This was super helpful Alex. I would be traveling to Spain and have a prescribed set of Pills by my Doctor but they are not in the Original container. Instead my doctor has split them into multiple Plastic sachets for Fever/Diarrhoea/Allergy with a Prescribed Medication along with a handwritten note on them. Would this suffice any security checks at Spain?
Hi Alex, definitely helpful video, my question is about over the counter medicines like Paracetamol or Meclizine HCL (for motion/travel sickness) are these permissible or even these needs doctor notes?
No you do not need a doctors note for over the counter meds. Just make sure if traveling to a different country, make sure these meds are legal in that country to avoid any problems.
Number 1 tip should be check the websites of the countries you will be traveling to. They may require preapproval to bring your drug/cpap, etc…into their country (this takes weeks to get)and there may be a limit to amount of medication…in spite of what this lady says. In some countries you cannot bring some drugs AT ALL so you may not be able to go there. Plus some OTC meds not allowed. Number 2 tip: put meds you need in your primary carry on and not the suitcase carry on. In case they run out of room and force you to check it.
Hi will be flying soon for the first time, do Huggies wipes or sanitizing wipes like Clorox or lysol are consider liquid? Just wondering si me there’s a little bit of liquid at the end. Thank you!
Amazing advice as always! I have a tip that I use that won’t apply to everyone but that works well for our family of six. In the U.S., most times when you fill a prescription, the pharmacy also provides a paper printout that is identical to the sticker label on the bottle: it has your name, the prescriber’s name, the name & description of the medication, etc. We have four kids with special needs who take multiple medications each…more than 15 medications in total. Provided that we are traveling to a destination that does not require that we use the original bottles, we take just what we need for the trip in travel containers, along with these paper printouts with the prescription information. I keep them with the medications so that they are clearly visible. For non-prescription medications, we have paper printouts from the products website that has the same information. I also keep screenshots of all of the prescriptions along with a picture of the medication on my phone. This is helpful not only while traveling but also to provide to anyone who needs to give my kids medicine if I’m not there. They can see exactly what to give and what it looks like. Even if we are using the original bottles, we still take only what we need for the trip plus a couple of extra. That way if something were to happen and we lose the medication, we don’t lose our entire supply, which could be up to a 90-day supply in some cases. Thanks again for such great information!
I'm more concerned about international travel: US to Aruba, I think my Prescription Meds, are all okay... But what about Physican suggested vitamin supplements like Calcium and B-12... Do I have to bring the 500 count containers? And Over-The -Counter Allergy Meds?
Like I said each country has its own rules. I can’t cover all of them. Just check what is allowed in Aruba and make sure the vitamins you’re carrying are legal in that country.
What about an inhaler for asthma/cough related. Do I have to pack that in the 3-1-1 bag or can I just have it somewhere else in my bag? I’m not checking a bag by the way.
Is medication weight restricted? I have a lot of medication and it takes up lots of weight in my carry on. I will have a very limited amount of things for carry on because of this.. 🤦♀️ SO although it is allowed on I’m not sure what weight I’m allowed to bring.
Here is the recommendations according to the Government website. This should help answer all your questions: The limit of two carry-on bags does not apply to medical supplies, equipment and mobility aids. Pack all medications in your carry-on baggage in their original, labelled containers to facilitate airport security and customs screening. Prescription medication is exempted from the liquid restrictions but must be presented to the screening officer separately from your carry-on baggage. Do not try to save luggage space by combining medications into a single container. Use the Family/Special Needs security line. Screening officers at these lines are trained to offer additional assistance. Pack an extra supply of medication in case you are away for longer than expected. Carry a copy of the original prescription and ensure that both the generic and trade names of the medication are included in case of loss or theft. A doctor's note describing why you are taking the medication is also recommended. If you are carrying any unusual medication, check that it is legal and readily available in the country you intend to visit. Contact the foreign government office of the country you plan to visit before departing to make sure the medical supplies you intend to bring are allowed into the country. Consult what you can bring on a plane to determine what you can and cannot pack in your carry-on luggage. Hope that helps.
Hello i am soon travelling to a country for studies i have seizure problem so i have to take medicine everyday so is it any special need of prescription or anything like that to take my pills with me ?
I am not sure I am the best qualified to answer this but here are some tips for traveling with seizures: www.everydayhealth.com/epilepsy/11-steps-for-easier-travel-with-epileps.aspx. I would also check with your destination's embassy of the country you are traveling to and the layovers countries to make sure your medicines are permitted. Many countries allow a 30-day supply of certain medicines, but also require the traveler to carry a prescription or a medical certificate from their health care provider. Hope that answered your questions. I wish you good luck on your travels 👍
I have high blood pressure and I have to eat medicine forever. So, i have to take large quantity of medicine like amlopdophine and losarton. What will CBP ask to me about this?
The TSA allows you to bring as much liquid Tylenol as you need without any restrictions. Here is their exact rules copy pasted from their website: Medication in liquid form is allowed in carry-on bags in excess of 3.4 ounces in reasonable quantities for the flight. It is not necessary to place medically required liquids in a zip-top bag. However, you must tell the officer that you have medically necessary liquids at the start of the screening checkpoint process. Medically required liquids will be subject to additional screening that could include being asked to open the container. If traveling abroad, make sure to check the Air Transportation Security rules of that country before packing your carry-on bag. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching 😊
I am learning with you! I found out most of this when I started doing these travel videos. My viewers always gave me great feedback and notified me when I gave the wrong info on my past videos. 😉
Can you please tell me how to put birth control pills pack when you travelling. Do I need to take out them from Their pack ? Because I’m confused if take out it’s all gonna mixed up how I’m Able to know which pill I need to eat cuz birth pills need to take my days
My liquid emetrol always leaks--even sealead and kept in it's original packaging. I double bag it but I would like to figure out a way to prevent it from leaking. I would welcome anyone's advice. Thank you.
If it’s something you can swallow, put a small piece of bread in the plastic bag so the bread will soak up what spills and you can just swallow the piece of bread.
If you need it medically maybe get a doctors note but this is what the regulation is for gels: We recommend that you carry liquid, gel or aerosol prescription medication in original containers with a pharmacy label identifying the medication. Prescription and essential non-prescription medications are exempt from liquid, aerosol and gel restrictions, but you should be ready to present them to the screening officer.
Do I need to take out medications plastic box and place it on the security box when passing through security? Or I can just leave it in the carry on bag?
I am very talented and can take off my prescription labels of pharmacy bottles. I use tynole tube bottles and put prescription labels on them. I am a retired CDL bus driver, and I was driving on military bases near me (for drop off and picks up at VA Puget Sound hospitals and 1 of 4 military bases near me) I have also traveled to Canada and Mexico this way too.
I'm traveling in December using just a carry-on for the first time ever. I want to make sure I'm able to take everything I need, my liquid toiletries and makeup aren't a problem by themselves, I'm pretty minimal but I do travel with some liquid over-the-counter meds such as Flonase, allergy eye drops, anbesol etc... these combined are going to exceed a quart ziplock. Are the meds OK in a separate ziplock?
Your liquid meds do not have to be put in your quart sized ziplock bag with your toiletries. They don’t even need to be pulled out of your carry on but sometimes security will ask you to open your bag if they see liquids in there so I usually place the meds in a separate ziplock and just pull that out at the same time to not slow down the line and to get through security quicker. Hope that answers your question. Have an amazing trip 👍
Thanks! First video I’ve seen that has made this explicitly clear 🙏
Happy I could help!

Do we need to declare our prescribed medication and do the same things as flight procedure if we travelling by ferry/ship?
It depends where. If you are crossing a border or going into international waters, then the rules are similar to those when flying.
What about vitamin paks?
Vitamin packs are allowed as long as you check if they are legal in the country you are traveling to.
I have high blood pressure and I have to eat medicine forever. So, i have to take large quantity of medicine like amlopdophine and losarton. What will CBP ask to me about this?
