Before the R142s, the 2 used Redbirds and, for a shorter time, the R110As. The 3, on the other hand, used the R62As until the 4 was done with the R62s.
@@quanthebronxny3996 I've never lived in New York, but have been there many, many times and know the subway system very well. I'm a huge subway buff and longtime Met fan. I still remember the '69 Miracle Mes.
If you've ever seen the movie "World Trade Center", starring Nicolas Cage and Michael Peña from 2006,you'll see an R62 running as a (2) train in the opening montage
I haven't been on that type of 2 train in a wow I also remember them being red however that's the train I grew up on but at the same time why they didn't show the bronx for example Wakefield 241 Street what's up with that
Yes there were, since I've caught this during a time it happened before this and they ran R142s still. Same logic applies to the 6 to Grand Concourse which still used some R62As on the Lexington Avenue line.
@KevinN Nkansah I'm still waiting to see the R62as from the Broadway line or Pelham line as well I had road the R62a back in the 90s on the 5 line that s came from the Pelham line it ran to Dyer Avenue Flat bush Avenue Brooklyn
@@BenTheMiner That i do know that one because the 2/5 trains don't need no R62as you have enough r142s they share the same equipment s Now I could definitely see the R62as on the Jerome avenue line
Great Video !!!!!! ...... How Come All The Trash And Whatever Else Debris On The Tracks Never Catch Fire From All The Electricity From The Third Rail ??? ... Thank You For Posting!
Actually, there's a chance it does. I believe that's the reason why littering can cause track fires. Most of the time, the debris is on the actual track and away from the third rail.
As a passenger and as a transit worker, I've never seen R62 on the Deuce. They went from Redbirds to R142s. This is trippy!😂
Awesome! I've always been a fan of the R62 's. Nice to see them in general, let alone on the (2)
Man I Love Watching DJ Hammers Trains
1896-1900 was one of the last few sets to get the LED lighting
Still puzzles me that the r68s or 68As dont have LEDs but some r46s do lol another L for the mta

Ah I remember the old announcement
@@lawfrmtheave This reminds me of the old Redbirds on the (2) and (5) lines.
Ive never seen the 2 use the R62 cars this is very rare and also nice video.
back (2) back train action. nice dj hammers
Glad I can help lend some vids
Trains ran between 96 Street and South Ferry? Wow!!
That’s weird. Trains were going to Flatbush Avenue.
@@TheRailLeaguer I went by the description!
@@Bklynkid52 okay.
Very rare but nice cool video. An R62 2 train? Very rare as far as I can remember the 2 train has the R142

It is in fact VERY unusual to see these cars on the 2. Back in the day, you saw nothing but Redbirds on the 2.

Were there still any R142 2 trains on those weekends? If subway service stops during the night then no R142s could be accessed.
Yes there were, since I've caught this during a time it happened before this and they ran R142s still. Same logic applies to the 6 to Grand Concourse which still used some R62As on the Lexington Avenue line.
There Were 3-4 Sets Of R142 (2)s The Time This Event Happened, Weird To See The Everyday Sets Go Down To Less.
Did they send them to the Bronx? I've never seen an in service R62 on the White Plains Road line.
They didn’t run in service to the Bronx.
