- We are driving and reviewing the Volkswagen Golf 8 R 2021 model. Pure Akrapovic sound, acceleration 0-100, 0-200 and unlocked Vmax 280 km/h on German Autobahn. 320 hp and 420 nm are way more you'd expect from a car like this. The mechanic limited rear differential offers loads of grip, as well as the Michelin Pilot Cup 2. The new Golf R is easy to drive, more dynamic than the MK7 and still a possible everyday car with strong boost and traction - if you can afford it.

@@eugene5309 Hi Eugene. Overall the Golf R is a very stable and fast car to drive everyday. The AWD is way better than in the Golf 7 R because it moves into the corners and there is the new driftmode which is a lot of fun - also for unexperienced drivers. The fuel consumption is very low for this kind of machine and it drives like a normal Golf with much torque when not in sport mode.
Bad things: The steering feels too modern, the interior is a bit dull and we didn't like that you need a smartphone to fully use the infotainment system. Touchpads on the steering wheel are kind of stupid on a race track btw. Some functions in the infotainment system are kind of cryptic as well.
As far as we can say, Volkswagen built an easy and powerful driving machine for allround use which is better than any R before. But it is expensive and not easy to operate.

start shopping for aftermarket illuminated climate control if i were you....and get a strong cable and holder cuz you need carplay everytime you drive.

I mean it looks good and drives very fast, but the hugh problem of the golf 8 in general is the infotainment system and the loss of the buttons.
That's what VW and a lot of others are doing now. We prefer buttons, too.
The problem with this video is here in the United States people don't know how to drive like they drive in Germany.
Boy does it not feel nice to hear the sound of an amazing engine without a soft limiter getting in the way. Also, is there top speed really 270kph? Because you've managed to clock 280kph in the video! XD

@@giovannicioffi2572 No comfort mode as you can clearly see on the gauge. It says "Nürburgring" and "ESC off". Just get along with the fact that also a Golf R isn't fast in any given situation.

Sport: 14 litres, Normal Driving: 9-10 litres. Eco Mode 7,5-8 litres.

Hi Jirka, it was going slightly uphill at 25 degrees Celsius so it was a bit slower. The official time is 4.7 seconds.

@@gurnihal12 That's something only Volkswagen can tell. The 0-200 time was precisely what they promised and even uphill.
@@carbittv it’s actually better . Automann managed 100-200 in 10.8 seconds with summer tires ! Which is an improvement of 0.8 seconds . Doesn’t sound huge but 0.8 seconds means a lot in the car world
@@gurnihal12 The 0.8 seconds are due to an uphill run. Nevertheless the bite point of the clutch is a lot softer than in RS-Models or BMW M. This may result in a bigger spread depending on where you launch it.
