I picked one up, you're absolutely spot on with its ability to blast through anything. It's my first volume shifted board, got it for a steal, it carves like a champ, has waaaay more pop than I expected, and I regret nothing. You stated on a previous year's video not to sleep on it, that was stellar advice. I'm using my old B Mission bindings (way too soft, will upgrade in Oct.), and 32 TM2 double boas. To whom it may concern: these things get overlooked, overstocked, and therefore have deep, deep discounts in the fall.
Love this board for up here in Alaska! Such an under rated board and so much fun especially in pow.
I love my sashimi, very easy to jump from edge to edge and great float in pow. But definitely tricky in more tactical sections with that big nose
I agree, wish they had a 149/8. I have the 152 and I normally ride a shorter, more nimble deck. I'm 5'8"/170/size 10.
I rock the 160!! I love it!!
I demo'd the 2020 model and it is possibly my personal favorite pow board. Just felt right for me. I haven't purchased one though. Hmmmmm
Out of those comparable boards which one is the stiffest. I want the rocker nose and slight camber tail pow board.
Probably the new Stale Fish.
I had this board, and almost loved it. Slightly stiffer flex, awesome. Being able to plow through everything, super awesome. However, wish it had a bit more of a tail. If the insert packs were slightly a bit further up, or if the tail was wider. That would make it incredible. If I could put together the sashimi (front half) and combine it with the Solomon dancehaul (back half, wider), dang would that be an awesome board.
Rossignol Afterhours.
@@AngrySnowboarder Until they make those bigger, or at least wider, I can’t. 215 lbs and size 12 boot. But I did watch your video on that board and from what you talked about in the video, sounds like a good board, they should make those in mens sizes.
I’m looking for a powder, tree, surf/slasher to complete my 2 board quiver. I picked up a 156 Dynamo based on your review and answers to my questions. That thing absolutely rips, much appreciated on the guidance. Thoughts on the Sashimi vs Endeavor, Excavator, ME, Storm Chaser or other boards I should consider?
There’s a review on all of those.
@@AngrySnowboarder totally, and I watched them lol. Was just curious if one stood out for what I’m looking for. The sale on the Endeavor is enticing, but that Bataleon Surfer would be a dream.
I’ve had this board for a few years and love it. Been wanting to get on a ultra mind expander for a few years, but really intrigued now that it’s camber underfoot this year. You think there’s too much overlap between these boards or would it bring something new to the quiver?
Ultra Mind Expander has always been camber. It's going to be way stiffer than a Sashimi.
Hello Avran. Thinking of a Japow trip. I have an Algorhythm and Gremlin. Would this board work for Japan or is there too much overlap with any of the boards that i currently have? or do you recommend another board or would the Gremlin be good enough? Is there a Top 5 Japow board video coming?
This is the perfect middle ground between the two for that.
@@AngrySnowboarder thank you for the quick reply Avran
hey avran, i just picked up the 156 for low angle pow at mt bachelor. i’m 175 lbs and size 9 boots. should i return and switch to 152??
No, you'll want that length in the heavier snow.
How was the 156 with your weight? I'll probably be pushing 200lbs by next season and keen on the Sashimi split but it only comes in 156.
Anything split is going to be softer than the solid version
@@AngrySnowboarderThat's a good point, thanks.
Another great review Avran! I’m 155lbs, size 8.5 boot. What size Sashimi do you recommend?
53 or whatever it is that’s close.
Used to be reverse freeride flex?
My guess is this is more playful than the xv hence no reverse flex. I prefer reverse flex, it can be really helpful specially late season and out-bounds
The Rossi site and other retailers still call it a “reverse directional” that softens towards the tail.
Maybe the combo of massive rocker nose, and 50mm of taper… so it nose doesn’t feel as stiff as they claim.
@@holeblocker probably
I have the same question, maybe Avran can shed some of his glorious light on us
Had noticed the same.
Would you recommend this board for east coast riding, occasional shallow pow and tree riding or what other boards should I consider? For someone 210-220 lbs would you recommend 156 or 160. ? Thanks
I would totally recommend this, the serrated edges will help with that boiler plate you get and it's nimble for those tight trees. Get the 56.
For tree powder would recommend this board or the party wave + ??
This.
Hey Avran, Seeing a killer deal on the 2021 Sashimi right now. 152 length sound right for a 145 lbs, 5'10", size 9 boot rider? Planning on riding this in the heavy Tahoe snow.
Pick it up.
Hey why do you recommend the Union Strata for this? On Union's website they say its for park and jibbing, but I'm sure you know what you're talking about so there must be a reason. Thanks!
Because I can and it's a surfy based binding with a ton of lateral play which matches up to this board. Why do you question our recommendations?
Haha cuz I don’t know much myself and all I know is what I can read on their websites. Thanks for the quick response, totally makes sense what you’re saying with the surfy feel. If I wanted to use my sashimi to charge hard rather than be surfy would you still recommend the strata? Or something more free ride oriented
Go with something stiffer.
I've got one of these on the way and im really confused about how to setup my stance on it. there are 7 inserts on the front foot and 5 at the back. to stay centered do you start from the inner most inserts and work out or the other way around?
It's not designed to be centered.
Just bought a Sashimi 156 for my stepson. He's 6'2" 190lbs with a size 12 boot. He rides well but he's not a real hard charger. Was 156 the right choice? I can still return it.
Should be fine.
Hey Heisenberg, did your stepsons size 12 fit okay on the 156 Sashimi? They seem to have a lot of taper making very narrow tails.
@vanislandsurf He said it's good.
@@heisenberg1732 Thanks! Hope he enjoys it!!
This seems like the logical step up from the Instrument, is it?
If you’re going for a pow focused board that can rip a carve, then yes.
Looking for something to bring to japan next year. 6ft, 200lbs, 9.5 boot. I want a board that will float and be quick/slashy in the trees. Would a 156 have enough float for me?
Should if you keep your speed
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks. Torn between the sashimi, service dog, or the arbor single. They will all probably have similar float and nimbleness.
Service Dog is the softest of the three with the Single being a little stiffer in the nose than the Sashimi. Out of those three the Sashimi or Single would be the two I'd heavily consider and the Service Dog would only come into consideration if I was riding more lower angle pow.
@@AngrySnowboarder solid info right there! Really appreciate that!
This or your comparable new for 23 Jones Mind Expander? I saw the updated profile for the ME and thought these two might be pretty close.
ME is noticeably stiffer.
How would it do in the trees compared to the ME?
It's fine. If anything it's easier.
This or jones mind expander for japow?
203 BBC.
@@AngrySnowboarder ?
Hey bro great review. I have a question for you but its not on this board. Would you be interested in answering I dont want to take your post over with off topic chatter.
Do I have to “load” this board bro 😎? If so, how much? Asking for a female friend who enjoys a heavy load
We're talking about your mum, right?
all cambers have to be loaded.
This comment, lmao.
What is that deck on the right of the screen??
That's the 22/23 Rossi Revenant
