a female and two year and a half old young with her, they stooped down in the middle of the trail at 10 yards and sat there staring me down. I revved the bike up at them, they didn't flinch, just looked me over and walked away real slow.....They had an eerie, hair raising confidence about them.
I lost both my parents in 2015 and all I have left is my animals, two blue heelers that are THE most important thing in my life!! I will be forever sad when they move on in the universe, one is getting pretty old, he’s the best boy ever, I cherish his every existence. So with all that said, I truly understand the loss of Rose, dogs are amazing friends and are our best loyal friends ever!! Best of luck in life!! 👍👍
Ran into several in Idaho of regular lions but once on a trail I came across a truly large one. When you come across a truly large one the head is huge.
What a ride Bro! You guys just saved the lives of more deer killed in 1 year with taking that long tail than the Eagle Caps Wilderness has in the whole area (Thanks to the predator problem like lions, wolves and bears) But! wow, congrats on a beautiful animal my friend, tough conditions, but worth the effort. 👍
A great dog in any venue is an incredible thing to see in action: - whether a livestock, hunting - or - LE dog some are absolutely mindblowingly intelligent & courageous...! CASE IN POINT WAS ~ Seeing a 3 legged Heeler take down a 2,000 renegade bull that was endangering local peopled was eye opening; in seeing him herd that bull nto his stall & trembling = as that dog sat 4ft away watching as the 5 armed farmers(shotguns+rifles) made it back to the barn who were ready to shoot that bull a 1/4 mile out in a neighboring pasture...!
Actually, the arrow was so quiet, swift and sharp, the cat didn't really know what happened. He felt a bite and knew something wasn't quite right, and expired within seconds of the second shot.
I guess he doesn't really feel the need to kill another for himself, but wants to continue managing predators by taking others hunting to fulfill their dreams. Hunting guides are often like that. They find more enjoyment in sharing a harvest as a special gift to another person :)
Great hunting story. Really enjoyed listening to Bradley talk about his dog's was pretty awesome insight. Can't lie hearing the Christmas Day passing of his dog w/ the family all gathered around touched a cord. Ppl who say it's unfair an inhumane to hunt cougars w/ dog's needs to hear this man talk about his pack. If that's inhumane, then I guess I don't understand the meaning of the word. Well done doc.
Awful shot?🤦🏻♂️ Both shots entered his chest low and exited high, destroying the lungs. He was dead in seconds. Arguably perfect shot placement. You might want to watch that part again
Awesome video congratulations to all involved. Great job Dirk
Congrats Dirk on a great Time. Dogs are amazing and their capabilities. Good dogs are priceless, sorry of time and money and care. Definitely in my bucket list to get a big ol Tom!

Great video and hunt thanks for sharing very enjoyable too watch lance
Awesome. Great cat! CONGRATS Dirk!
What an amazing hunt!! I could feel the intensity during the harvest; and the respect towards the cat was very well shown. Congratulations
Yeah, harvest, sounds very innocuous, why don't you call what it really is? A mindless needless murder
@eddiemunster8634 why are you here? Murder? That only applies to humans...Wildlife Management is what saves species, AND hunters pay the bill for the most part. What have you done to insure theses great animals survive?
Heck yeah! Congrats guys
Awesome what an adventure, congrats

Great video! Those guys are some true houndsman
Just hunted with Bradley this week. This hunt looks awesome!
Bradley is a great guy! Can’t wait to hunt with him again
Man this was an exciting hunt to watch. Especially when you draw back
Awesome I have had 2 come in while elk hunting killed 1 at full charge arrow through the throat, only 118 pounds 6ft 11 in
Awesome! One of my dreams to do! I have eaten cougar before and it's sooo good! You ground yours..what did you do with it after grinding?
Made sausage out of most of it. Make steaks out of the back straps. Really really delicious!
@THEBUGLER that sounds really good! A friend of mine canned the meat with some Buffalo sauce and called it cougar wings...delicious!
For me, watching a great dog work whether it’s a hound in pursuit or a bird dog working it’s 99% of the hunt. Beautiful long tail Dirk!
Couldn't agree more!
@Phelps Game Calls I would love to be there hunting with you guys u know how to get it done great dogs
I first experienced this with rabbits it is awesome
its* 99%
Fantastic video and hunt Dirk!!! Truly enjoyed every minute of it. Really showed the ins and outs of it so we can appreciate it!
Need to do a Cook & Consume video on this.... What do they taste like ???
It’s amazing! Made breakfast sausage and bite sized steaks.
Congrats Dirk. Just found out my job is taking me to Idaho to live and work.
🙌🏼
@@THEBUGLERBRAND It's going to be a change for this Hoosier Kentuckian, hunted there before a few times, but I'll try and figure it out. 🙂
Damn that cat ate 2 arrows and was able to run that far. Damn. Good job dirk
First time on your channel. Great cinematography and suspense!
Thank you!
Great video.
Fine look n hounds. I ran coons for years with Walkers and Plotts. I loved a good chase.
Who sings that song at 13min please let me know it hits home I hunt alone 90% of the time!

@@PhelpsGameCalls nice thank you appreciate it!
Great hunt and video.
awesome!
That's a great cat Dirk! That one won't be killing elk and deer anymore.
Tough but FANTASTIC hunt 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼 great video and VERY well put together!
what kind of dogs do you have /use for these hunts?
There were a mix of Plotts and Mathis hounds.
Most excellent hunt!
Pretty happy to be able to call bradley my friend. Best damn hunter i know!
Yes he is!
T totally awesome hunt!!
Congratulations on your harvest 💪 great job done by all now let's eat!!
Rhubarb! Definitely can tell you grew up in a Idaho logging town.
😎
Why use a bow if you're going to use all the GPS tech and stuff? Just wondering. Isn't the point of a bow to do it in the old ways?
Brother,,did that stuff for over 40, yr's,, ))Your A Real Hound Man,, 👍🙏🦊
Are the bells to detour the wolves ? Just curious
No, the bells signal the houndsmen to the dog's location if the dog isn't barking, their GPS collars stop working, and they are in close proximity.
Great lion.. look like the dam dog chewed the hide up at the end .. haha
That's the dogs reward for there work.
Good hunt, I love the close up on the cat
What did you shoot it with what caliber
BOW AND ARROW
Was it any good eating ?
It’s amazing!
Why 2 gps collars? Why not telemetry for backup instead??
The old telemetry collars just aren’t as reliable to track the dogs. Especially with wolves around these days, the houndsman keeps very close tabs on the dogs
One of the coolest experience’s to hunt with hounds. 👍🏽
*experiences
The three legged dog is something else man. All heart loves to hunt. So cool men
Awesome job and congrats, hunting with hounds is a great sport and in our family we have 4 generations. Always carry a chainsaw.
Great video and hunt that’s for sharing very enjoyable too watch

What is the name of this outfitters please? I am interested!
Google- "Idaho Whitetail Guides"
Watching those dogs do their thing is so cool. Hope you did a soft mount so it can ride around in the car with you like Ricky Bobby did when he got his ballzz back. Congrats!
😂😂😂
You the man
I like this shit a lot man!
Respect !

Good job buddy, that 3 legged dog, what a deal, he made my heart very happy when he was under the cat at the tree- :)
Mine too! He's a stud!
Ran into several in Idaho of regular lions but once on a trail I came across a truly large one. When you come across a truly large one the head is huge.
Thats one big cat

Thanks compadre! I sure wish Oregon’s DFW would get lion hunting seasons with dogs again.
Losing a dog is very hard! I know what that’s like. Your dog is like a very huge part of your family.
“He looks beautiful “ just so that i am clear and not nieve. Are we killing him bc he is threatening livestock , or we eating him? Or what?
Hunters manage the populations of predators so they do not have a negative impact on the rest of the game animals out there, as well as livestock.
A great dog in any venue is an incredible thing to see in action:

I like this guy already! Leave them females alone!
That dog desperately chewing/biting on that lion shows just how much it hates lions.
right on ! life is great > cougar steak
I have a brindle female Plotts. Love that girl to death. She's strong as hell and smart as can be. Absolutely fantastic dogs!!
THECOUGLER
😂
Seems cruel too shoot him with arrows. He died fairly quick, at least it looked that way. Merry Christmas all.
Actually, the arrow was so quiet, swift and sharp, the cat didn't really know what happened. He felt a bite and knew something wasn't quite right, and expired within seconds of the second shot.
Do you possum hunt ?
No there are no possum in this area we hunted
Why the fuck people killing those big cat!!
That is definitely a elk killing machine. Great cat and cool story behind it. Nice shooting Dirk.
Thanks Ed!
an* elk
They eat good Mountain goat then Lion
Ok, i heard it were protecting livestock.
I don’t understand u say u won’t kill a cat but u help others too. Why won’t u ever shoot a Thor one?
I guess he doesn't really feel the need to kill another for himself, but wants to continue managing predators by taking others hunting to fulfill their dreams. Hunting guides are often like that. They find more enjoyment in sharing a harvest as a special gift to another person :)
@@PhelpsGameCalls maybe under tight guidelines from outfitter but personally I would have not hesitated to shoot that cat. And u should also!

Sorry…..not for me. To each their own.
