Seriously, is it just me or does this remind me of the Redbirds? I just said it because the propulsion of the R62s sound really similar to the Redbirds, and I feel like what’s once my childhood has been recreated lol
W.L. Customs The Redbird are my favorite subway cars of New York City. Do you notice the wheels on the R62 subways cars and the Redbirds?? They look the same.
W.L. Customs The only difference between the Redbirds and the R62 trains is that they are made by different rail companies. The Redbirds R26, R28, and R29 were built by the St. Louis Car Company and the R62 were built by Kawasaki. The R62A trains were built by Bombardier.
If the 1 train runs on a R62 during rush hours, could it be possible the 2 can run on an R62 set or the 2 and 3 use an R62A set during rush hours too??
Can this happen? Well no R142 set on the 3 because of the 145 Street station, but the new South Ferry is no longer a problem, they could use R142's on the 1 train with no problem during rush hours. The 3 train I bet but it will skip 145th Street and plus, instead of a 2 train to New Lots Avenue, a R142 3 train to New Lots Avenue instead...
Maybe in the future we will have a 13 train, here is the route (Starts off at South Ferry (1,R,W) -goes express to chambers st ( 1,2,3) (Next stop is 14 Street) (Next Stop is 34 Street, Penn Station) (Next Stop is Times Square, 42 Street) (Next stop is 72 Street) (Next stop is 96 Street (Late nights to 96 Street) (Next Stop is CPN-110 Street) -goes on the central park tracks to 125 street and Lexington Avenue (Next stop is 3 Av-138 Street) (Next stop is Hunts Point Av) (Next Stop is Parkchester) (Last stop: Pelham Bay Park) The 13 will replace the 6X in the future, possibly in 2033 or 2034 It will run via: 7th Avenue Express Pelham Express Thats the 13 train route (Weekends to 149 Street-GC via 7th Avenue Local) (Late Nights to 96 Street) Fleet: R62s and R62As And that's the description of the 13 train (Fictional)
I think if Lexington Avenue gets CBTC before the R262s come in, then the R62As from the 6 will be swapped over to the 2. The R142s from the 2 would then go to the 4 and 6. The 6 would probably get all the R142As with the rest of the fleet being R142s, and the 4 would run only R142s.
Nah. Just wait for the R262s to arrive cause you cannot treat the (2) and (5) like they are two separate subway lines for car assignment discussions? Yes they really are two separate lines in the public timetables, but they must be considered together for car assignments because the cars they have (410 for each of the two lines) are shared with each other. And they run identical routes in Bronx and Brooklyn Also, do you take the (2) and (5) south of Franklin Avenue on a daily basis to get to/from somewhere important? If you do, then there is many reasons why the (2) / (5) need to be all NTTs, and it’s because they have to quickly switch the signs at Flatbush Avenue. Put R62/As on either line and you just screwed up the operations and created delays on the entire (2)(3)(4) and (5) lines.
jonathan chan They just wanted to implement the normal protocol for these service changes, just without Clark Street in ops. However, I’m not sure if they had a shuttle operating between East 180th and Dyre operating as well, despite the lowered number of train crews.
