Jen's music with her band LEDGER is the reason I am still alive today. It helped me realize killing myself was not how to deal with the issues I have and that i should fight until I am no longer breathing. Through her I have also reconnected to my faith. Seeing her life and her story made me realize straying from God was a major reason i felt my life had gotten how it was. But even while I strayed God was there with me. There where a few times I probably should have died but didn't.
This goes out to those people that keep saying Skillet is not a Christian band. They are LIVING PROOF!
Telling the difference between godly and ungodly music is not about facts or lyrics or doctrines. It's about discerning between carnal and spiritual, and we should pray for the gift of discernment. I hear carnal Christian music everywhere, and I know there is a big problem, because Paul rebuked and warned the Corinthians for being carnal:
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."

Such a great band. I hated rock, (back in 2006) anything that had to do with the words "christian" and "rock" I rejected and despised. As a matter of fact I just didn't care for music in general. Then... My sis bought the album Comatose when it came out. Hated it. But I was going thru a lot at that time, a friend of mine OD on drugs, family problems. Relatives dying, moving, school all that crap. Then one evening, I had enough. I prayed for the first time in a long time. Then something happened... I felt relief a burden was lifted. Then my uncles phone rang and the ringtone was Rebirthing. I listened to that chorus, and it was so moving. I went and grabbed the CD, played it... First track... Rebirthing. I stood and listened to that entire album. Crying. Rejoicing. Worshiping. Since then, I've been a supporter of their ministry. Five yrs later I taught myself guitar and mastered the basics within three months. Learned theory in one. Learned to sight read in one week. I lead worship at churches, and have been doing it since I was 16. I am blessed. I write music and enjoy every moment of it.

Took a car crash (I wasn't Driving) , fractured neck, a brain bleed, and a hellish addiction to Oxy,, and my buddy (also in the car) who nearly died on the table losing quarts of blood while the doctors tried to pack his liver back in, to realize we must have lived for some reason. He had to learn to walk again after 2-1/2 months. His pelvis broke and had to have an external cage to hold in in place. He never had any depression and avoided it it, thankfully. I fell into a very deep depression after kicking the Oxy. The withdraws were back enough I was on a suicide watch. Hospital missed the fact I had torn my ALC and by the time I realized it was not getting better, it had dissolved. Doc threw in a new one a year later. I still have the PTSD that began by having breakdowns for a while then morphed into frustration and anger, as well as a confrontation attitude to people. The depression is there but it is some better. The fact that both of us lived and had dozens of points where we really should have died, made me take a harder look at Christ. At that point there were too many coincidences that happened and near misses with death that it cant be ignored. Though I was always a believer, I know its permanently marked in my heart now. That and the 14" scar down my chest is a daily reminder that my friend and I were saved and must have not finished our jobs on earth yet. What ever they may be.

I became a Skillet fan when the Awake Album came out. Jen was a major factor in that. Her voice to me is like an angel and her beauty is breathtaking. I'm so glad she has her own thing going on. Much love and prayers for you Jen.

Overcoming sin really should not be a constant battle if you really are born again and a new creation. The problem is most Christians haven't been "born" properly. I recommend a video called "David Pawson The Normal Christian Birth Part 1". This man is very godly and trustworthy. Or sub to my channel as I'll be making videos soon! :)

Every bit of the suffering in the world could be multiplied by a million and applied to absolutely all of us if not for his grace--it's a genuine miracle it's not worse. The broken world is more broken than it's behaving. He's actually patiently waiting so more men and women will choose to become his. In the meantime, we see how grave sinful choices are by how sick all of us are without that relationship with our creator we lost in Adam. How can we fix it? We can't, but he made a way.

I always loved Skillet but during my middle school years kinda hated hearing about them because Emo kids always had to make Skillet sound stupid with adding their anime music videos with the Hero song. Not to mention that people would always talk about the same songs over and over which is why I kinda started to hate Skillet. Now I fee bad for even having those feeling because I shouldn't have been angry at Skillet for that is should been angry at the people who made it seem emoish. I Didint start listening to them again till the song American Noise was out. I love you Skillet! And love Jen Ledger! Best Christian band! :D Not best Emo band!

I'm a christian, sometimes I don't feel like it but ik in side I am, but I'm not gonna lie I can tell u here and now i. AM NOT repeat AM NOT a saint and I believe I never will be. I do so many things without regret at the time. Then after I feel lifeless uk. I am 13 years old and I can say I do have a past.I've done so many things I regret in my years of growing up. But the past is the past and god has moved me in a way no one can explain. I'm so glad he has forgiving me for my past and still loves me with jesus christ I wood be who I am today.so I'm letting go of my failures and I'm gonna look ahead to my sucess,because through god I will live for him for the rest of my time.TESTIMONY: it was.janurary 3 2012 I was sad because of something I coodnt get and I was crying my eyes out for it. My mom sed. LORD PLZ GET THE DEVIL OUT OF THIS HOUSE. I told her too stop saying that. She kept on. I got even madder. She kept on. I got so mad I ran at here and hit her. She slapped me all the way to the back of the house. Then I tried to fight back. And she tackled me. When she did I screamed I HATE YOU. Right in her face. She sed well I hate you too. Then I got all sad. And we stayed away from each other all that night. Then later on that night I was all depressed about that evening. I went into her room crying my eyes out. Telling her how sorry I was. She told me don't tell me tell the lord. I told her I needed help. She told me my older sister was coming the next day. The next day: the following day my sister came over and we had bible study and everything but that night I asked jesus christ to become my lord and savior. January 4TH 2012 is the best day of my life you guys. I ask u. Plz don't try to sin live ur life for him. Remember he is coming,so be ready u guys. I love each and everyone of y'all. And god does too. I don't want anyone of u too go to hell so.plz.trust in god. Believe in god. Don't follow the world follow god. Only he can save u. Not your friend. Not ur preacher. Not ur favorite sport. HIM only. And remember he died for your sins. So give him glory. GLORY TOO GOD

MrDefenseless tbh its quite old reading this again after 3 years,mainly cause I swear I couldn't spell back then haha.and even more so because my beliefs changed.
I know a lot has changed for me over the years too but I still remember the day the Lord worked in my heart. I was 11 years old and I'm 23 now. The feeling back but it doesn't always stay with you. I don't know your beliefs now but as they say "the truth is revealed unto babes and hidden from the wise and prudent." Don't let people convince you of what's wrong or right, there is only one true source ffor that as you and your mom know.

Adding Jen Ledger to Skillet was a very wise decision; she makes an already great band better still.

It's truth. not a belief, not a opinion, not a religion. TRUTH.
A very cool, very real honest testimony. How He chose to step into Jen's life shows that God IS REAL. He is not something thought up by mankind like so many want to believe. I was once a non-believer, who didn't want to have any thing to do with God. I wanted to be my own master. I wanted to be in control. And I was... I too had a life that I thought was great already, why would I need God? But just like Jen, God miraculously chose to make himself very real to me in the middle of a time I wasn't even looking. What he did takes a long explanation, but let me assure you it was a miracle that can be explained no other way but that there is a God, and he wants to be present in our lives, and he wants us to know Him, to trust in Him, and to know of His love for us. I could ask any atheist to explain what I experienced and they would find it impossible. And don't fool yourselves into believing that only the uneducated become followers of Jesus Christ. You have no idea how many truly intelligent & highly educated people do believe. I've attended lectures at places like Stanford University by brilliant, highly successful people give all the credit to their success to the Lord. It is only your hardened heart and your selfish pride that makes you refuse to consider that God is real. Not your so-called intellect. I feel very sorry for the people out there who refuse to open up to the possibility that there is a God who loves us and wants us to live for Him. You're missing out by not at least considering that these things are true. As Blaise Pascal so wisely said many years ago, “Either Christianity is true or it's false. If you bet that it's true, and you believe in God and submit to Him, then if it IS true, you've gained God, heaven, and everything else. If it's false, you've lost nothing, but you've had a good life marked by peace and the illusion that ultimately, everything makes sense. If you bet that Christianity is not true, and it's false, you've lost nothing. But if you bet that it's false, and it turns out to be true, you've lost everything and you get to spend eternity in hell.”

One of the biggest lies in history is the notion that all religions teach the same thing, or lead to the same place.
Unfortunately that all too true.
That's the story of my life ...
I was never into a ton of rock music growing up. My cousin liked Van Halen and Bon Jovi, so I heard them both pretty often, but that was it. My own interests were mainly in the pop, country, and contemporary Christian genres, so I listened to the likes of Michael Jackson, Backstreet Boys, Garth Brooks, Randy Travis, Amy Grant, and Michael W. Smith. But I was raised from the age of 3 in an extremely fear-minded and legalistic home, so by the time I was 15 I became very disillusioned with the church. I kept going anyway for a couple of years, mainly to please my Mom, but my heart just wasn't in it anymore. Part of me still loved Jesus, but another part was rapidly growing, full of darkness, bitterness, and hate. I resented God for all the things I had suffered to that point, like being told many times I was going to hell, constantly being beaten up at school, becoming addicted to porn and feeling both trapped but also justified in it - my entire life had become a waking nightmare. I then made a lot of selfish and very stupid personal mistakes in my 20s, which caused me and other people a great deal of pain. It wasn't until 2008 that a friend from college convinced me to attend church with him, and within a year or two I felt God was changing me for the better. My mom passed from lung cancer in 2015, so emotionally that set me back for a long time, but I have a cousin from my Dad's family who has spent the past six years helping me like crazy. I first started listening to Skillet in 2010, not really knowing much about them at all. But I quickly became a loyal fan, and I've since collected all their albums on CD. Glory to God for all of them, truly.

I deeply understand your question. The suffering in the world is...often profound. God gave humans the perfect world. He gave them only one thing not to do--eat from the tree. It could have been anything--don't drink from that stream on Wednesdays... whatever. Imperfect in heart, mind, and in their will, even when perfect in environment--man committed a single wrong that was actually outright rebellion against the glorious perfection of the most loving father and most righteous king.
I would call them more Cross-Over. They are certainly a band comprised of Christians. Their songs reach both the mainstream and the christian music channels. they are certainly unique.
God is REAL
I found it interesting to note that another brilliant drummer: Hannah Welton Ford is almost the same age as Jen and is also a strong Christian believer.
Nothing that really matters to me, for me, back in my time it was the same to listen to Slayer or Stryper.

When u said that the youth leader said that Satan wasn't real I was like wtf bc I used to be a Satanist (I'm a Christian now) n I've seen pretty crazy things n been thru crazy things bc of it so he is defently real. True, I haven't directly seen God. But the evidence I do have? I've heard His voice, I've felt His presence, I've been in so deep that I can taste it. I've spoken languages I never learned. I have more evidence for God then I do for gravity.
Faith is believing in what you can't see. The reward of faith is seeing what you believe in.
