That last pan around in the kitchen gave me hives. I’m always surprised that people will willingly give up a good quality life for the city. I moved from chicago into the suburbs, and I could never imagine going back to the city.
In the state of Georgia they could get their parental rights taken away for having that many children in such a small space with out bedrooms. CP could be called and the children removed.

So $560,000 STUDIO for 6 people?!🤔😰....i did some research - when you can get a place, lets say in Queens or even in New Jersey a 2 or 3bed/1.5 or 2 bth. condo, house or townhouse for much less than $560,000 with a backyard fenced in for 4 kids to play and SPACE, don't forget space. You can rent out that studio easily. I would go ape shit in 480 sq. ft with 6 people when its not necessary to be in that position...i could understand if you're destitute and unable to make ends meet and you have no choice to live like this but its not the case. But if they truly wanted to stay in Manhattan i would look for a 1 bedroom..put all 4 kids in the 1 bedroom and husband/wife have a Murphy bed installed in the living room....like they have in the studio.

Mrs. FancyFitz what they didn’t tell you in this video is that at the time this was filmed, we were in the beginning of an overdue renovation, and we had issues with the contractor. The reason it was messy is that we had to take out our things from the old cabinets, to make room for new storage units. Max sleeping by the door was a temporary solution until we had his room built on lofts(yes we have more loft space now). Another reason the apartment was so expensive is we have a 24 hour doormen crew. It’s a very fancy building and that was the only apartment on the roof that many people wanted. There is a lot of skylight.
New York is one of the most expensive places to live in. I'd say if you're not making six figures a year you won't be able to afford a spacious apartment in New York.

No I don't agree in this case. They obviously have roots in Manhattan( school, family & friends) and it's easier said then done to say" Just leave everything you and your kids know to move somewhere you don't because it's more affordable".
It’s my opinion. I personally don’t feel comfortable having that little space for my children and I. Moving doesn’t mean across the US you can remain in the same borough if need be or in nyc but in a larger space that accommodates family size. That’s my opinion and I respect yours

Almost every one in NYC rents an apartment they dont own a house with a spacious back yard with alleys to store your garbage cans it's big city culture prolly never change ...even if u won a million u rent a place n have a landlord!

We shouldn't judge. They seem happy. The place isn't filthy as far as we can tell the kdis are healthy and well adjusted. I am not very neat but then I have over 1800 sq feet for one person. I do personally find it too small for six especially as the kids get older. I wonder if a redesign could do something ie. in Vancouver i saw a father design a three layer full size bunk bed with drapes for each child's privacy with storag under the bed of course. The baby could have a crib on top of 4 large drawers for storage. They could have mobile walls housing the parents bed and kitchen? Have the kids on the floor and the parents in the loft? An entire wall can be for storage even if shallow. The private terrace can have a couple of outdoor lockable lockers or boxes for storage. Hooks, pegboard can be used for school bags, sports equipment, outer wear and a sliding door or curtain if they want Ideally 3 kids in one loft; parent sin the other with the baby or the baby underneath. Some seating with storage I would be tempted to different textures of white - glass, flat textured sliding doors, resin, crinkle finishes, sparkly white finishes - a variety and then warm place up with plants and accent color like turquoise or teal or orange. Finding a place for a bin for reach person is important too. Use that vertical space.

I’m from HK. Even this is too cramped for a family of 6 imo. I grew up in a similarly sized apartment in HK with just me and my parents. I can’t imagine having THREE more siblings in the same tiny apartment.

I see a loving happy family with children that are fed, clothed, cared for, and seem very well-rounded. They even have a pet. These folks have EVERYTHING they need and more than most. Obviously they love that place. If they're able to save money and build their wealth, awesome. If not, they need to move. So many people spend every penny to live no matter where they live and have nothing left over to save. Lots of Americans instead of being truly frugal are trying to keep up with the Joneses or at least not look bad. Living in the Philippine countryside, I've learned so much from the Filipinos about being frugal that I would never again live in a US major city, especially NYC, unless I was rich. Being truly frugal isn't about getting everything cheaper as much as it is buying (mostly) only necessities, getting 'the very cheapest' price possible, and putting the savings in the bank as well as investing it. To be frugal and not be getting rich as a result of cutting back is not being frugal enough. That's why this studio setup is failing to impress me. It still seems very expensive instead of finding the cheapest possible housing. Nothing was said about the property taxes, HOA fees, etc., so really difficult to know what they're spending to live there. I like that they're using space wisely, but with that level of discipline, they could surely be saving a lot more and building their wealth faster in less expensive housing.
This is called being cheap. If the husband is the sole provider of the house then he has a good enough income to go a nicer apartment with more space or a house. This reminds me of my childhood slightly. But that’s because my mom was low income and we could not afford to move anywhere. Stuff like this irks the hell outta me lol

I could see maybe having 2 adults and 2 kids in this size, but that's it. They will be teens one day and want some of their own space. I'd have gone mad living like that and I live in a small space, BUT I only had 1 child so I can make it work. She has 4, kind of makes it more difficult. They need at least a 2 bedroom.

We shouldn't judge. They seem happy. The place isn't filthy as far as we can tell the kdis are healthy and well adjusted. I am not very neat but then I have over 1800 sq feet for one person. I do personally find it too small for six especially as the kids get older. I wonder if a redesign could do something ie. in Vancouver i saw a father design a three layer full size bunk bed with drapes for each child's privacy with storag under the bed of course. The baby could have a crib on top of 4 large drawers for storage. They could have mobile walls housing the parents bed and kitchen? Have the kids on the floor and the parents in the loft? An entire wall can be for storage even if shallow. The private terrace can have a couple of outdoor lockable lockers or boxes for storage. Hooks, pegboard can be used for school bags, sports equipment, outer wear and a sliding door or curtain if they want Ideally 3 kids in one loft; parent sin the other with the baby or the baby underneath. Some seating with storage I would be tempted to different textures of white - glass, flat textured sliding doors, resin, crinkle finishes, sparkly white finishes - a variety and then warm place up with plants and accent color like turquoise or teal or orange. Finding a place for a bin for reach person is important too. Use that vertical space.

This apartment has so much space yet been wasted most if it .In Hong Kong a family of 6 often live in a flat with 3 bedroom just under 450 square foot comfortably.They really need to hire an interior designer and rearrange the space.This is more like a store room than a living space at the moment.Pity to see one of the child need to sleep on the floor at the entrance.
Those closet-sized rooms are a joke over there. China can afford to build on more land but control it because they can make more money selling to the highest bidder.

I'm not an engineer but I could see where improvements could be made, so the son doesn't have to sleep by the front door. I guess it's easy for parents to say they're happy but I'd like to hear from the 13 year old if they were happy with that space.

Good for them. They're happy, the children aren't malnourished, seem happy, have water, food, electric, a place to sleep, I'd call them blessed. Too much clutter and not enough space for me #claustrophobic, but they're healthy and seem happy. #respect

Sometimes I feel like ppl try to shame folks by putting stories like this on TV for others to judge. If that is the case, let me tell u what I see in this video. I see a loving happy family with children that are fed, clothed, cared for, and seem very well-rounded. They even have a pet. These folks have EVERYTHING they need and more than most. I'd have been a happy child growing up in this family, just sayin'.
Big difference between choosing live a certain way and not having a choice. I grew up in a smaller home with 6 people. We didn't have a choice. That was the culture so it wasn't something we were embarrassed about. I guess over here it is supposed to be a big deal.

Some folks just really enjoy tiny living. I remember watching a show which said 100 years ago most Americans lived in small homes with larger multi generational families but now the average is 1-4 people in 2400 sq feet. That's something else. I'm with you though. I would love to see an update.

I understand that not everyone has the means to buy a single family home with a yard, but if this family can afford 500 sq ft in Manhattan they could probably afford to live in a nicer house in NJ. My guess is the parents are trying to be edgy and cool, but they are doing it at the expense of their children... finally, that whole arrangement just screams fire hazard to me (little kid using the entry hallway to sleep, blocking the door, extra "bedrooms" made from wood etc)...

Obviously they love that place. If they're able to save money and build their wealth, awesome. If not, they need to move. So many people spend every penny to live no matter where they live and have nothing left over to save. Lots of Americans instead of being truly frugal are trying to keep up with the Joneses or at least not look bad. Living in the Philippine countryside, I've learned so much from the Filipinos about being frugal that I would never again live in a US major city, especially NYC, unless I was rich. Being truly frugal isn't about getting everything cheaper as much as it is buying (mostly) only necessities, getting 'the very cheapest' price possible, and putting the savings in the bank as well as investing it. To be frugal and not be getting rich as a result of cutting back is not being frugal enough. That's why this studio setup is failing to impress me. It still seems very expensive instead of finding the cheapest possible housing. Nothing was said about the property taxes, HOA fees, etc., so really difficult to know what they're spending to live there. I like that they're using space wisely, but with that level of discipline, they could surely be saving a lot more and building their wealth faster in less expensive housing.
This is called being cheap. If the husband is the sole provider of the house then he has a good enough income to go a nicer apartment with more space or a house. This reminds me of my childhood slightly. But that’s because my mom was low income and we could not afford to move anywhere. Stuff like this irks the hell outta me lol
