I felt like you were speaking directly to me in this video. I planned to get up at 4am for a two hour drive myself, but changed my mind at the last minute because of weather forecasts. I of course was kicking myself for the rest of the day, which is what I always do when I don’t go out.
Great video. It really is... ;-) Love that you use the kit lens. Just goes to show, that you don't need that super expensive piece of equipment to take great shots.
Going there tomorrow can't wait for it. Enjoyed my week in the Peak District will be a nice location for last day after all the hiking. Thanks for the video made me wanna go there even more.
@@ian_worth I haven't seen you but hopefully some other time. Around 1pm started raining and after an hour I had enough of it so just left and headed back home. The place is magical I'll definitely visit it again in the future.
Hi Ian Like the video and the shots. Absolutely agree that you choose a day over choosing weather. For so long I’d look at the weather and think it’s not suitable and wouldn’t go. Much better to go anyway!
Well said Ian.....what I need is a little Ian W sitting on my shoulder telling me I need to go when I just feel like turning over in bed and catching a few more Zzzzzs
Great advice on putting things off. Regretted my decision so many times by missing so many opportunities through bad choices. Need to be out there, you don’t get shots in front of tv at home.
You're right with the ahh I'll not bother this morning & then later on the regret kicks in knowing u'll have missed some great conditions.padley gorge is such a beautiful place for photography such beautiful colours in autumn.its a regular visit for me in all seasons just for the walk sometimes as well as the photography. I shall be up there in a few week when hopefully the colours will be at their best.you've probably heard of another place called wyming Brook Ian if you haven't check that out it's pretty similar to padley an ancient gorge & stunning in autumn. tfs. Andy.
Thanks Andrew, yes I've heard of wyming, haven't been there though, it does look similar, i'm trying to make the most of padley this autumn, maybe next year i will venture there 👍😀😀🙏
That's quite true. Even though the weather forecast is pretty reliable over here (particularly for the next 24 hours) it's a good idea to go out and shoot even if conditions might appear sub-optimal. Of course, if you want to capture the sunrise and it's a rainy day, I'd cancel that for the next time ;)
Yep, I do that all the time (In fact I did it this morning!). I have to remind myself that there have been very few occasions when I’ve actually regretted going out. Great point Ian, I will remind myself of this next time I think about not going out! This looks like a wonderful location, love the look of that old oak! Sam
Stunning images Ian in particular the second one. I'd be interested to see how you edited the photos in Lightroom as they have a very ethereal look to them.
Thanks for sharing Ian. Really enjoyed your video and for me the right choice of background music. I don’t live in the UK and was surprised to hear how unreliable the weather apps are. I know well though how unpredictable the weather is. What apps do you use? Subjective as photography is, I thought the waterfall was stunning but the Oak tree to my eye looked unbalanced and a little heavy on the rhs. In the comfort of my armchair I think I would have featured the tree a little closer to the centre such that the large Boulder could balance the image a little more. What are your thoughts? Thanks again for the vid. 😊
Thanks glyn, i use clear outside which is probably the most reliable. To the right hand side there was a break in the trees which was a little distracting, thats why i kept it to the side. Thanks for watching 👍😀🙏
Hi,Ian brilliant video, been to padley gorge once myself and took some of the many little waterfalls but wonder which trail is that first picture taken of the beech tree as it is very vast area.cheers.
Great video as usual.... what lens were you using for that first shot of that beautiful tree... I like the way you see shots before you push the shutter
Great blog Ian as always, thanks. Watched a Long Exposure vid of yours recently ...... I, like you, use Fuji Xt2 etc and my go to lens is the 16-80mm that his built in Ios (supposedly 6 stops) - I am confused does the IS need to be turned off in the cameras menus when doing LE, in particularly extreme LE ?
Hi Ian, here in South Devon I fear in a couple of weeks there will be no autumnal colour left. Storm Alec last Friday, it has been windy & wet on & off all week, so things don't look good. Some of the tree tops are already bear of leaves. I only wish we had some gorgeous woodland like Padley Gorge, but deciduous woodland is not prevalent in Devon.
Ian Worth Yes I have been once. It is a good 30-40 min walk. Very chaotic woodland & it really doesn’t work without mist & or fog.Neil Burrell lives here in Brixham & he is the master. He is releasing a book soon. Nigel Danson is doing a workshop with him in March.
Well done Ian. I went last Thursday and got some amazing water fall shoots myself.....have a great week end.
Nice one buddy, glad you did 🙏👍👍

Done it so many times too, Thanks for watching 👍😀🙏

So true! ive never had a problem using cheaper equipment if it does the job. The kit lens is a great example of that 👍👍😀
Great point mate. Get up and get out. Live every moment. Love that old Oak stump and looking forward to the picture you make from it one day.
Absolutely. Thanks for watching 👍😀🙏

I will be there today as well as I have a one to one, be sure to say hi if you see me lurking about in the trees 🌳 😉

Love it at padley only 30mins from me.

Have fun! Thanks for watching 👍😀🙏

Thanks buddy, its not really on the trail, more in the middle of the wood at the top end. 🙏🙏👍
Great video as usual.... what lens were you using for that first shot of that beautiful tree... I like the way you see shots before you push the shutter
Thanks Steve, it was the Fuji kit lens 18-55mm 😀👍👍
Ian Worth that’s my go to lens... amazing quality for a kit lens
Great blog Ian as always, thanks.

Hi Ray, I always turn IS off when the camera is locked down on a tripod 👍👍

Very true and you're welcome 😀😀👍
My mantra.......If you don't go, you'll never know!
