Just a quick question, I hope you have an answer. There are times where I just don't have time to make royal icing. Can I buy ready to use royal icing and then just add corn syrup to it when I'm thining it to flood so it has a softer bite?

I've never come across a ready to use royal icing. There are royal icing mixes, but you still have to add water(I think) and whip it up like you normally would so if you are looking to skip the time it takes to mix it that probably wouldn't be helpful. There are ready to use buttercreams that are made for decorating that you could use to pipe flowers if you are just looking to do some quick practice but they don't dry out the way royal does so they might not suit your needs either.

@@CakeDecoratingSchool celilebakes and satin ice and Wilton all have ready to use royal icing so it looks like it's going to be trial and error I will try it and see what happens and I'll let you know

thanks for sharing Kerri and let us know how it goes. I tend to use the royal in such large quantities that it's just always more economical to make versus buying so I haven't explored any of the ready to use/mix options in years, it does look like there are some new ones out there. If you do some experimenting please share, would love to know how it goes and how it compares to what you make yourself. Cheers and good luck with your decorating!
