- I have not done a video on the best setting for the Sonos Sub Mini before and here it is! This is done with a Sonos Beam Gen 2 paired with the Sub Mini. It took me a long time to arrive at this set of settings. Hope it works as well for you as it does for me! Enjoy!

Great to hear! I now listen to dialogue with ease also even at volumes of about 25-30.
i think "best settings" might vary for different ears, but it's a good base to start tweaking rather than from 0. My setting was Bass +4, Treble +2, Sub -6. After watching this, now is Bass +1, Treble -1, Speech enhance ON, Sub - 5

Hi Peter, your guide is a good reference to start off. Just received Beam Gen 2 and Sub Mini yesterday. Put them in living/dining area. The centre clarity is good. I am impressed with the Mini. Watching Netflix movies with Dolby Atmos is really enjoyable.

Excellent overview Peter... in large part due to the resources that you provide, I opted to pick up the three pieces and I'm now process of experimenting with the settings. Shiok! 😁
On a related note: is anyone else using an Apple TV 4K 2022 with these components? While making some adjustments I switched between audio feeds and noticed that the ability to control the volume of the Beam and Atmos playback went completely off the rails after I tried to play a RUclips video. As a last resort, I power-cycled the Apple TV and everything seems to be ok once again. 🤞
Hi Peter, Good work as usual. I was a bit sceptical about how much difference there would be after altering the sub mini settings to your recommendations, but in your demo not only can you clearly see the improvements on the spectrogram readings, particularly in the treble range, you can clearly hear the difference even through my earbuds on this RUclips video.
I already own a sub mini which I have paired with my Era 300 for listening to music but I have ordered a Sonos Beam gen 2 to replace an old sound bar and I can’t wait to pair it with my sub mini and try your recommended settings to experience the sound in real time.
While testing out a certain system, maybe try all combinations ?
- Arc with Sub
- Arc with Sub Mini
- Arc with One Surrounds
- Arc with One surrounds and sub
- Arc with One surrounds and sub mini
Same for the beam.
I guess its a ton of work, but pretty sure it will keep getting more views as time goes on.

That is correct. I performed these settings and configuration with the Beam Gen 2, Sub mini and 2x ONE. Not the SLs, but they are sonically the same. Thanks for your support!
Great video but how do you get more bass when you've reduced the bass levels back a couple of notches ?? And also more treble when that's reduced as well ?

Hello, so I have a beam, mini-sub and (2) ones setup in my home theater and it sounds amazing playing anything through TV. My concern is when I wish to play stereo audio only for music. What is the best settings configuration that will let me achieve stereo through my rear ONES only/mostly?
For my rear sonos ones settings I have full selected instead of ambient. And music audio is maxed out all the way to the right. It sounds pretty good I think but kinda loud. Is the maxed all the way to the right forcing too many dbs in a type of brick walling sound or is it just maxing the potential of the (2) one speakers?

I use a Sonons Beam gen2 with 2 Symfonisk lamps (as surrounds) in a very small room (approx. 10 sqm). I have always struggled with too much bass in this room - still I am really drawn to buy the Sub Mini. Will I benefit from it at all? Can it take some burden from the Beams shoulders and make it sound even cleaner and clearer? Can I hope for more thick and lush male vocals?
Why would we ever do minus- anything? Don’t we want to feel the bass and sound? Sorry just confused. I just got my system I’m +4 bass, +6 treble, +4 sub. Loudness and speech enhancement on.
So confused why we’d be negative anything.
He’s trying to hit reference sound levels. Realistically what sounds best to your ears is what matters. His arc era300 sub gen 2 settings are spot on. He’s also requiring a 20% volume increase to compensate. So again it’s all dependent. Me personally I go with my ears.

Could you alter the description or add an overlay to explain whether your verbal description of the settings OR your text description of the settings ar right at the 2:00 mark? Jalal Hobbs and sbowesuk both have the same confusion and have lots of thumbs up as well.
Oh dear. What a mistake I made. Sorry about the confusion. Refer to the on-screen settings list in TEXT. That's the accurate one. I verbalise from there and said it wrong. Even the screen cap wasn't captured properly. So sorry about that!

I currently have Beam (Gen 1) + Era 100 (x2) for surrounds in my apartment living room (with high ceilings). I’m considering adding a Sub Mini to maximize the bass sound. I’m an avid music listener (more so than watching movies).

Yes. The sub mini is going to add a lot. If you really want better music, set up the beam on its own. Then use the era 100 in stereo with the sub mini, it will be great for music.

Hey man, I use the beam gen 2, later on added the picture frame speaker around 2 meters behind me for a better surround sound, yesterday I got the sub mini but I'm confused as to what the best settings for all of them together would be. I mainly use them for metal/rock music as I have it connected on my desktop pc so I'm standing right in front of it. Do you have any recommendations for me? "Sadly", I use android and so does every person in my circle so I can't calibrate the speakers with trueplay.

Yes, different phones/ipads return differing trueplay tunes. I did something like that as a test before but it's been a while. In recent years, I just use whatever phone I have because I have to redo Tuning so many times for my testing. :)
Hey Peter of topic. I have an LG CX and for some reason when I try to run Apple TV for Atmos on the Apple Music it say stereo pcm on the Sonos app. What’s up with that?

Hi Peter, looking at the graph at 0:36, Sono Sub Gen 3 frees up Beam a lot more than it does with the Sub Mini. Does that mean Beam + Sub Gen 3 is the better-sounding package than Beam + Sub Mini regardless of room size (say medium room)?

Living room, 30 square meters. 75 inch tv, watch distance about 4,5 meters from couch. Not a lot of furniture. We’ll also be listening to music so mixed usage. We’re not expert audiophiles and do not need to let the whole neighborhood hear us.
I currently have the beam gen 2 and am in doubt to sell it and buy the arc or keep it and buy sub mini, I’m living somewhere else now and will be moving in a few months so can’t compare (yet).
So my question and measurements is for my future set up
Hi Bastiaan, thanks for this! I would say that for your size of the room, you might not be happy with the Sub mini. It probably has a little too much air to push. Go for the Arc and then add the larger sub later. I do have a beam paired wit a 75" TV and it doesn't look proportionately sized. And you are going to be quite far from the TV at 4.5m so the longer the sound bar, the better the separation and soundstage.

Do I use uncompressed 5.1 or 7.1 for the beam gen 2 with a sub mini? Atmos has latency on series x

what is the cheapest way to run true play for Sonos? I have a ipod touch gen 7 with a IOS 12. can support 13 or 14 and Sonos web site says any ios over 8 will work yet they list the ipod gen 7 as not supported???

What does volume +20% mean? I dont see a volume option the settings.
You set it 0% higher than what you normally listen to, to properly set it.
A lot of reference to bedroom etc, I have my beam gen 2+sub mini+rear play 1’s in my living room. Which is on the smaller side, any changes you would recommend for this? As it’s where I watch movies.
I have the same question, when I apply this settings and I can’t hear any bass, I hear him when set at +5, also surround speakers I need to have +6 to hear anything. I listening most of the time on volume 15. My living room has around 20sq meters.

Just done this and now have a dialog issue, a buzz at dialog frequencies. I've since switched off true play, put EQ back to what it was and it still resonates. I've tried rebooting etc and it's still there.
Any ideas what I've done?

Looks like tru play killed my bass, so I assume after resetting we need to run true play again? Any special changes if you have a couple symfonisk bookshelves in the rear? Really helpful, thank you Peter.
There are some differences for the bookshelves as rear but keep these as baseline and tweak the bass just a tiny little bit if you find it not to your taste.

Mostly, yes. I would say there is a slight difference in bass and maybe you don't need to reduce the bass by -2 for Beam Gen 1.

We have the Beam gen 2 with surrounds.
At the moment I already worry about disturbing the neighbours during action scenes and usually turn the volume down.
I was planning on getting the sub mini, but I’m actually concerned that it will be too much given that I already fear the bass from the current setup might be heard next door (terraced housing in Ireland).
Do you think it would be too much for this environment?
I would think so, yes
@@bastiaanzeeman3922 I actually went ahead and purchased the sub mini. If set up correctly it actually does add to the "depth" of the sound stage and I have had no complaints from the neighbours. When the bass is too much on the odd occasion I just switch to night mode.

Have sonos removed the option to adjust the sub independant via app i no longer see sub sperate and cant adjust ?
