I'm glad y'all showed the lows, frustrations and sadness. True emotions of a hunter and the respect of the animal that true hunters have. This should be shown more often so that non-hunters can see we are human and have compassion; not just blood thirsty monsters.

You did the best you could, sometimes our best isn't so good! Then reached toward heaven for that extra help, the Lord loves when we rely on Him! That's real hunting, great video!
The broken down truck is the story of my life. Every year when I go elk hunting something happens to my truck. Ive had alternator go out. Fuel line freeze. Truck just not start. These are all different years too. Ive broken drive lines. But yet every year i strap my boots on and go. Nothing else I would rather be doing. Also why I watch these videos when I am getting ready for the next season. Thank you for making them.
This a GREAT VIDEO and you are a very skilled elk hunter. All you can do is learn from that shot on that bull. But you got him and it was a nice bull. Glad to see you still gave him time to expire. A lot of hunters would have walked off and looked for another bull to shoot which is not a good thing. Don't be so hard on yourself for that shot. You gave it your all and recovered that bull. We love watching your channel and wish you the best in your hunting adventures in the future.
This is a really good video Donnie. I'm going to have my daughter watch it. I'm disabled now, but she goes bow hunting in the Colorado Rockies. Watching this reminded me of all those miles me and you walked in high school before we got cars. Those were some good times.
Like I keep saying. You guys are th best. If you have bad luck you take it with a grain of salt n keep doing your best. Great video guys. Thanks again.
GREAT video showing the reality of elk hunting. I especially enjoyed the note stating how you guys bugle too much...I'd love to see the kill % over a 10 year span of that hunter vs. you guys :) LOL
I think most of us made a bad shot. It also drive's to be better the next time. Can relate to the break down, lost the starter in my truck last year 70 miles to the closest one that fit.
I've met so many hunters who don't bugle because they haven't heard the Elk bugling... I do it anyways, you won't scare them off no matter how bad it might sound. Get them fired up...they will either answer of come in silently.
It’s almost unfair to the elk when Corey Jacobson and Dirk Durham, hunt together. Donnie (Stud Duck) Drake. You the man. Way to keep the batteries charged. The long walks out car be the worst.
I didnt think it was that bad of a shot. It was a few inches back but it was still in the Good half, (In front of the diaphragm). It was centered and from the video it looked like you still hit lung. Btw where are you hunting?
What do you guys think about crossbows? I hurt my right shoulder and I can't Bo hunt anymore my friends always tell me that an ethical and it's not really bowhunting what's your take on it
I agree with note way too much bugling logic says it's the rut if you we're an elk would you go look for a fight? or would u want a sweet cow you possibly could breed. i pack a bugle in the woods when I hunt, but I rarely use it you'd be surprised how much better it will be if you use cow calls more. :) nice video though
Love using cow calls, unfortunately some of the herd bulls wont respond that well to them because they already have a herd of their own. When I started challenging herd bulls with a bugle, he isn't looking for a fight, he is protecting the cows he has. Cow calls work great for satellite bulls. That is just my thoughts. Everyone has their own methods.
Tom Schneider yes true. But you have to be pretty close for a challenge bugle to work. Otherwise the bull will just keep moving away from you to protect his cows. But everything can change from day to day. No method is a sure thing.
Imagine being the guy that told two of the world's best Elk callers that they bugle too much lol. Knee slapper
VICSKIM949 ... Yes, not only the best callers in the world, but dang good elk hunters. There's nobody I would rather hunt with than these guys!!
Haha right?!?! I have laughed hard twice at the thought of someone telling Corey and dirk that they bugle too much.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Pretty hilarious
Probably out of staters from Utah
The guy that left the note is probably some self inflated old doucher that thinks he knows everything and sits over a giant salt lick.

Yea I'm a disabled veteran. Watching videos like this really brightens my day.

Goes to show”The True Hunting” spirit. The “wows” & the “Ows”. Good job guys. Thank you
Ok, I watched this 7 years ago, but sometimes you just have to go back and watch again..
Awesome video! You and Newberg are good stewards for our sport. Thanks for posting.
scratch sport and insert lifestyle. cheers
Having a jump box is a good investment, it's got me out of the woods once.
I like the fact that someone is telling two world champion elk callers that they bugle way too much

Had to come back a watch this one tonight. Absolutely love this hunt!!!
Wish I could say that I DIDN'T know what this whole scenario is like... Welcom to elk hunting!
This is good! Staying positive is part of the key. Good video and thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work guys.
the guy walking at the end.... I'm just trying to stay positive, that's a battery joke. i lol so hard at that.
.

I think I’ve watched this hunt 3 times. I’ll probably watch it 30 more. It only takes one!
Great video. Music marries up perfectly with the tone. Great bull and thanks Elk101 for keeping it real.
God bless you for showing the real side of bowhunting!

Great musical score Corey. Love this film, Wyoming, and Palimpsest. Quality films. Keep up the good work.
Great video, great music.
It was short but there was no fluff jammed in there just to fill up time.
Good job on the bull!
great achievements are often overlooked .it is the mistakes that we all make to be great in the first place .good job!
You guys are awesome. I love how even the camera man lets out a sigh after all of the adrenaline.
great job hunting ,great bull ,nothing comes easy on some hunts.
Great video. I wish all my "lows" ended with a bull like that!
Nice shot buddy 👍 love you.

That's real hunting adventure...all of the travail, and all!
Unbelievably well done video production. Congratulations on your bull.
great achievements are often overlooked .it is the mistakes that we make that make use great in the first place
LOL at that start. you should get one of those small jump boxes. Great vid!
Just awesome .

Congrats on a really nice bull.Enjoyed the hunt.
Did you guys open those tenzing packs on the way to the trailhead :) They look like "book bags"
Great video guys!!
Well done video best I've seen in awhile!
awesome job
Corey I’m curious if you remember why you didn’t try and stop the bull?
How far was the shot? Why did you think you missed? Where was he hit? Did you hit him with the second shot and what yardage?
Nice video!! Great Hunt good job!!
A $10 quick disconnect on the negative post will save you some of them dead battery issues....
Putting the battery in direct sunlight might help get it recharge enough for a few cranks .. a few hours is all it takes ...
Maybe he was on to something...just a thought. If the elk weren't bugling then why would you bugle a lot? Serious question not being critical.
Great job love the video
lmao that note is hilarious.

Great video good job
People on here trying to Defend the Note 😂. What was the end result again?
Lol I was like where was Donni ahha poor dude. Least next time he won't have to walk he did his time!
bugling is the secret to elk calling!!
Battery joke hahaha, that's great
Great Footage

It’s a Ford right…. 😂 my buddy had the same thing with his. ✌️
Beautiful area
glad you found the bull..
Proof positive how intelligent the note leaver was it should be "way too much". Actually surprised it was not written ... ok printed ... in crayon.
Corey are you using Solid broadheads? Nice video. Thanks
what scares you about walking alone?
yea you bugle way too much. That why you got an elk and the person who left the note most likely blamed you for not filling his tag.
where did you hit the bull?
Nice Video
Alaska fishing kenia river
It look like you're Arrow was in his antlers
Thank God he didn't do the bro cry....I hate the bro cry
And meat gets packed out before antlers.
thanks awesome
Sweet
I couldn't agree with the note more! No offense I know you're trying to locate elk

Watch the Born and Raised Outdoors guys; they Bugle non-stop and kill a shit pile of elk...
Also keep in mind they are the best callers in the world.
😂
Stop that Bull!
Very poor shot quartered to like that you have to be set up left or right for a broadside shot. He was set up for the bull to walk straight on at him.
I hate note-leavers - no way to retaliate or show them nust how wrong they are
*Too* much ;)
Ok he missed it happens so let's cry
Best elk hunters in the "world". ??? Take care of your truck, shoot your bow, keep positive. Crappy music and a sobb story.
